Its a tough road...some made the switch easily some have been going back and forth for years...its a personal journey.... it can be as much mental as physical... don't get discouraged.

some advice ...don't play the mental game...of which one tastes better...which one feels better... because in the beginning of vaping...tobacco will win in your mind...it's what you are used to ...its what your body is craving... those that like vaping more then smoking have usually been doing it solely for quite sometime...

also you might try when you run out of cigarettes resisting the urge to go buy another pack (anxiety sets in I know) but just vape all day and watch TV ...stay on ECF... and just try not to buy another pack...eventually you go 2-3-7 days and then you are like ...well I can't go back now...and soon you are just a vaper and a non-smoker... that's what worked for me!! (the 3rd time I tried it I should add :) )

Thanks for the encouragement, Imagine & les_paul. I have noticed a shift. Sometimes now I want a cigarette, but after the first couple of puffs, I think, "Why didn't I just vape instead?" It's like vaping is making me enjoy cigarettes less, but habit makes me still go there. Meanwhile, sometimes I vape, and I think, "This really isn't a cigarette. It doesn't satisfy like an analog does." I opened the Smooth Sampler pack of more tobacco-like cartos and tried Desert Joe, because some people here said they liked it best. Maybe I should play around with the other flavors of the Smooth Sampler and see if another one appeals more. What about that 555 everyone's pining away for? Meanwhile, sometimes I still smoke those disposables I got at first to see if I even liked vaping. I guess getting 3 of them was overkill. So I have 4 different vaping possibilities, and I switch around with them and cigs. I think I like the taste of the coffee-flavored disposable best, so far. The other disposable flavors are tobacco and vanilla. And I tried someone's cinnamon and really, really liked that. I decided not to put any pressure on myself to give up cigs, to just see if vaping would take over. I still feel that's the best approach for me, but maybe I'm just making excuses.

Well, I just applied the "look, if you don't want to do it for yourself, do it for Grimm (our dog with lung issues)" guilt trip. It seemed to work, my husband put down the analog, picked up the volt and headed off into the other room (after giving a mock dirty look at the dog).

Let's see if the message lasts. :)

finding your goto-juice/flavor is really important!!! it's half the battle the other half is to find the right device ;)

Also ...to this day..after i eat...I have this really strong craving for an analog..then panic that i don't have one ...then the thought oh my VOLT...lasts about 3 seconds until i pick up my volt..then I am fine... just saying this because it's not an easy road..even for VETs at times :)

If you liked the coffee you will probably really enjoy the cappuccino in the smooth sampler. I also found the Cowboy to be closest to an analog flavor for me. I'm not a cinnamon girl - but that's just me:) I liked the 555 as well, haven't tried the Desert Joe yet - saving that one for tomorrow.

IMO, for whatever it may be worth, it's all in the flavor. I tried the tobacco's at first and nope....didn't even come close to cutting it. It was a coffee flavor that did it for me.....a caramel coffee actually. I got enough satisfaction with the flavor that I didn't have the urge to get the ciggies. I still love that flavor, but I have since found so many others that I love too...including a few tobacco flavors;)

Sandy, you may have answered this already, but I don't remember...what mg nic did you get? That can make a difference in satisfaction as well.

Keep at it Sandy! It's a battle. Some people give up analogs day 1 of their PV. Not me, that's for sure.

The Volt is really helping me though. I am down to the occasional cigarette when offered one. I can relate. There is something about a real cigarette...gotta believe there is more than just nicotine that is addicting in that recipe of 4000 herbs and spices.

Keep trying! I find this place really helpful, by the way.

Ditto. It took me 25 days before I didn't even want an analog. I cheated a few times afterwards, but more out of curiosity. Blech! Tasted nasty. Love my yummy carto/juice.

I think you have my number. Trying to replace an analog just doesn't do it, so I think finding some interesting flavors I really like is the way to go. I wanted tobacco flavor at first, but after liking the coffee flavor even better, I'm rethinking that. I thought I'd never want to vape a fruit, but my mind is opening to that possibility. We'll see ...

When I ordered the disposables, I got medium nicotine. They didn't have numbers, just high, medium, and low. I thought medium would be a good middle-of-the-road choice for a newbie. But when I first smoked them, I got nicotine overload, and I really didn't take all that many puffs. So when I got the Volt and samplers, I ordered low nicotine. With the disposables, I wanted to puff more, but I was afraid of feeling bad again. I think a lower level may let me puff longer, assuaging my need to puff, not just get a nicotine fix. I'm beginning to think my addiction to analogs is about more than just nicotine. I haven't figured out what else, but I can OD on nicotine and still not feel satisfied.

Hey SandySu, I just wanted to offer you a little empathy and encouragement, I'm a month and a half into vaping and I still really struggle with cravings, the first one in the morning is a very difficult thing for me to get past, and like Imagine, I still really miss one after I eat. It doesn't help that my husband is still buying a pack here and there and sneaking them (I know damn well he's not out there "watering the yard" right now, we have a sprinkler system for pete's sake) and I've had a drag here and there and you know what? They're awesome. They make me want to run back to smoking. But I hand them back and get my Volt out of my bra and vape smugly at him while he finishes his cig, and as Imagine said, when I hit the one-week mark I really started to not want to go back.

I think I will always struggle with cravings, but I know now that if I can just hold out or distract myself for just a few seconds, the craving will pass and the Volt will be enough.

and stay on ECF, I'm not even kidding when I say it has gotten me through my worst days when nothing else could.

Good Luck dear, we are all pulling for you whether you smoke or vape or both or neither.

Jill....one thing that does help is to find a flavor that is strong for you right now.....while smoking and for a spell afterwards your taste buds are skewed....like your lungs, they need to heal. Soon, you will taste things differently and those flavors that were just kinda meh...will be totally different. That may be why a coffee flavor worked so well for me...I could actually taste the same as the juice smelled....and flavors that I really didn't like in the beginning are wonderful now (cause I can actually taste them;)) I do the same after a meal, and first thing in the morning....I grab my pv before my feet hit the floor so I make sure I have a flavor in there that I like and is strong. Throughout the day, I use several different flavors....have 5-7 going at a time so I don't get bored. Just a few more thoughts that have helped me not even crave;)

Good advice Keela, I am still trying to find that perfect liquid, I did think it was interesting that coffee flavors were my first taste breakthrough, but I haven't had much luck with them as they seem to kill my cartos really fast. I just ordered a cinnamon liquid hoping for that strong flavor you referred to! I have already noticed my tastes changing for what I like, so I'm back to another round of ordering samples - lmao, when do I start saving money again?!?
