Of course this guy most likely didn't have anything close to a Provari in his pants pocket, but it's stories like this that don't help us at all......

E-Cigarette Battery Explodes, Burning Man's Leg
This story is about the worse I've seen so far as to attention grabbing and not telling us anything.

It's very sketchy on the details, it could very well have been a loose battery in his pocket for all we know. I'm not picking on you, just pointing out how poorly these events are covered.

If the media were educated, and actually cared, they would be taking these opportunities to educate about battery safety in hopes of helping some other hapless individual avoid such an incident.

I agree with you completely. There are no details given whatsoever. It just looks bad and leads people who don't know better to the conclusion e-cigs are dangerous devices that blow up. Bad journalism.

as I learned long ago while working at a newspaper, don't let the truth get in the way of a good story.
I think many (not all) are catching on. Journalist's approval ratings are as low as politicians and used car salesmen.

To me and I'm not trying to start a political battle here, but there's just nothing more telling about a huge percentage of the US population, when The Donald can get cheers (as in happy approval) when he said yesterday that he Loves the Poorly Educated.

I must be at the top of his list then.

Is it just my interpretation of the power charts that the only way the Radius hits 40 watts is between .5Ω and .6Ω? The Radius manual says it just reduces the power it can't deliver without giving any indication. That seems odd. At the coil resistance value I use it seems the Radius actually only puts out about 20 watts. Am I reading this right?

woohoo.. just picked up a red radius in the classys! It'll be here tomorrow! I was waiting for a provape sale but couldn't resist $40 off retail! So I don't get the benefits of the year warranty but from my experience, I won't need it.

I had an expensive dna 200 device... I never got around to trying TC and never ran it above 20 watts. If one of my reos breaks, if I can't fix it, Rob can and will. If the radius breaks or malfunctions, provape will take care of me. If that dna 200 reuleaux breaks, it'll become an expensive paper weight as I wouldn't know where to send it and I can't fix it myself. I found that I never used it to it's full potential anyway. It's an awesome device but just wasn't for me. I'll pay a bit more for piece of mind. I sold it to get the radius that I figure will better fit my needs. :)

I wondered that also. The amp limit is 9.5 and the voltage limit is 6. I played around with the ohms law calculator.. a .8 coil is 5.65 volts and 7amps. That looks like the highest resistance that can be used to get the full 40watts.

If it can't deliver what it's set at, I'd rather be told what it's actually delivering than just reducing the power.. I at least want to be able to know what's it's delivering... I remember when the v1 lavatube did that and I wasn't too happy about it. But this won't really affect me since I don't think I'll ever get to 40watts anyway.

Did you figure the highest resistance you can use to get 40 watts?

I saw that clip. I would have called it more of a "Nervous Laughter" than a cheer heh.

Political correctness is more alarming. I'd prefer hearing people say controversial things than to PC them into silence and render the 1st amendment to N. Korean status.

.8 looks to be the highest that won't go over the 6v limit and get the full 40 watts. I've never gone over 20 watts and have no desire to (for now anyway) so I'm good. Most of my coils hover around 1ohm give or take depending on what I'm building for.
