But we do get some pretty aspens...

and they usually grow in patches so you get clumps of yellow on the hillsides.

What a beauty she is, big healthy girl. I've heard that spots on a fawn are telling of their gender - more straight lines being a little buck, more all-over being a little doe. Don't know how so that is. You are so lucky to see them relaxed and feeling safe - that's a rare treat.

I'm putting NY on my bucket list. My dream vacation would be a tour of the east coast. Some day I'll do that.

You really should come this way and look me up. There are bumper stickers on the cars hereabouts that say, Ithaca Is Gorges. No, they didn't spell gorgeous wrong. They are referring to the many gorges (westerners might call them canyons) in the area, carved out by glaciers and water with many, many waterfalls. There's one close to where I live (a long walking distance, maybe something over 3 miles) that's pretty famous as being higher than Niagara Falls. Definitely not wider, but the highest single-drop fall east of the Mississippi, I hear. This was taken in Oct. '05, a better foliage year than we're now having. You can judge the size if you look at the tiny people in front of the falls on the viewing platform.

BTW, a magazine in an article trying to tempt doctors to the Ithaca area actually paid me to let them publish this photo.

That is the preferred method of transport Occasionally people ride their horses down my street and it's not like I live out of town...it's only 2 miles to downtown Somewhere I have a picture of two people on horseback in the drive thru line at the coffee shop down the street

Well, you gotta know, folks, that my place isn't big. If you all come together, you'd have to stay at one of the lovely b& b's in the area or rent a house on the lake. I can sleep 2 people who want to sleep together in the living room. That's it. If you want a hammock in the backyard, no problem -- there are some trees -- or a tent might work better.

Dude... Is it me, or am I the only one that doesn't get to look at beautiful trees, mountains, deer, and rivers everyday. I love L.A., but I hate it at the same time. Everyone lives in their concrete bubble, then gets in their bubble car, and sits in bubble traffic, then works in their skyscraper bubble and repeats the process the next day.
BTW... Today was a special day... Our President graced us with his presence and caused an extra hour in peak traffic this morning! YAY!
