I didn't take it apart, but if I am recalling correctly I did remove the filler and that was burnt on the bottom. I'm sure it's going to happen again, when it does I'll take it apart and post an update if anyone hasn't done so already.

ETA: and if it is only the bottom of the filler that is burning then it's a simple matter of trim and re-stuff in order to fix the problem.

I'm wondering, were you using a drip tip on the carto or maybe pushed the flexible tip in really far? Reason I'm asking is because the filler never touches the heating coil. The coil is completely covered by the silica tube press-fit over the top of it. So I'm thinking the only way filler could get burned is if it were pushed down super-hard so that somehow the heat could get through the silica tube and toast the filler.

Also, I've taken the filling out and put it back in on these carts and it's really tedious to do this. It's because of how hard it is to get that little blanket of filler around that tube. The best way I found is this:

Take a coffee straw or bar straw and push a nail, bamboo stick, or something into the end of it until it's just wide enough to slide over the silica tube, it just does fit perfectly. Then wind the filler blanket around the straw until it's tight enough to fit inside the cartomizer. Slide the coffee straw over the silica tube and then slide the wound blanket of filler down into the cartomizer. Then gently pull the straw out, leaving the wound blanket in place. Voila. Tedious, but doable. :)

No to a drip tip and no to pushing the flexible tip in past the lip that should sit over the metal rim of the carto. I know, I've heard from several other people that it's impossible to burn the filler material on the horizonal coil. I'm pretty sure it is the filler that has burned on mine, but I'm not 100% positive, which is why I will take one completely apart the next time it happens, but it IS possible to burn SOMETHING about them. When it happens, I get that very distintive burnt carto taste and it doesn't go away when I top off so the carto is useless after that (unless I do surgery and determine it can be repaired with a little nip and tuck).

ETA: for the most part, unless the filler is full of my favorite juice and I'm down to my last 1ml, I'd personally rather toss it and start again with a fresh one, but your tips might come in handy one day so thanks :)

wasting 3ml seems a waste to figure that out. I've also filled a 3ml carto, only to burn it out, or find out it didn't work new out of the box, and now I'm out 3ml of juice I like instead of only 1ml of juice.

Have you considered just spinning the excess out? Might be able to recover a couple ml that way

I see... you're one of those 'glass is half full' types. :p OK I'll go along with that, this time. I'm glad you like your pink :)
So when it does arrive, I'll own a 102mm black, and a silver, pink, red & black in 78mm. While the silver pretty, I do prefer the finish on the others better. I'd also have a white & blue but they got 'lost in the mail' when my aunt sent them back to me. :glare: Those plus a charger, an expensive loss.
But now I think I'm good on batts until something more blingy comes along (hint hint)

So far, so good, not smoking and only worked half a day for no real reason, however, if everyone would be entertained by my laundry list of complaints I'm sure i could whip something up. I'm happy for you Imagine, I want a sunburn REAL BAD but sadly spring has yet to come here..... sigh. Guess the top stays on the Jeep for one more week!
