Hey, what's going on here?
I'm enjoying a brand new Classic Grape carto on my manual battery, and all of the sudden the switch starts getting flaky! Like you press it and sometimes it doesn't go on. No sizzle, no LED, nothing! Tried another carto on the battery - whew, it's fine. Is this normal/bad? What else should I try?

EDIT: Never mind...it's OK now. Probably an air bubble in there or something.

If that happens again, try giving the battery a firm whack against the edge of your table or desk. That was what I was told to do when my brand new manual failed to work. It worked fine after I did that, which suggests to me that there must be a bad connection in the mechanism.

Huh? I don't understand the anniv avi theme discussion - please explain?

Don't worry - I don't really get it either but as of tomorrow I will become an ECF Veteran (1 year) and they ask you for a theme and people change their avitar and send you avatars to use if you'd like.

Not a bit, no sign of any bad flavor. Other than the new juice I tried (yuck).

And nevermind the question about the avi theme - I found the thread :)

Interesting - might have to try that.

Wonder if I loaded my cartomizercleananator with vinegar and put a little baking soda in each carto ahead of time.....I feel a test coming on later today:)

This morning it finally dawned on me what an advantage it is to order a pkg. of prefilled cartos to try one of SI's juices. Then if you like it and order a bottle, you have labeled cartos to use. Now I'm trying to figure out how I can label some blanks for the non-SI juices that I use regularly. Matching up colored rubber bands on the bottles with colored drip tips works, but it can sometimes mess up a color scheme with the batts.

Here is a thread you all might like to look at about cleaning carts, attys, etc. Looking forward to the results you all get! :thumb: I use the vodka/sonic cleaner version but I DON'T wait two months to clean them! :D

You are making the right decision. V2 is a good product but Volt beats them in every way. Wish I had known about the Volt first also.

I really wish I would have done some more research before jumping into a V2 kit last week. I plan on returning it and getting a Volt kit for me and my mother within the next week, but it would have been really cool to have been able to have gotten that summerend deal last week if I was a tad-bit more informed. :p Better late than never I guess haha.. Definitely interested in any current or upcoming coupon codes.

ME TOO!!!!

I spent so much on different cartos, carts, tanks, batts etc. and still to this day I can't believe how simple it could have been:)

Well, it finally happened: you know how I like to poke used, dying cartos with a pin to get them to work again? Well last night, I poked a little too hard, and POOF, out pops the coil on a couple of them! Oops! Oh well. Time to experiment.

Whoa, charcoal briquettes! I thought they were burnt, but I think they're just encrusted with almost two months worth of crud. Yeah, I could just throw them out after that long, but figured it would be nice to find a cleaning method that's actually effective in general, if I'm gonna continue to clean them at all.

So, since this blackened coil is what really needs to get clean (the batting is easy and won't necessarily bring a carto back to good working condition), I tried soaking it in:
  • Vodka for 4 hours: No effect. Still hard as a rock. This is what I've been using. Obviously, it ain't working!
  • Rubbing alcohol for 4 hours: Same thing.
  • Dawn and hot water for 2 hours: wow, the fiber thing that the wire is wrapped around completely cleared up at the ends, but it's still black and hardened where the wire is wrapped around it (bb got a little smaller though). Maybe soak a little longer. But it would be such a pain to rinse soap out of a carto, what with all that batting and all! Hmmm...
  • Sprayed one with Easy Off: crud's completely gone, but yeah, like I'm really gonna clean my cartos with Easy Off! Too young to die.
  • Soaking in a denture cleanser tab now (thanks, Rave). One hour so far, and no effect (still hard and crusty). We'll just let that sit overnight and see how it goes, cuz I had high hopes for this one...(works great on my french press though)
  • E-liquid that I didn't like...they put PG in soap, right? Must not be not one of the active ingredients, cuz it ain't doing a damn thing! ...yet. We'll let that sit next to the denture tabs.

So what I'm thinking is to approach it like I'm trying to clean a baking pan with really nasty burnt/hardened/baked-on sugar, cuz that's pretty much what it is, right? And it's not like you can get in there and scrub it off, so it would have to get clean by soaking. So the trick now would be to find the right solvent that won't kill me...hmmm.....hydrogen peroxide? vinegar?

Great testing, interesting results. I'd be curious if an ultrasonic cleaner would do any better on the "charcoal briquettes" as you so eloquently named them, great description.
I actually did my first cleaning earlier this week after basically 2 months of use  Vodka soak overnight, flush with syringe (like Vapian's fillinator) and very hot water, flush with air using syringe then air dry for two days. I'm pretty impressed with the longevity of the Volt cartos. I've only used about 15 cartos in that time so they've seen some solid use, lots of refills, and even some flavor switches. Performance is close to new after cleaning but taste isn't quite there. It's acceptable but probably time to get a some new ones coming. I guess if I'm only buying one 5-pack of cartos every month or two that's not bad at all. :p

BTW, DM's wraps held up fine to cleaning.

You could get the multicolored caps maybe? More subtle looking so wouldn't mess up the color scheme.

I'm gonna order a volt kit later today. Any good coupon codes? This will be my first vaping purchase other than a gas station disposable.

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at how much better it is than the disposable model. Juices are good, too, and I'm finding that's kind of rare -'course, that's a matter of taste. You might want to add a sampler pack to your order just to try a few out and see if you like them.

UGHHH!!! Major computer issues here. Fortunately, my son worked headed the Tech Dept. at Tiger Direct for quite awhile but ... his girlfriend is visiting for the weekend. So, he's occupied. I was finally able to get on here to catch up, but my computer is still giving me fits. Didn't want y'all to think I fell into a parallel universe or that I'm cheating on Volt with a better PV (cuz there isn't one). I apologize for all of the posts that I normally would have "liked" but couldn't. This thing is still acting all hinky as heck. As soon as I can pull my resident nerd away from the distracting presence of a sweet, young female, maybe I'll be able to participate in all the fun again. I miss you guys!! :(

lol... I have the multicolored caps. They're nice and I use them, but prefer the drip tips. I'm just having so much fun with these colored batts after having nothing but black ones.
