The Russian is a clone. Period.

They put out a **** and bull story about one of the SM guys breaking away and commissioning the Russian but that is flat out BS that refuses to die.

The SM guys refuted it. Nobody left their company, but; Kebo keeps telling the same old lies.

You want to buy clones? Great. More power to you. I don't have a dog in that fight. But let's call a spade a spade.

I don't think anyone is or has disagreed with this. An "Authentic Russion 91" is a Kebo built product. There are some differences, some of which are a little better conceived on the Russian, but they are pretty much the same device, built by two different companies.

This is how I understand the story as well and the myth that a SM guy broke off is the one that got traction. I can't say for certain where the 91's are made.

So, yes the Russian is a clone of the Kayfun. The Russian (no 91%) is the clone of the 3.1 and the Russian 91% is the clone of the Kayfun Lite.

The rumor said an employee from SvoëMesto left the company unhappy and went straight to do a modified and supposedly better version of the Kayfuns.

SvoëMesto has said many times that the story is false and that never happened. We will never know the truth about that.

The Russians were made originally in Russia, instead of Germany, where the Kayfuns are manufactured. (They were designed in Russia, though.)

Kebo is the manufacturer for the Russians, and the quality they deliver is way better than many other Chinese companies, so they are "authentics" in a way.

Difference from a Russian to a Kayfun are:
- More open airflow
- Different finish options
- Version 2 has a different filling method that uses a ring which also controls the airflow
- Drip tip is like the older Kayfun tips, with a really small bore, and a straight cylinder with a rounded top

All in all, they've been trying to head in a different direction than the Kayfun, but they have the same base and they can be built and treated exactly the same.

I would confirm this information as well.

Yes, SvoëMesto's quality is second to none, and they're the original creators and manufacturers, period.

It's hard to justify the price of a Russian considering they are clones, but they do have a little bit more airflow and very good finish options (they had at some point Polished, Sand Blasted, Black, and Gold,) and the quality is indeed very good.

I don't know if they continue to be made in Russia, or if they're made in China, as Kebo is a Chinese company.

Anyways, they're now in a category of their own, but will never be a Kayfun or Kayfun killer, it's just another option and a good one despite their origins.

I would have likely just saved some $$ and gotten another KFL+, but Peter has an Authentic Russian 91 just sitting on the shelf, he never used and for what I'm paying for it, it's a deal I simply can't pass up. No I can't!
You'll enjoy it equally as well as your KFL. They are essentially identical.

And notice the myriad of clones these days are nearly all Kayfuns.

That part I've never understood. How can someone get away with calling something a Kayfun, if it's not made by the original Kayfun maker (SvoeMesto)? At least the Russian doesn't call itself a Kayfun.

And for good reason, they basically created THE experience for tanks and rebuildables, and there's been hardly any innovation made that completely revolutionizes the vaping game as the Kayfun did.

Nearly every tank (and many drippers) that have been released in the last two years copied at least some of the Kayfun design.

Thanks LB. I'm actually quite happy with the Kayfun Top Fill thingy I added. I like how it's finished impeccably well, just as well as SvoeMesto would have finished it. I like that it holds more juice. Since getting the KFL+, I must admit that I tend to vape more. It's just so friggin good and the flavor just can't be beat. And I've said this already, but for some reason, the volume of vapor has increased with this thing. Don't know why, but not looking a gift horse in the mouth either!

I did see the piece you've just ordered and it looks like a nice addition to a Kayfun as well.

I'm either going to get a 2nd KFL+ or I've been reading about the Authentic Russian 91. Busardo seems to really like the Russian a lot. It's actually more expensive than a KFL+. Not sure why, but one thing I noticed is it has a finish that is sandblasted, just like a SS P3. Of all the tops, it might look the absolute best on a SS P3.

They're authentic Kebo. I have a black R91 from them.
