Several have commented on 65mm vs 78mm. I started out with three 78mm batts because I was worried about how long they would last (probably due to the many other threads that complained about the 501 minis and older 808 technology). Well, the 78s last quite a while for me.

I just received my first 65mm (green with green LED) and like the weight of it somewhat better. I'll have to go through several charging cycles before I really know how long it lasts, but I think the 65s will be fine for me.

Just my $0.02...

Hi Guys :) - just thought I'd check in with an update / "quicky" :p. . . And so no one thought I was in "Hiding" . . .8-o

Been Up North for the past couple of days in the :glare: "Flooded" areas :nah: with Friends . . . Have Family (Live in Frenchtown, NJ and Wilkes Barre, PA) who had to evacuate :-x THEIR HOMES - Again ! ! !

Thankfully  - Everyone Okay :D - But, HORRIBLE ! ! ! past 2 days - Since ground saturated with water because of Irene every single Creek/Stream/River are over flowing, Flood Warnings all over, 200 yr old trees down, mud slides, boulder off hillsides, roads closed, schools closed, no electricity, etc., etc., etc. :?:. . .

However, things are starting to get back to normal for everyone there . . . :rickroll:

:( :( :( And now in NYC for 9-11 memorial services and "stuff" with very close friends :( :( :( . . .
And - Talk about "Heighten Security"    . . . Although very needed right now. . . "Bridges/Tunnels" to and from extremely long lines . . . AND the Worse, yet is the "grid" lock . . . All major thoroughfares avenues/streets in Manhattan are closed down to one lane) :censored: - Public Transportation is the only way to get around . . . Glad - I know it so well ;) . . .

Anyway - while I may not be posting as regularly , I'll be lurking every now & then just to see what everyone is up too ;) . . . Hey, BTW, "ConnieBGood", "DM-555", and everyone else - THANKS for taking up the slack & adding a few more - and might I say a couple of new wonderful - "emoticons" to their post in my absences. :D

EDIT: BTW, It is H*LL doing these post with a "smartphone" - the only thing I have access to right now ! ! !

Yep, I get some really ugly color combos sometimes, when I use my old cartos with my cool Volt batts! Almost embarrassing!
...although, I wouldn't mind some CHROME blanks! :)
I'm actually looking into silver Metalized Polyester Film tape ("Mylar" - withstands boiling if I ever want to go that route) for this. But dang, what am I gonna do with 72 yards of it??? That's a lot of cartos!
I've heard this request before - for stainless or chrome batts. Have you ever removed the sticker from one of your Volt cartos and used something like Goo Gone to remove the excess adhesive? The result is a very attractive stainless carto. It isn't mirror-finish like the chrome batts, but then you don't have to constantly wipe fingerprints off either. Some fine steel wool would probably buff it up even more. Just an idea ...

Like a few others, I placed an order today too. My credit card was already braced for the onslaught, so I figured: What the heck. I'm replacing my "Gotta go to work 510 mega batt with adapter and Volt carto Crew" with Volt 78's. The performance is just soooo much nicer when you mate a Volt carto with a Volt batt. Picky, picky, picky.

Yeah, but it doesn't look great on the chrome batt. I even polished it with 1200 grit sandpaper and rubbing compound. Ick, too much work for a disposable! I think the tape thing would be easier - but I don't think the regular vinyl stuff would hold up to boiling, which I might end up doing for stubborn flavors, so I'm back to the high-temp stuff. You wanna split a roll? They go for around $30 +/-.

Y'all need to talk to DM. :) I NEVER boil my carts. From another post on here I learned about soaking mine overnight in a mix of 50/50 water and 100 proof vodka. Rinse them under hot water and then use a sonic cleaner. I bet you would only have to run them under hot water after the soak though. Vodka dissolves stuff even boiling might have a problem with.

Never have ruined a cart that way and have by boiling. :( Never had any problems with skins on carts coming off either. Just my :2c:

I used to boil cartos a long time ago. I know heat helps release gunk but I have had just as good if not better results just by soaking them in water.."Vodka would help to".... over night.. Then with water hot to touch, I flush them out with Vapians "cleanonater" method and let them sit out in the sun for the day or inside for a couple before juicing up.

I have never had a carto that vaped as good as a new one after 10 refills or even after a good cleaning. Just not the same IMO.

As far as vinyl, nylon, plastic or rubber materials with adhesive found on the market, most adhesives on any of them will begin to separate at 200 degrees....even the stock black cartos begin to edge lift and peel after a few refills or boiling. Most common adhesive is acrylic base and will leave nasty sticky residue behind.

2 things........

1. Be sure that what ever you use isn't thicker than 7mils or you can forget about the PCC...it won't fit:p
2. Be sure that the material can be used for compound curves.......most materials want to return to there natural state. If it dosen't shrink it will wanna flatten out just the way you bought it.

Wrapping batteries for only a year now I have one line...
"Cast vinyl with permanent solvent based adhesive or notin:)"

Forgot to mention...... I forgot who, somebody or somebody's got a diamond plate graphic film. A "metalized" foil film vinyl I sent them. The edges began to lift just like it did with mine after a few days of use. With that said, I don't recommend metalized or foil films.

I've had exactly the same results with metalicized / foil films in the extremely limited scope of my experience. It's necessary to glue the leading edge as it pulls up ... and re-glue ... and re-glue ... and re-glue. Not worth it.

You're right: It doesn't look great side by side with the chrome batt, but it would look very nice with any of the other colors. Nope, not interested in splitting a roll. I like my black cartos - especially with the gold on black flavor labels on 'em. The only stainless carto I have is my flavor tester carto. Thanks for the offer though. :)

Try looking for a hobby shop that sells model airplanes. They use a heat shrink mylar covering and make a repair/trim tape for it in a lot of colors. They come in small rolls. Monocote is the main brand but there are several others. I use it on my models for field repairs. Inexpensive and takes a lot of heat from the Florida sun as well as abuse. If you're going to put it in a pcc you've probably got to take the black tape off first but I don't know that. It's pretty thin. I haven't tried it on cartos yet but it should work well. Guess I'm just a black and white guy. I'm happy with black on black batteries most of the time. I've got a few white batteries but seem to reach for black first. They also have trim sheets but they're thicker. It would be an inexpensive try but leave your husband home or it could wind up costing you a fortune.:lol::lol::lol:
