Hehehe. Well yeah, that is the reason I call myself "Darkstar" - Grateful Dead song, if you happen not to know :) But I really listen to everything from the early days (Kinks, (pre-StevieNicks) Fleetwood Mack, Yardbirds, etc) to the Psychedelic/Jam Scene (GD, Quicksilver, Spirit, etc) to harder and even later rock (Zep, Tull, Mountain, Sabbath, ACDC, etc) and most in between! Never be a time like it - the creativity and desire to push the limits is unbelievable.

As do I really, and I actually have a bunch of my old CDs still in my car just in case. Was even listening to Tool/Undertow just the other day (long drive, and perfect music for that) and (although they are on the lighter side of that scale) have a copy of Blind Melon in one of my cars CD slots currently.

Much of it is a lot better then people used to give it credit for, and eventually I hope it gains some of the mainstream longevity popularity it probably deserves. Which is ironic really, because it became pretty "mainstream" when it shouldn't have been and has now lost it completely when it should have such as a reflective status.

(sad to say, we still haven't figured it out for you Kurt :( )

I'll have to find some songs of Fleetwood Mac's that were pre-Stevie Nicks. Still like listening to them on occasion. As for Tool, I have several of their CDs as well . . . glad I bought them. I agree about the mainstream. Once a song goes mainstream, it gets played to death while the rest of the album is ignored.

One of my favorites is Nirvana. I was talking to my oldest son the other day about them, wondering where they would be today if Kurt hadn't passed away. I would like to think that they wouldn't have sold out to the pop genre, like Linkin Park did.

Here's my one. It's not very good though and my webcam picture quality isn't great, so couldn't really see the Volt logo on the e-cig. Therefore decided to hold up the business card instead :)

Nice pic Fade2black! :)

A little blank here on many of the groups you folks are talking about. I'm an old hippie, so it's Floyd and Zepellin for me along with a lot of other Soft and Classic Rock. My daughter turned me on to Rusted Root and Enigma. I also like a lot of ethnic sounds. Today I'm on a Twelve Girls Band kick while I wait to pounce on the mailman.

You might enjoy this *or not*. The video itself is dorky, but the music is beautiful (to me).

The pre-Nicks/pre-Buckingham Fleetwood Mac was "Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac" - someone BB King said (something like) "only guy who gives me cold sweats" about. Awesome guitar! More a Blues-Rock band though, in the style of the earliest of Blues-rock. He came from the John Mayall (and the Bluesbreakers) stable, and I am fairly confident that both McVie and Mic Fleetwood (the two which FM is named from) were there as well, with them all deserting from that band to start their own. (Could be wrong there though...)

That song, "Albatross", is their wow moment, but he also Wrote/Performed "Black Magic Woman" (which is, of course, better known as a Santana hit)

Do check them out! Soooo much better then the Nicks/Buckingham incarnation! (they were good, but Green's was great!)

Oh, and mixed feelings on the Kurt thing. In Utero was a bit of a middle finger to his new found "fans" gained from the release of Nevermind - but he also did the Unplugged set, which makes you wonder... However, his frustration is said to have stayed to the very end, so I personally think he would have eventually (and probably fairly quickly) pulled a Syd Barrett type exit.
(Which if you dont know who Syd Barrett is, look into the earliest days of Pink Floyd - pre David Gilmour)

@Rave, oh come on, most of the groups we are talking about are from your hippie days then! :D But don't dislike that video at all. Not something I would revolve often, but I can feel it too :)

Yeah - I'm a little slow (or so I've been told - lol) but I was referring to bands that you folks were discussing several pages back (cuz I was playing catchup on the thread). Strange, exotic-sounding groups like: Beastie Boys, RunDMC, Soundgarden, AIC, Tool, and Nirvana. Seriously not in the Woodstock generation.

* All excited * I have a soft'nfuzzy, furry Volt! Well, at least it looks like it is. That'd be a pain in the tuchus to keep clean if it really were. It's true: "simple things amuse simple people"

That pretty cool right there. I'm really digging the tip. Although puffing on that with my hot pink hair may draw a little attention I might not care for lol.

Ok so I am making a request. No one has asked me to make this request but I feel I must make it.

I love love love that everyone is participating in the volt pictures...and I will get one up for you guys soon as well (it's just been really busy here as we will be closed this weekend) so soon I promise. I encourage everyone to participate, but I ask that no one else encourage others to join in.... (good intentions or not ...it may feel like peer pressure) ... I know everyone here has nothing but the best intentions, but some people I am sure who participate in the thread may just like their anonymity and privacy the way it is.... and may feel bad or obligated that they did not join in... and I just don't want anyone to fell that way.

I have received some entries through PM...which is also a way to enter :)

So please enjoy and share your pics.. but lets not coax anyone into sharing ;)

Thanks !!! LOVE you guys!! you are the best!!!

so I am holding the sample new PCC in my hands... gotta say its in function as pretty perfect a technology will allow at this point in time ;)

Just wondering about the styling ....

What is everyone's thoughts on a clear color cover like on the mega? choice of grey/blue and purple? instead of it being all black like the current slider ? (as we had to loose the light up logo to make room for more battery power).... looks kinda boring all black now...

Oh, hehehe. Yeah, those are all 80-90s groups ranging from Rap/Rap-rock (RunDMC & BeastieBoys) to Alternative Rock/Grunge-Metal (Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Tool & Nirvana).

I do have to say I am a tad surprised if you don't at least know something about the Beastie Boys and Nirvana though - both generally land on the "Top 100 Bands" lists when released by organizations like Rolling Stone. The two are heralded as having changed music forever, with the Beasties ushering in the "White guy Rap scene", Rap-Rock and a lot of Hip-Hops mainstream popularity in general, where Nirvana (and its lead singer, Kurt Cobain) basically brought about the "Seattle / Grunge" & mainstream Alternitive-Rock scenes overnight with the release of "Smells Like Teen Spirit"

Here are the songs (Anthems, really) which put the two groups on the world-wide super-star maps if you do have any interest what so ever on catching up on some stuff you apparently missed :)
Smells Like Teen Spirit
(You Gotta) Fight for your Right (To Party!)
- although Sabotage is a later-release that is really more in the style the Beasties are known for (and even if you dont like the song, its one fantastic video if you've ever loved watching 70s cop-dramas...)

Probably not be your thing, but it's also sometimes nice to hear what is widely recognized as ground breaking...

Listening right now. What a difference! I like Green's style. :)

I just read about Syd Barrett. What a shame. :( I think you're right about Kurt. I watched a tribute about him after his death, where they filmed him performing. Looking back on that, I saw some similarities between him and Barrett.

I have the blue mega. The design is good. My only qualm is that I wish the color wasn't so see through, but that's my preference.
