SandySu, I got the carrying case at the end of December, so I've had it for a while. I didn't notice an odor when I got it or when I used it. But after reading the posts about it smelling I got mine out, opened it and actually put it right up to my nose. I can detect a faint odor that is similar to the smell of new shoes. I guess the question would be whether our sense of smell is as subjective as our sense of taste.

Anyone else have an issue with the battery fitting in the v2 PCC? On mine the door would not close with the battery installed, so I tried pushing down on it with a little force and closing the door, only to break off the plastic tabs on the door. I am wondering if I just got a dud or if its a known issue. I emailed them just now asking the same thing. Its really ashame because this thing rocks. Holds exactly what I have been looking for for a long time.

The only folks having problems unfortunately were putting in the battery the wrong way (myself included)

About 2 months ago, my hubby put up some wooden vertical blinds that had been sitting in the garage for over a year. Undamaged, but had a bit of a mildew smell.
My point is, you volties having issues with the smell of the case, how about trying what we did? After installing the blinds, I sprayed them with Febreeze for about a week. The smell is gone! In relation to the stinky cases, why not leave them open with nothing in them, and lightly spraying them for a few days? It should work?! ;)

I bought SI because of many great reviews including this one. Smokeless Image Volt Review - The Chainsaw Test? - YouTube By SteelJan, where she explains why the SI horizontal carto is better than the rest (This is NOT the carto I got with my order). In another video (I can't find at the moment) SteelJan makes a comparison to another 'horizontal' coil. This other sub par carto is just a vertical coil turned on its side with a sliced inner tube over it. (This is what I got)

I kept getting a burnt taste, new carto/new liquid, didn't know why, this is supposedly difficult to do with the horizontal SI carto.... so I took a carto apart and found the vertical coil on its side with a sliced tube jammed over it.

I found the video, this is the “horizontal” coil I have on my cartos. The 'sneaky factory' fake horizontal coil.

One of my many problems with my Volt order.
Not happy.

If im not mistaken, the easiest way to tell if the carto's you do get are Real Vert carto's is look down the hole against any light and you should see through it. Thats been my very short experiance with them, I use a paperclip to punch any tiny amount of fillier that might block the hole. If you stick the clip in and theres alot of resistance, its not like the ones SI sent me with a straight through tube. If thats wrong advice, someone please correct me, its what ive observed so far and the hole is perfectly seethrough on new prefilled,s also. Smokless Image cartos are far better for some reason then a Bloog, the One Bloog ive tried so far was a dud after refilling. Not one of the SI ones have been.(only one refill on all 14 but still).

did anyone ever try any of the "marking carto" methods you were all talking about? I bought some tiny little circular stickers made by "avery" for marking pages. there is only 4 colours though.
Maybe you can do 4 categories of flavors and write initials on them with a sharpie?

Stacey, I'd really appreciate hearing how this goes. Does the smell dissipate? I want to get a carrying case, but not if it's going to stink up the contents. I'd be patient if airing it out for some time seems to help. Or if you think of another way of deodorizing it, please let me know. Anyone else besides Cloudshroud have this problem, too? Any solutions?

I don't have one, but if I did, I would wipe it out with a mild vinegar/water solution and then let it air out overnight.

I bought a Brother P-Touch portable label maker, not the kind you connect to your computer. It arrived the other day, but I haven't tried it yet. Waiting for the sale so I can order cartos, then mark them with the labels. I got clear with white printing so that they will look OK on the black cartos or any other color SI might come up with in the future, though white with black printing came with the machine. Once I use it, I'll let everyone know what I think of it.

if you push the battery over to the right the back should slide right on

we have made no changes to the carto design since we began selling our cartos. Steel Jan still buys our cartos as well....

I am not sure what differences you have seen ....

A dry taste could be from having them be underfilled....

100% VG would definitely have wicking issues....

and not sure how thick the other PG VG juice you are using is...

thicker darker color liquids do not wick very well unfortunately... they have to be extremely saturated and kept that way to avoid a dry atomizer (which gives you the burnt taste)

I would suggest sticking with the prefilleds until you get past some of the analog withdrawls :)

or trying some clearer thinner juices with our cartos I am sure you will find a better experience. :p

Thanks.

Yes that was a fresh carto. I filled it last night, tried to vape using it this morning. I'm using Virgin Vapor, 100% VG. I have used this same liquid (same bottle) in a friend's carto by another supposedly similar company (begin's with a b) without issue. An 80/20 pg/vg is also giving me problems in another carto, not much flavor and burnt taste.

My guess was my cartos weren't wicking well. Why, I don't know. Took one apart and I guess jumped to a conclusion, I just realized I am going through pretty strong nicotine withdrawal, so I'm very irritatable

marlou, no I haven't contacted SI yet, wanted to ask here first. I want to note: My other problems were mechanical, and SI took care of them promptly without issue.

I would love to show you my blue LED but sadly I officialy killed it on Friday.
I had just pulled it off the charger and laid it on my desk so I could swap it with the one I was using.
it rolled off and landed on the thread end on the epoxy coated cement floor.
Three foot drop. Instant death, no function at all.
Sadly I had only been using it about a month.

Damn, guess I'm just lucky, can't tell you how many times I've droped mine LOL
