This is where I differ from everyone else's ideas on giving advice. I was able to quit using just 11/12mg, sometimes I do the 16/18mg, but 75% of the time it was the "medium" nics. I don't agree that the higher nics are always better, because people don't always vape like they smoke, and the higher nics could have undesirable effects. Maybe it depends if you were a 2PAD Marlboro full strength smoker, or a 1PAD GPC Ultra Light smoker (me). I dunno.... going to sit in the corner now.

Interesting... I was a very heavy smoker (3PAD) and never needed to use above 12mg.

+1 to Star....I was a full flavor and am 18-24....hubby on the other hand...cannot handle much above 6mg...mostly 4 and an occasional 8mg. There is no set level based on what was smoked before nor based on how much one smoked. I got lucky when I ordered mine, but had to go back and get lower nic for the hubby....and my mom (ultra light menthol smoker) needs 24mg.

So there you have it... High nics are not a requirement for quitting. I finially feel like I can speak to this since I've been using the volt for a few months. The very first thing I do is take off the end cap. Then I dump all the carts into a bowl and cover them with vodka. I let them sit... overnight is way long enough, 3 hours is probably pretty good. I strain the vodka out and rinse, rinse, rinse through a collandar. Then I boil them. Usually two rounds of 15 minutes does the trick. I think that the vodka soak breaks up the gooey stuff and makes them much easier to come clean when boiling.
I got the idea from all the people who said that they clean their egos with vodka. I figgured it was worth a shot... lol I made a punny!

I'm still reading everyones advice. Think I will throw in 1 - 6mg pack of cartomizers and 1 more 12mg so that way they have more range. Good idea guys. I myself started with 12mg and was fine, tried a sample that I had ordered from VR of 20mg and found it came in handy for when I'm jonesen. But most of the time 12 or 18 is good for me. I was a 2 pk day marlb light. They smoke stronger cigs so was thinking stronger nic for them. But agreed. Give them 4 levels. Thanks everyone.
