Hey SandySu, I just wanted to offer you a little empathy and encouragement, I'm a month and a half into vaping and I still really struggle with cravings, the first one in the morning is a very difficult thing for me to get past, and like Imagine, I still really miss one after I eat. It doesn't help that my husband is still buying a pack here and there and sneaking them (I know damn well he's not out there "watering the yard" right now, we have a sprinkler system for pete's sake) and I've had a drag here and there and you know what? They're awesome. They make me want to run back to smoking. But I hand them back and get my Volt out of my bra and vape smugly at him while he finishes his cig, and as Imagine said, when I hit the one-week mark I really started to not want to go back.

I think I will always struggle with cravings, but I know now that if I can just hold out or distract myself for just a few seconds, the craving will pass and the Volt will be enough.

and stay on ECF, I'm not even kidding when I say it has gotten me through my worst days when nothing else could.

Good Luck dear, we are all pulling for you whether you smoke or vape or both or neither.

We are all pulling for you!! The benefits will soon be obvious to you and your body. There are 4000 added chemicals in the tobacco that we put into our bodies for years: including MAOI's (which you might want to do a search on here at the forum). Your body is craving those even though you are getting the nicotine. I smoked a pack and a half to two packs a day for 42 years. During that time, I quit twice - just long enough to get through pregnancies. Within hours of leaving the hospital, I was back on the habit. I LOVED smoking! I didn't love the cough, the phlegm, the dirty ashtrays, the mess, the lectures from my doctors, ... and I didn't realize how bad I smelled until I quit.

Actually, I quit smoking accidentally. I ordered a PV purely out of curiosity. No one was more surprised than I was when I forgot to smoke after trying the PV. I loved everything about vaping. When I had a craving, I went for the PV. After about a week or so, I started feeling very dizzy and sick. Eventually, I was taken to the hospital by coworkers because I was going into shock. The reason? I was taking three blood pressure medicines prescribed for a heavy smoker and I was no longer a smoker!

One thing that I did to get past any cravings for "an analog" was I began to DIY my own eliquids. Some of the flavors that I came up with satisfied any cravings that I was having. Originally, I thought I wanted tobacco flavors - with menthol. Very quickly, I forgot all about tobacco taste when I could have Vanilla Custard, Strawberry Pie, Pina Colada, Grandma's Apple Pie - you get the picture. Play with different flavors. There's nothing that says that you have to finish a carto that you've started. Put the "condoms" back on it so it doesn't dry out, and pop a different one on your battery if you get bored with a flavor. Mix it up! Allow it to be fun, and it's less of a challenge.

Be advised that your body may stage a mild rebellion at about one week without analogs. It's upset because it was getting chemicals that you aren't giving it any more. Some folks experience a mild cough or cold for a couple of days. Even legs cramps, which mean that you need more water. PG metabolizes in the muscle tissue, and water intake cures this problem very quickly. Soon, your sense of taste and smell will return, you'll be able to breathe easier. My doctors are so impressed with the way my lungs sound now. Good luck SandySu and all of you that are taking The Big Step! :vapor:

Wow! That's really interesting about MAOIs. I knew something was missing from e-cigs that made me still crave analogs. I didn't know what it was, but I could feel it. So now I have a name for it, but still don't know what to do. Someone somewhere in the reading I just did suggested exercise, and it's interesting that when I go to the barn and ride my horse, I don't smoke for hours, but when I sit home at my computer, I take a cigarette break every 15 minutes or so. Now, part of this may be that you can't smoke in the barn nor is it all that easy while riding a horse, the Marlboro man notwithstanding, but being distracted while being physically active probably reduces the craving. The first thing I did when driving away from the barn after riding was to light up. Now, I vape. Since my car stinks, and a comment about that was what started me on e-cigs, I've stopped smoking in my car, and just vape while driving now.

Anyway, thanks for confirming something I suspected, observing my cravings.

Oh, yes, I've been meaning to ask this, and your message had it in it. What does DIY stand for? That's one abbreviation I can't point my cursor at to see the meaning. Of course, I've been trying to figure it out with no success.

that's got to be the endorphins exercise gives you that takes the cravings away - endorphins = good, happy brain. We go out in the yard and play badminton and within 5 minutes we are useless and rofl laughing our a%%@s off - gotta love that exercise high!

I got my order today, pretty happy, and mum seems to like her kit so hopefully she can ditch the tobacco. *fingers crossed*

However....I ordered a 65mm black battery with a green LED, but mine is blue. :( I know it might seem silly, but I was REALLY keen on green because of matching my green hair. :( I've emailed support, but I needed to have a bit of a whinge somewhere...LOL. Does anyone else have any experience of what happens when the incorrect item is sent, particularly outside the US? Will I have to send it back at my cost? Coz posting to the US starts at $10.50AU/$11.15US which is more than I paid for the battery.

Also I think I might be allergic to the juice, coz my tongue and back of my throat feels weird. (that's probably allergy, right?) I'm hoping it's allergy and not that there is nicotine in my 0mg cartos! I'm going to order some local juice (nic can't be sold here, so no chance of a mixup) in PG and VG and unflavoured, so I'm sure I'll be able to figure out what's best, and I can just give my Volt cartos to mum coz she seems to be fine with her low nic cartos.

Regarding your tongue and throat feeling weird. If you are new to vaping it could just be reaction to the PG in the mix. Some people find they are allergic to PG. My wife felt this for the first few days and then got used to it. Also it is not unusual at first to feel dry throat and tongue. It could just take a little getting used to and drinking more water while vaping helps.
If after a few days with drinking more water it does not go away then I would say try a mix with more VG and less PG.

Hope that helps.

I actually DID try to dye my hair blue last week! Except I've been dying it green so long, most of the green didn't come out, so now it's green with bits of dark blue. LOL. It's more that green is my favourite colour and along with my hair, most of my accessories are green and I really like colour coordination, which is why I wanted the green LED. My other battery is the silver with blue LED, but I got that because the silver is totally sci-fi. (OMG I am such a nerd.... Also, there should be a silver battery with red LED - then it would be a Cylon Volt!) But it's all good, I got a reply from Smokeless Image saying they were out of stock of that battery but sent the order anyway so I wasn't waiting for ages, and they'll send the right battery ASAP. How awesome is that? ^_^ You guys weren't kidding about the customer service.

My meds give me pretty insane dry-mouth as it is, and to combat dehydration headaches etc I drink about 2L of water a day, so I'm already good on the drinking water regularly. It feels like I've had those throat lozenges that are meant to numb your mouth and throat....some people like it but I can't stand it! I've read that some people are allergic to PG, and some to VG, so it's a bit annoying but not unexpected. My plan is to try each main ingredient separately and figure out whether I'm reacting to the PG, VG, or flavour. Science experiments, here I come!

What flavor are you vaping? Mints and menthols give me that sensation even with zero nic.

I've tried Vanilla, Watermelon and Grape so far. I thought it was in my head at first coz to me the Grape tastes exactly like purple Soothers (which, yeah, I hate!) but then I tried the others and it's the same feeling. I do like the Watermelon a lot though, it tastes exactly the same as my watermelon lip balm from The Body Shop. :)
