hi does anyone know if vaping is ok when you are pregnant? my friend that i lent one of my volts to has been using it and cutting down on her smoking but she can't seem to give up the smoking yet. anyway she found out a couple of weeks ago that she is pregnant but still can't give up. she had a lot of problems before getting pregnant and was on quite a lot of medication including tramadol and morphine. she has stopped taking the drugs for the babies but she can't give up smoking as well she said it is too much to give up all at once. after 2 weeks of withdrawal she is starting to feel better and is trying to vape more instead of smoking but i don't know if this is safer or not. i know there are a lot of chemicals in tobacco but what is actually in the e juice? there maybe something in it that is worse than smoking in pregnancy.
I gave up smoking completely when i was pregnant both times but it is harder for her because she has just come off very addictive drugs as well.

I don't know that any studies have been done on that, but it has to be less harmful than smoking.

JMO, but I'd be a million times more worried about morphine and tramadol than a few wickies of niccy....

I think she should vape more(36mg) carto's and try like hell to get off the cigs. I know exactly what she is going through with the witdrawls from the drugs. Being an Ex Half ounce a day Cocain Smoker(cold turkey and still on the wagon since 1989!!) I am addicted to Hydro,s which is the only pain med for my broken back that works well enough for me been on almost every thing made and non worked or, they made me turn into a very angry person who took stuff out on my family for no reason(that was like Oxycontin,Patches,anything time released). I know how hard it is to get off those things, i honestly would never ever be able to function if my pain went above the level 6 where its at almost 24hrs a day, spikeing to an 8 on the scale quite offten. The smoking, as i said, she should look into higher nicotine carto's AND make sure she is getting the most out of her vapin, method wise. The right way to vape and absorbe the Nico is really important as i found out the second day i read how to in the newb forum and it has given me excellent results. Ive had the same pack of analogs for 2 weeks now and i have 10 left!! Yay me!

Have her give it a try, because no matter what is in the carto, PG/VG, the carto's still lack 2-4 THOUSAND chemicals.

Definitely can taste the stripes.. it's subtle.. got the 70/30.. almost out of my cartos so gave one of the sweet flavors a try... still giving it a go.. It wasn't in a new cart though.. reused an ry4 one.. figured if anything was left behind after cleaning it would just be some sweetness from the old juice hehe.

She has done well to come off the drugs and I think compared to them the smoking isn't really that big a deal. She is finding it hard not smoking but even if she cuts down to 10 a day it is better than 20+ a day. I just don't want to encourage vaping if that is just as bad as smoking while pregnant. I tend to vape more than I smoked, especially in the evenings, so if she is vaping a lot she could end up taking in even more nicotine than when she was smoking.
I don't have to worry about that because I use low nic when I'm vaping a lot and I'm not pregnant.

Maybe the closest thing to be found is a study using nicotine replacement therapy. I was interested to read in the last article that a pregnant woman may need more nicotine than she did before pregnancy: "In pregnancy, the metabolic clearances of nicotine and cotinine (the principal metabolite of nicotine) are increased by 60% and 140% respectively. [15]. Accordingly, even when pregnant women take standard doses of NRT for adequate periods, these may still be ineffective because they may require higher doses of NRT to replace the nicotine they would have received via smoking."

I knew there was going to be a beautiful smile staring out at us... It comes through in all your posts and makes me happy when I come on and see that you've posted. Yahoo nice to meet all the newie volties.
Hmmm it's a tuff one about the vaping while pregnant as ecigs have no thorough proven testing done. my first thought were alone the lines of what they say about the NRT products while being pregnant, that is the closest product ( nicotine) related as I could think of. Surely it has to be at least better than all those other cig related chemicals, but there will always be risks, also it's the nicotine content that will be the major area of concern.

I have had a week of nearly ripping my hair out, going crazy , there's been an outbreak of fleas this year, that has sent a lot of people bonkers(crazy) in some of the other non vaping forums I'm joined to. While I've been really lucky in previous years my cats have always had their drops and the fleas have not gotten past the stage of becoming a problem..... Until last week. 1 flea here , 1 flea there and suddenly 1 flea a day jumping on me while I am in bed.... I've turned into this crazy commando flea killer and I'm over it. So i've been spraying and vacuuming and spraying everything with the potent stuff & some home made stuff and finally we are seeing some light and getting some sleep.
The last one I saw was two nights ago and he is now on display in a tub on the night stand.... I know it sounds crazy right???
Anyway there's been some posts in the past few pages that have really touched my heart, those of you struggling with things that you shouldn't have too, those of you that have witnessned things that no one should and those of you that have gone through the most difficulties of life's nasties. Awe forgot to mention my brother & wife decided to give the ecigs another go. It was only my sister in law who tried it a while back when I had the m401's. So they got a nice little package of stuff to give it a go and were quite excited. Brother got the black batt with the diamond tip and green led...... But I couldn'nt bring myself to tell him that I put the diamond cap on it as he was in awe over the nice bright light.... Even when he said he was going to bring it too his work to show all his mates lol... Oh well. I did say he could have the black stealth cap but he declined.
