JUST CURIOUS WHY IS 28 G BETTER? Sorry about the caps.

Well, 30 gauge runs you up close to the boost limit. 26 gauge seems to mute the flavor. 28 gauge puts you in that sweet spot of 1.5 ohms +/- a couple tenths. And I like to maximize my coil area. The thickest wire will do that. I'm still playing with 26 gauge but early returns are producing a little less flavor for some reason. Not giving up on it yet though. 28 gauge works very nice with the boost feature. BTW, I'm talking about a Kayfun build here...microcoil, 10-wrap, 2.00 mm ID. Mileage may vary depending on the atty and build. I don't want to suggest this is the right build for other attys.

sorry to bother everyone I do not have time to look through 348 pages of P3 info!
I vape on my P2.5 at 5.3 volts using a 3.0 OHM cartomizer.

Will the hot shot boost mode work well with my setup or do I need to buy lower OHM cartomizers to fully use this hot shot boost mode

Note: I did not buy a P3 yet. thinking about buying one

I am using a CARTO/TANK setup not a RBA

Read this quote from Vape360...

Warning messages received when attempting to use Hot Shot Boost Mode are typically due to the atomizer being above 2.1 ohms. Boost mode increases initial device output power for a duration based on the Boost setting. If atomizer ohms are too high, the device voltage limit (6), also limits the boost power, and provides a warning message. Boost still works, just at a reduce power level. To get full benefit from Hot Shot Boost Mode, use an atomizer having 2.1 ohms or less. The ideal coil resistance for the P3 is in the 1.6 - 1.8ohm range.

ProVari P3 warning messages differ from error messages. Error messages can sometimes signal an issue with the device, while warning messages notify the user that the device is limiting requested output performance, typically because atomizer ohms is not compatible with the output setting. Warning messages do not mean that there is a problem with the P3 device, it's just letting you know there is a boundary condition, but in all warning situations it will continue to run and it's up to the user to choose if they want to make changes.

There is no difference in P3 software versions 35 and 36 with regards to the device providing warning messages when using boost mode. This is strictly a function of atomizer ohms being in the correct range :)

Great !! Working as intended I guess. Now if they can add an LED light in the new aspire tanks I can vape and see where I'm going at the same time :) I hate getting older

The Input Quality (IQ) is another nice feature that I thought would be just a fluff feature. It actually turns out to be quite useful. I used an older AW IMR 2000 18650 battery that I felt was aging from all the use on my Provari 2.5 and just didn't seem to give as long a vape time as it used to on the 2.5. Now I know it's time to replace it since it shows 56IQ. I have been suspecting this was the case on my 2.5, but now I have a way to know my battery has seen better days and needs to be replaced. Great feature.

I got mine 3 days ago and am loving it. The IQ feature I agree would be gimmicky but there does indeed seem to be some science behind it. I date all my batteries with a sharpie and sure enough the score goes down on the older ones so it is a good measure of battery health IMO.

I have to say the menu takes some getting used to (the 2.5 being absurdly simple these days, which I LOVE) but the ability to have 1 unit for all three battery sizes rocks.

I am using LR cartos from Boge and Ikenvape. They are supposed to be 2.0Ω, but many range between 2.1 and 2.2Ω. The 2.2Ω I'm using right now gets what ProVape refers to as a warning, and according to them is supposed to get reduced boost. I'll have to get an inline voltmeter to verify that's the case, but I certainly can't detect any boost on it by ear, the way I can with 1.8Ω and lower.

If you are set on using boost with cartos, I'd recommend trying the 1.7Ω Smok cartos. That gives you some leeway for manufacturing tolerances allowing those 1.7Ω cartos to be as much as 2.0Ω.

Hope this helps...
