Have you guys used the squape on the dna 40 with nickel?? I still can't get mine to work.
I've posted throughout this thread that nickel, tempered nickel to be exact, is all I use with the Squape, and it works great. I'm glad I haven't had to stuff anything in my 510 to keep it stable. But I do remove it and clean it every time I rewick it. Which really seems to help too. I found what caused my resistance to jump around was if any part of the coil was touching the deck. But with tempered nickel, it's easy to put it where you want it and have it stay there. Plus it doesn't squish together when you wick it.

One other thing, I couldn't get contact coils to work well. Once I went with spaced coils, a lot of my problems went away.

Just search from ni200 wire :)

I was assuming tempered nickel wire is different than "standard" ni200? As I am understanding, regular nickel wire is very soft - and as I am reading to understand the tempered nickel wire (ni200 also?) is stiffer more similar to kanthal?

Yeah, cutting it flush will get you there :)

Tried earlier tonight, cutting the wick straight at the edges of the base, and I get leaking... Pretty bad too. :(

You can get tempered and annealed ni200. Both are ni200 wire. They just react differently. All depends on what you want. When you click on ni200 you have two options to go for..tempered and annealed. They are both ni200. Not something else if you get what i mean.

I had the same issue first, all depends on the amount of cotton used and if it's sitting in the horizontal channels properly...

Well unfortunately my bell cap didn't last long :(
My niece dropped it out of my hand and it fell on a tile. Smashed at the rim under the chimney :(
Have such bad luck as dropped my kayfun the other day, only realised I've smashed the glass ONCE again (did it once before too)
Scared to use any mod at all now. Can't afford to buy another bell vape cap either now as need a new deck...

I'm so sorry....this stuff is not cheap to replace. I'm still waiting on my bell cap and now I'm wondering if all glass is such a good idea. I love my nano and using it now, but I know a lot of people don't like not having some sort of window to see juice levels. But it is unbreakable.

The second you say something is unbreakable, wanna know the first thing that happens...?

Quick, go knock on wood!!!

It's much firmer than annealed but still not as stiff as Kanthal. It is springy, but once you wrap it around your rod it stays put. It holds it shape really well. Don't torch or dry burn it. It's so easy to use, especially on the Squape, so if it gunks up, just toss it and wrap a new one. 30ga is my go to.

Thanks, now I'm paranoid. Where's me some wood. I will admit tho, the aluminum tank doesn't fell as solid as the stainless steel tank does. I prefer the heft of the original.

Hi all, I really need some help with my Squape R. I received it today (authentic) with the W deck. I've done a dozen builds so far and I just can't seem to get it right.
The main problem is either dry hits or very little flavour. I've tried 2.5mm and 3mm coils, more and less cotton, higher coil, lower coil. Most of the time, its a cottony taste but not a dry hit. I thought maybe I'd put too much cotton in so have tried less, but get exactly the same result.
I know the cotton is ok as has worked fine in my Lemo previously - which leaked badly but tasted great!

I'm using 28g Kanthal, current coil is 3mm 1.2ohm with top slightly protruding over the deck. I've got the japanese cotton in the horizontal channels, some slightly higher than the deck and chopped off at the edge of the deck with none in the juice channels.

I am saturating the wicks before firing up.

I've attached some photos and hopefully somebody can tell me where I'm going wrong. I have noticed that I'm sometimes getting some liquid misting under the bottom of the tank by the 510 connector if that makes any difference.

The liquid I'm using works great in other tanks, just not this one at the moment. As its my first authentic and expensive RBA, I really want to nail this!

PS - having just submitted this post, I started with hardly any flavour, but am now getting dry hits.

Thanks in advance

Wow, no dry burn? The juices I enjoy are coil gunkers. New coil every day or two? That might be a deal breaker for me.

Ah man, are you having the worst of luck or what. Sorry to hear that man. If it's any comfort, I saw this happen to another user, either in this thread or on Facebook, so I guess the bell cap has a weak point at the threads :(

Lenghty and great description edited out, but quoting in case it highlights you or something.

Hmm, if you get a cotton taste, that's usually a sign of a tad too much cotton. Doesn't look like a crazy amount you're using though.
What does worry me, is you saying that you're getting liquid at the 510 connection. That shouldn't happen, as there's a o-ring sealing the positive screw and the 510 "channel". Maybe you could try unscrewing it to check if the o-ring is there and if it's damaged. That, and maybe a bit less cotton, even if you say you've already tried that.

I've attached a couple of pictures of a typical build for me. Coil height should only effect flavor/throat hit, not cause/prevent leaks/dry hits.
