It could be a game changer for me. What is your build? Gauge, resistance,etc..
I see there are five boost levels and it is based on time. My question is, what is the power elevated to during this boost period? Anyone?
My guess is that the boost feature elevates the wattage by about 3 watts. Vape360 would have to confirm that though. It might be a percentage increase over your current watt/volt setting too
I think it depends on the setting you are at and the resistance you have... the settings (1-5) are duration in .25 second increments. Boost will not exceed the limits of the P3 and you'll get a warning message to turn off boost or drop your level if you set it on when you're too close to the upper limits of the device ...
ADD: What ever they are doing, it works nicely especially with thicker gauge that takes time to heat up.
Hmmm...wonder what the warning is based on.
Well, when you're at 18.5W and boost is on, or what ever setting you have is already approaching 5.5A, what do you think should happen?
Well yes, I can understand that. It you're already at 20 watts or 5.5 amps then any boost setting would yield an overcapacity error. But what if you're at 18 watts and 4 amps? Will it boost to only an additional 2 watts or will it error you? This is why I ask how much the boost feature jacks up the power? Is it a set amount or does it max it out to its capacity?

Thanks Mowgli. Still doesn't answer how much power the boost is providing. However, this last sentence, "Note that turning the ProVari up to max wattage and boosting up to 5 will not exceed the maximum output of the unit which is up to 20 watts." suggests maybe the boost is equivalent to whatever the remaining capacity of the Provari is. Basically, if you are at or near the capacities of the Provari (whether it is watts, volts, or amps) the boost will have very little or no impact.
Yeah the DNA 40 throws down a massive amount of power to get it up to temp, but this is with NR nickel wire only I believe. With Kanthal, the DNA40 doesn't go over its current watt setting. At least that's what I thought I read. I was just going by the sound of the coil when I'm using boost mode. It could be a 5 watt increase, but that wouldn't do near as much for those vaping over 15 watts. My guess remains at 3 watts =]
Need some input from Vape360!
That comment was during beta.. but the manual says the same thing... vague
I just ran up to 19.8W at 5.4V on a 1.5 ohm build with 26ga. - boost set for 3 (3/4 of a sec) no error, no warning, it worked fine- although I can't tell you if it did anything ....
I guess when I saw the warning message I was exceeding the 5.5A internal limit..
