Be sure you're putting the needle between the inner wall of the carto and the padding...I start with the needle all the way to the bottom and push the syringe just a little. Wait a second or two, then pull the needle up to the middle of the carto, and push a little more. These 2 steps get about 80% of the liquid out of the syringe. Then I pull up the needle another small amount and push the rest of the juice into the carto.
Then just for tidiness' sake I pull the syringe completely out of the carto filling while the syringe is fully depressed, and stick the needle into the airhole and pull back on the syringe. This usually gets out any extra juice and keeps the carto from leaking.
Doing this will also stop the "gurgle" sound that means there's liquid in the air tube...
HTH!

I'm taking notes on all this. I have yet to fill or clean a carto, though when I empty some, I'll give it a try. I take it you don't have to clean a carto that was prefilled before filling it again? How many fillings before you should clean it? If you add juice w/o cleaning, is it best to use the same flavor as before? If you use a different flavor, how much influence will the old flavor have?

I just use the syringe method for filling a new blank or just-cleaned carto -- the rest of the time I just drip 10-12 drops of the same juice into it when the flavor starts to diminish. (I learned the hard way when I first started with 808's that if you wait until it tastes burnt, it's too late!)

I'll top off pre-filled with the same or very similar flavor...tobacco's with tobacco's mainly. If you add a different flavor of liquid you'll either end up with something new and wonderful or something foul and vile  Like adding a few drops of vanilla liquid on top of almost any flavor of carto usually works ok, but accidentally dripping grape on top of camel is kinda nasty:blink:

It's tough to say how many fillings with similar flavors you can get before you clean the carto...I've had some carto's last a week or more without cleaning, and some last a day without cleaning. When a carto starts tasting bad, the first thing I'll do is drop a few drops in it and put it on another battery -- if it still tastes bad, it's time for a cleaning. Different juices and vaping styles can make the dreaded "crudnuggets" grow faster than others. If it tastes bad, take it off the battery and just blow through it into a tissue. If it's hard to blow through or you get brown gunk in the tissue, it needs cleaning.

I don't mix a lot of flavors in new blanks or cleaned cartos -- if I'm in the mood for some fruity or sweet flavor I'll use a new blank carto. But since I vape mostly tobacco's, I've always got plenty of carto's to refill. I don't vape menthols/mints, but I've heard from other folks that it's tough to get minty/menthol/cinnamonredhots types of flavors out of a carto -- so I wouldn't try to re-use one of those for some other flavor.

HTH !

I will second this also.
Another note...I only fill with either syringe if I have a lot to do, or drip....either way, I ALWAYS use the bottom cap...(the one with the plug) on the carto....it prevents any loss of liquid through the air tube. The best thing about the syringe method is...if you happen to overfill, you can suck it right back up into the syringe and put it back into the bottle (or another carto) instead of wasting it into a tissue. The absolute SAFEST fill method for auto batts is the syringe.

Kee, don't make me smack you: That is NOT, repeat, NOT COPPER!!! (Albeit it is a lovely shade of orange!) ;)

EEEEK....Lady El...I beg your forgiveness....I fergot:facepalm: Can I say that it was a VERY deep DARK copper??? I know a true copper has more of a light pink tinge to it, but...but...but CRAYOLA calls that copper:cry: Iza so Saaaweeeeee:(

I need more batteries, waaaahh! I guess I've sort of started chain vaping while I wasn't paying attention over the last couple of weeks, I'm sitting here with my silver one dying, the red one plugged into the wall, the black 78 plugged into the computer, a shorty still awol in the house and the rest out at work with the hub.

Oh, well, I needed more end caps anyway, the wily little buggers are so hard for me to keep track of.
