i think we all became attached to yeti this afternoon :p

Amazing how attached to an animal you can become in a short afternoon by a simple act of kindness from you and a simple show of affection (sluuuurrrrp) from him isn't it. I think I'd get a box of Milk Bones or rawhide treats in case he comes visiting again. You may not have seen the last of him.

Blond Cujo has now moved to the other side of my car. It's been 5 hours since I first noticed him out there. That doesn't seem right. Hope he's not sick. :( In this neck of the woods, there is no Animal Control (other than a rifle). You should see the size of this thing! Maybe the car adds a bit of scale.

Awe rave he looks like a big chow chow / samoa dog. Doesn'nt tail between its legs mean its frightened? Non threating- maybe just needs a bit of a feed and some water!! You can do it rave, leave a snack trail ot he window, keep some in your car, then you can feed, jump in car get to letterbox and get back relatively fine.... You can do it!! Hehe

No - we called around and found his owner. *sniff* Yeti (Major) has a sister who's been moping around all day because her litter mate was missing. So *sniff* Yeti is gone.

Forgot all about that package ...
No worries - I'm sure Major will remember your kindness and drop by to visit every now and then....Look on the bright side - you don't have to pay for the upkeep! Kinda like playing with someone else's kid.

Hey, I was talking to my nephew tonight, who has gone cold turkey off analogs with his brother. He said they were both struggling. I suggested trying e-cigs and he said "No way, I don't wanna be inhaling lithium." Now, is that even possible? Aren't the batteries inside completely sealed like regular AAA batts? This was a new one on me, and if anybody's taken one of these apart (ahem, SteelJan), I could be armed with some cold hard facts next time.

Maybe you should adopt both dogs instead of Yeti alone...Two is always better than one and twice the joy :)

There's not a chance that Rollie (Yeti/Major's owner) would let him go. He was sooo overjoyed that we found him. He's an important "worker" at their farm and a member of the family as well. A small section of the fence was down and I guess Yeti/Major found the opening. Boy dogs will be boy dogs. He was three miles from home!!

So happy to hear that the dog is loved and wasn't abused! ...but I would still keep some ham around, just in case he decides to visit. :)

That's a long way!!! Glad to hear that he didn't suffer any mishaps before he found you. Our dog (a samoyed) used to jump our fence all the time. Fortunately, he never wandered any farther than our block but my dad would always have to go get him and bring him home.

Now, I'm tempted to have my husband dismantle one of my batteries in order to get an answer to that question. But I'm not yet willing to destroy a battery in order to find out.

I'm so happy Yeti's made his way home!! :) I was watching the thread and was so worried about him! I'm a total dog lover and can't stand hearing about a dog in pain, or scared, or lost. I knew he was in great hands though, when you fed him ham even though you thought he was a rabid killer. lol. I'm sure you made a very scared dog feel a lot more comfortable. Way to take care of him and help him find his way home!! You're awesome, possum. :D

I really want to thank everyone who responded to my post. It may seem strange, but I am blown away by the friendly support and acceptance. I am so used to sites where everyone is critical, and it's "my way or the highway". I think I like it better here.:)

Yay big hugs!!!!

Rave appologies that my post regarded more to the sounds of the animal's welfare with little to your own.
I hope your son has been back since and you are okay

I'm late to the party, but happy to see Yeti/Major was reunited with his family. Also happy you gave him some food & comfort. :)

There has been a few times recently that I've seen lost dogs wandering around our neighborhood. It just hurts my heart to see animals that are lost, scared, injured, hungry, etc. I try to help but there's only so much I can do. Most recently a chihuahua was lost/stolen and the owners have plastered the town with posters along with a $5,000 reward. They even hire people to stand on major intersections holding up large posters. Sad thing is "Minnie" was lost mid-October, and they are still relentlessly searching. Makes me sad :(

That'll teach me to post first then read later. Proud of you Rave!!! Today you saved the big furry ball of fluff, glad to hear he is fine and his owners were found. Sad though isnt it. Even when its only for a few hours you become attatched. But Rave he will come back for a visit, he choose your peacefull haven for a rest, you repayed him with some love and a treat. Animals never forget those that are kind to them.
