Sloan. Thank you for the code and thank you for your thoughts. We are feeling a little scared about this and not wanting to push. My Mom will be calling them after they receive it and telling them that after they try it if they don't like it to to save it for times or places where you can't smoke cigs but can vape or send it on to your sister (me) cus she will use it. I think that does take some pressure off.

Hello again,

Not sure if I'm posting this in the right forum, it's regarding the volt though so here it goes.

How do you guys feel you would have reacted if you received a VOLT starter kit in the mail unexpected from your Mom or another family member while you were still a smoker, not wanting to quit and had never vaped? Would a stop sign have gone up and you refuse to try it? Would you have tried it and if so do you think it would have hooked you if it wasn't your idea? I think if any E-cig style PV has any chance of positive results it's the VOLT !

Heres why I ask. My Mom is so pleased with my success with the VOLT (6 weeks analog free) that she is buying my brother and his wife starter kits today and having them shipped to their home. They don't know it yet. My brother and his wife have smoked 38 years. He smokes Marlb Reds and she smokes menthol (I think). This past week my brothers wife had some health issues and was in hospital. Her smoking habit is a factor with the health issues and so the doctors are all over it like flies on S***. My brother mentioned to my mom that the smoking was going to have to be addressed when she came home from hospital and that he would probably have to cut down or quit as well to help her out. Mom said he sounded bummed about it. This is touchy because my bro who I love dearly and have always looked up to also has the type of personality that it has to be his idea. My Mom thought timing is crucial and strike while the pan is hot, his wife has had a scare and after all he did actually breath the words he may have to quit as well. Also, although we live 2000 miles apart he is aware of my success but not aware of the VOLT brand. Our fear is that without us knowing he may actually go out and buy a crappy e-cig, try it, hate it and never try one again. Hoping with 2 people trying the volt odds are higher that vaping the volt will be a success in this case.

Any thoughts negative or positive I'd like to hear. She has not ordered yet as we are waiting for the 24 and 18mg cartomizers to stock.

Also, like the post below I am looking for a good coupon code as well for my Mom to use. If anyone knows of one can you please PM me with it? Thank you

I didn't think I said mine turned green, if I did, I apologize..it is blue...the one that Connie is using goes from red to green....that is the one I thought I meant turning to green, but I may have slipped...sorry:blush:

Edit:...OMG I did:facepalm: All these darn chargers....between my e-power batt charger, and the ego, and 808's....It's a wonder I have not blown a batt trying to charge it on the wrong charger.....you are correct I oops'd and said green:( lol...the vgo (which has 808 threading) charger goes green, but I cannot tell you how long it's been since I used that one...lmao. Now I am seeing all kinds of colors.....I need to go lie down now:eek:ops

lol...not a problem ;)

I think that's really sweet of your mom. Maybe (if like you said) it was approached as being an item that could help in cutting down instead of quitting then he would be more open to it. "Quitting" always made me feel like it was being forced on me, even when it was MY idea! Crazy

hmm ok first I have heard of the LED's not going out...will have to look into it...
Had the same charging problem with my V2 USB dongle and my EVW regulated battery. Tried it again last night with the Volt: didn't work after 5 hours on the wall adapter. Juiced it up enough to stop blinking, but when I switched to the SI USB dongle, it still took the whole 3 hours to fully charge. So like I said before, I still think there's something about the power requirements of this new design that makes it persnickety on some of the older chargers. Just the USB dongle though - not the wall adapter. (I still use the V2 dongle on my V2 batts - not broken)

Ok, I vaped her dry in about 2 and a half hours. Put on charger and checked it after a little over an hour just to see what was going on. It worked!!! So I think everything is fine just the LEDs aren't working right. Do I care? NO!!! Don't need no stinkin' lights!
Only thing about the LED lights not going out is that your batt may not be charging all the way. I read somewhere about "plating," where the gooey stuff in the battery plates over time, and you may end up with that 3/4 charge time (or however long it is) permanently on that batt. I think it's preferred to charge it all the way.

Exactly my thought too. That's actually pretty close to how I got started -- Mom bought the kit for me, but I knew she was going to. I was going to try it just to humor her, and was curious to see what it was like. But I NEVER intended on getting it to quit. That part just snuck up on me a few weeks later. So if it was me, I'd tell them it was coming so they could try it as a supplement, just to help them cut back. The eventual quitting will happen at their own pace. :)

Kreapster I agree with the other comments. Your Mom is doing this out of love so hopefully they will take it in the spirit given. Tell her to just consider it is a small price to pay for a chance at huge benefits. Yes some people don't like something being forced on them if it's not their idea but I think once she calls them and explains then maybe they will give it a try.

Come back and let us know how it all goes.

Mine was a V2 USB dongle too. First 2 times it was like you said. Did the same thing with one of my V2 batts also. Got it replaced. Did vape for 2 hours with the Volt though so knew it WAS charging.

Thought I would leave it on overnight just to see what would happen. After a while the LED on charger did change color. To orange!!!! From an angle it looked pale green! But ash LED was still lit. Hummmm.

So left it on overnight. Still kinda orange but ash LED went out like it was suppose to!! YAY!

Like I posted my LED ash went out so it is fully charged, right?

Sloan, cindycated, crbrown, starsong, opsguy. Boy am I glad I posted. Just got off the phone with my Mom and I read her all of what you guys had written. Very very helpful and we now agree as well with what you all had to say. Actually kinda glad SI was out of the 18/24 mg or we would have ordered before contacting them. Now my Mom agrees to call him and talk to him first and not talk about it as quitting but maybe a tool to help cut down at this time. Great help here, many thanks and my Mom thanks you all as well.

I'm guessing yes (I think some of their dongles had that problem with the orange indicator). But I would still pick up an SI USB charger ($7.95) during the next sale. My EVW batt (same technology as Volt, only 1 1/2 months old, occasional use - I hate autos) only lasts around 40 minutes now, even when fully charged with the SI charger (no orange indicator, no dimmed LED ash, etc.)...but that's all you'd need, plus it's faster (3 hours, not overnight). The wall adapter doesn't seem to make any difference.

I have a question for other Votians regarding refilling carts. How many refills on average do you get from your Volt carts before you need to clean them or throw them out?

Since I have only been using the Volt for about 3 weeks or so I have not cleaned any carts yet. I started out with several packs of pre-filled 555 & RY4 carts and I have probably only refilled any individual cart maybe 2 to 3 times so far. I am using just the 555 and RY4 juice from SI. After refilling a cart 2 or 3 times I have noticed that it will start having a off taste and the flavor is not quite as good as it was on the first fill. Once it starts tasting a little odd I thought maybe they were getting low on juice so I popped the top but the filler still looks wet. I tried to top them off but after adding 3 to 4 drops it started leaking out the bottom.

Is this a sign that they need to be cleaned?

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

Best to wait for the higher MGs anyway. That could be a real bummer/dealbreaker. Maybe mention too that vaping is a way to smoke without really smoking (like when you can't or shouldn't anymore - it's like a loophole). Even though I haven't smoked a real cigarette since I started in May, I'm still having a hard time saying that I've quit smoking - I feel like I still am...of course, it's Blueberry Cheesecake now, not Virginia Slims Menthol 120s! ;-) ...and it's fun!

Sounds like it to me (needs cleaning). Try taryn spinning them first - you might be able to get a little more out of them. I think length of time/number of refills depends on the juice. I don't do tobacco juices, but I know I have to clean out my choco-banana (1-2 days) a lot more frequently than my blueberry cheesecake (1+ weeks). If it's caramelly/sugary/chocolaty, it probably gunks up the coil faster. I bet the cappuccino does this too.

Tee hee, your avi looks a lot like the last IT guy I worked with!

KreapsterNot to be redundant, I agree with everyone. BUT - having it in your hands makes a big difference..otherwise you really have no idea what it is. Especially with the Volt since it's unlike an other ecig. I think curiosity would get to them if they had it in hand. It will be easy for him to say..no thanks mom. If given the choice before hand. Then what? How do you send it after he says no?
I like what you had said about sending it, but taking the pressure off as far as cutting back or sending it to you. Why do you think free trials work so well? Or stores put prices on the back of products...having it in hand is key. Just my 2cents. And btw, I think you and your mom are AWESOME!
def, 24mg. :)

Loophole is the perfect term for my Mom to use. Perfect !

If it ends up a go (and I know it will) then will be ordering them the following:

2 pro starter kits with the sliders and 65mm bats=2 white bats, 1 pink bat and 1 drk green bat if it's in.
3-Smooth samplers in 24mg, 18mg and 12mg
1-Sweet sampler in 24mg
1-Menthol Burst in 18mg
1-Ice menthol in 24mg
1-New grape in 18mg
2-USB wall adapters
2-USB battery chargers

The two white bats I will struggle with when placing order as that is now my least favorite color (I have 10 bats both sizes). But think they will want white bats 65mm for that first puff. I know I did. After using the pink one it was no longer important to me but it sure was important that it be white on that very first puff. Have read where other people felt the same so goin with it.

Ops..... pretty much what cindycated said. Sounds like it needs cleaning.
I'm sure your aware that I vape the 555 like a freight train so this is what I have experienced so far with the Volt cartos and 555 liquid.
With a fresh carto Blank or 555, I get up to 20 fills before it needs cleaning. After cleaning, I only get up to about 8 or 10 refills and then I just toss em and move on to a new one.
Now with that said, using a vg blended juice you can cut that amount of fills in half. At least that is what I have experienced with the blank Volt cartos or any other carto for that matter using 20%vg 80%pg and 50/50.
