I have had my Radius for at least 6 months now. As far as the battery replacement I have only needed to do that once. It works as designed. It was not designed to be a quick replacement...it was designed to give a great connection and to allow for replacement vs a hard wired source...

The "stupidly complex battery replacement" is really not complex at all.

Every Provari has a threaded base cap for battery removal. Same here. The difference is, the Radius has two things to unscrew instead of one.
I've found the battery swap on a Radius to take less than a minute longer than that of a tube Provari.
Tell me how that's complex! [emoji16]
Well, OK...my first attempt was a little clumsy cuz I was all "Ooh" and "Ahh"...but since then, it's been easy-peasy.
Also, it's totally unnecessary.
Provape designed the Radius with a very well built on-board charging system.

The one thing you have to determine is whether (or not) you can live with the battery replacement, if you even need to do that.

Think of it as a non-replaceable battery mod.

Can you get by on 2500-3000mah a day?

If the answer is yes, then this is a good mod for you, if no then you have to really think about how you are going to get along with those Two screws.

You are probably going to go through batteries at 20-30W.

This is true of any single batt 18650 mod.

Quite frankly, anyone using power in that range, or above, should be using a dual, or triple battery mod, or something with a magnetic battery cover imo.

Having said that, you can get really good at pulling the battery on a Radius with a little practice.

Hang on to those screws though, and make sure they are really (really) screwed in there.

Battery screws... I just can't believe people have issues with this. Takes less than 30 seconds. I don't bother using the onboard charging anymore, I just have a spare charged battery on hand and swap it over. You don't need an engineering degree, it is just 2 bloody screws that unscrew in a flash. Everything lines up, you can't do it wrong if you tried LOL
Just a quick update on my original small concerns about the potentially awkward battery changes on a Radius.

Since mine arrived I've mostly been recharging it via USB, but every now and then I forget to plug it in and need to swap the battery.

After doing it a cuppla times I can testify that it really is an easy, and quite quick process.
I just timed myself and even without hurrying it only took 38 seconds, and isn't awkward at all...but then my real name is Dex Terous :D

And it's replaced my Procyon as my everyday vape simply coz it fits my jeans pocket better and weighs a bit less...so my trousers don't fall down as often LOL

I noticed the battery bar doing some odd things as my Radius was charging. Should I be concerned about this?

That looks like an older software version with the large battery icon.

Maybe try updating to a newer version? ProVari Software Upgrades
"Radius Version 26 (40 Watt model) (07/19/2016) - This version incorporates several bug fixes and improvements to the previous version to include: Battery meter adjustments, increase accelerator scroll speed, changes to the end of charge detection, slimmer battery icon, bug fixes"

That was exactly what I was going to say LOL

Hi! Greetings from Mexico :thumb:. I'm almost a newbie, just vaping for 2 months after being a 2 pack a day smoker, it's great (no more analogs for me). I have just received my first Provaris (2 60w Radius) and it is amazing just by the looks and feel! Kind of pricey but the quality seems to be outstanding (at least compared with the Aspire mod ESP30 I've been using even though it works well and looks nice)

I wanted to ask you guys about tanks. I'm currently using the Aspire Nautilus X and also looks and works pretty good with zero leaking problems.

Can you recommend other tanks? I have just ordered a Protank 4 but want to try other options so I can buy enough equipment if the FDA Regulations are kept the way they are now. As soon as my bank account recovers from the Radiuses I might get a pair of Kabukis but I also want to try coil building .

Regards,

Regards,
I recommend the Kayfun v5 and the Kayfun Mini v3. You'll need to learn coil building, but it's not difficult, especially on the Kayfuns. Rebuildable tanks are a worthwhile investment given the FDA regs since wire and cotton will always be available.

I'll agree with BuGlen on the Kayfuns, but I'd also add in a Kayfun Lite Plus V2 for the easiest of builds. The KFM 3 and KF 5 have easier filling capabilities and are more "updated", but the "standard" KF Lite is super easy for someone who's not yet really delved into the world of rebuilding.

Stock coil tanks? There are many. I like the Kabuki, the Cerotank, the Nautilus, and the Ego One Mega.

Good luck Tomasius, and let us know how it works out for you. :)

Welcome Tomasius.
I also like the Kabuki, and byLeo Calix for a rebuildable, and much more compact than the big Kayfuns.
Interesting about Mexico.
Yet another "wise" country. So, are tobacco products themselves banned because they "are tobacco products" or are only products which "look like a tobacco product" banned?

newyork13, the problem in Mexico regarding e-cigs is that, as I understand, the Mexican Law prohibits the trade, sale, distribution, exhibit, promotion or production of any product that, not being a tobacco product, bears any part of a tobacco mark or its design or its "auditory signal" (whatever that means) identifies it with tobacco products. So this provision bans according to the COFEPRIS the e cigarettes (I guess because their name or maybe because the way they work or are used, who knows we should ask the tobacco companies lobbyists).

According to the law, a Tobacco product is any substance or product prepared in its totality or in any of its parts using as raw material tobacco leafs and intended to be smoked, sucked (as a candy), chewed or snuffed, so my guess is that e-cigs cannot be deemed and regulated as tobacco products.

What is amazing is that with the official permits and registrations, you can produce and sale cigarettes, but anything else not being made with tobacco but that resembles a cigarette is absolutely forbidden!

Thanks for explaining that.
If I were in charge of a country: either, by fiat, institute regulations which will ultimately drive a relatively harmless personal pastime into oblivion, or implement totally irrational laws to nip it in the bud. Sadly LOL.
As i mentioned in a thread somewhere, I spent half the summer in Italy. Vape wherever you want. Some encroaching EU regulations on vaping, but no one seems to much care. Maybe I'll have to move there to escape this crap.
