yeah, try to make it sound easy all you like; I still aint buyin it!

Seriously it is. DM send samples out to several of us. I did mine the same way that StarSong suggested. It's easier than when I made my own skins because his are cut precisely to fit. Easy squeezee.

okay, this actually does make me feel a bit more confident about the whole thing!

So what, are they more like the non-permanent window/wall decals then pure, sticky all over my fingers to the point I cant put my fork down, stickers?

Now I'm intrigued!

Not like window decals, more like shelf paper. They will stay put for quite awhile, or you can choose to remove them and it comes off pretty clean, not gobs of goo left on the battery, the little bit of sticky cleans off easy. I just had to remove the sparkle one from my chrome battery cuz the edge peeled up and I kept picking at it, but it was on there for over a month. Now I can put a different one on :)

Wasn't sure - MY BAD . . .

However, I rather have been "wrong" about my assumption - than to have missed it, so I'm glad you cleared it up . . . :)

BTW: Being a "counselor" I look at things a little differently and notice "stuff," so it's nice to know you understand my concern - THANKS ! ! ! :D

You cant be "wrong" when you error on the side of kind!

Really, its a possibility I unfortunately would have never picked up on if I had read the same, and I applaud your attention to the feelings and situations of others. It warmed my heart even knowing you were concerned it might be a possibility!

I found the easiest way for me to apply the skins was to lay it on my desk sticky side up and just roll the battery over it. Trick was to make sure it started out straight. You know how if you don't center a package just right when putting on wrapping paper then the two ends overlap a little crooked? Same thing here, but if it doesn't look like it is right at first, just roll back and start over.

You make it sound so easy, I might give it a try. I've been scared to do this and mess up a perfectly good battery, but if I make a mistake or 2 or 3, they come off, right? There's no way I'd center the hole where the button is on my manual, though, and I really don't want to cover the raspberry one, anyway. From what I've read here, it sounds like my silver one is the best candidate.

Yeah, thats my thing - dont want to ruin a battery after I add an inevitable bubble somewhere on one of my favorite batteries

Since I need to order a new hole-less auto Monday anyway though, maybe its time for a Silver Volt :D

It really is easy! I got some from DM too. I actually never ended up doing any batteries but did a ton of cartos. I did all mine freehand rather than rolling on a table. You do have a chance to correct mistakes before you hit the point of no return.

I can't remember who it was, but if anyone loses an eyebrow trying to wrap a battery I'll cover their replacement wraps...but you have to post a pic of said missing eyebrow ;)

Thats awesome, and totally gives me the courage to try my hand at it! I was thinking they would really be like the paper-feeling stickers which wont come off no matter what you do.

I figure its hard enough to get my Volt out of my hand as it is - if they had sticker residue from my crummy labeling job on top of that...

actually, while the sentiment is extremely kind... I actually just royally suck at applying decals  lol

And ironically, painting and sculpting is my thing; stickers though - their like kyrptonite for some bloody reason  I swear, I cant keep from getting a giant bubble running right smack dab in the middle of whatever it is I am trying to place to save my life!

Again, thank you soo much for the thought though!

I feel your pain.
When my boys were little I would try to help them put the decal stickers on a toy and they would tell me "no, dad will do it"

You know what . . . A round of View attachment 56018 is due for EVERYONE ! ! ! !
(AND I DO MEAN EVERYONE ! ! !)

Although, I have not been here a long time, it's been awhile since I've seen so many "Volters" online at the same time (16 in total right now) . . . View attachment 56017

AND - it does not surprise "Me" that it was to "rally" around "To Defend and Protect" one of OUR OWN . . . :D

For that alone, I am proud to be a part of this Forum/Thread/Group and to call myself a "Volter" . . .

SO A GREAT BIG - Thank You to One and All ! ! l View attachment 56019

AND without-a-doubt - It's been a lot of FUN and "FLUFF" . . .

So I was finally able to "present" the Volt to my daughter's friend this afternoon. I had ordered a kit for him when we had that reeeaallly good coupon code. All in all, I think it went very well. He only tried his 555 carto, but seemed quite pleased with it. He left with his kit and a bundle of extras from me. He may pay us a visit here. I'm so tickled. My daughter was very happy as well. Keep your fingers crossed for him! :)
