went to the local B&M to get some kanthal and juice...brought my Microstick with me, cause it's always a good conversation starter.

someone had gotten me a bottle of some e juice (propaganda illuminati...which is awesome by the way) at 3 nic. I wanted to up the juice a little, normally do 6, but this juice is pretty smooth and I wanted a little more throat hit. so I asked for a bottle of 18. She asked me if I was using a "dropper". I said yes, but I was going to mix it with 3. her eyes got huge and she said, "you're gonna drop with 21 nic?!?!" I didn't even bother trying to explain...

as I was walking out, someone asked me about the MicroStick. I showed it to him, let him see my coil, etc. he then asked about the clouds...and he seemed to get very offended when I told him there was more to vaping then clouds and proceeded to tell mechs were "made for sub-ohming" and I had no business putting a 1.5 ohm coil on a mech, it just wouldn't work. I just left.

when I got home, I called the owner (old buddy from high school) and told him. he jus said, "i know, I don't let him do anything stupid at the shop. But he spends too much money on every new piece of gear. and the cashier is a family friend in a tight spot." we had a good laugh about it.

I found one in my old neighborhood just Sunday. Beautifully curated shop. Total meatheads running the thing. First and last time there.

Almost forgot - the place reeked of smoke and there was a coffee mug full of rancid cigarette butts on their vaping table.

I wanted to like the place so much. Excellent range of products for new and experienced vapers alike, all authentic but with a huge range of price options, and hands down the most impressive juice selection I've seen in a shop. For Pete's sake they even had Pinball!

Rude, brusque and quite honestly creepy people running the place. I left feeling like I had put them out. I regret buying anything but I was out of nic-bearing juice.

Mechanicals are "Made for sub-ohming". What are you talking about? You can run a 1.5 ohm coil on a mechanical without any problem. Sometimes I use a Iclear 16 on one of my mechanicals. A k100/101 comes with a cartomizer. A mechanical will put out 4.2 volts minus voltage drop and drop off as the battery loses charge. To say that you can't run anything but a sub-ohm coil on a mechanical is completely wrong.

One vape shop was like that here. He ran like 0.08 ohms which is stupid on a mech. He was like "you can try it" and curiosity got the best of me. NEVER again will I vape that low. I hated it haha. Anyways, they're all about sales, not about informing people.

A shop i go to often, I always hear him ask new customers about what battery or mod they'd be using a tank or atty one. He cares about safety. He's one of the best employees I've ever seen at a shop. I've seen him sit down with someone on the couch for an hour explaining ohms law and battery safety. Every question a beginner could ask, was asked that day to the employee by one person. The employee even let the new guy try out his own personal mods with a different drip tip. From sub ohm tanks, a nautilus mini, to regulated to devices and RDAs. Everything he had in the backpack of his he offered to let the guy try to see what he liked.

I would have. The other day I was chatting with a buddy, telling him the four "ingredients" in the liquid I was vapin'. I said 50 50 PG VG with 24 mg nic and some Key Lime flavor. Saying PG and VG instead of Propylene Glycol and Vegetable Glycerine was my mistake.. He thought they meant half pretty good and half very good! When I caught my breath I went into more detail. However I couldn't get him out of the 'antifreeze thing'..

Making friends with a good vape shop is really something every vaper should do. I left my mod on the kitchen counter one day on the way to work and called my buds to see if they had anything in stock that wasn't horrible and would just get me through the day. The owner said "yeah". I get there to find him holding an eGo One with a full tank of juice and a fully charged battery. I said I didn't really want to buy that particular setup. He just handed it to me and said to bring it back later. I was stunned. He gave me a $60 setup and smiled not knowing if he'd ever see me again. I now do all the business I can with this shop and don't even bother with others.

Unfortunately, this seems to be all too common. The shop that got me started fell apart like this. The guy is losing his tail right now.

The 2nd shop I found was good until locals took it over. Now going in there is hit and miss. I don't mind people who hang in vape shops as long as they're being decent.

I'm all over the state for work, so I visit a ton of shops. I've found exactly 3 that I would give regular and consistent business to, and I stop at each one every chance I get. I never leave without spending money, either. Even if it's a single bottle, I'm buying something just to help keep them open.

The first modders were really visionary people. They came up with their first MOD's specifically to adress sub-ohm vaping that they knew was going to appear some years later. Yay, modders...!

As for the obvious lack of maths skill...

I can imagine what would happen if that lady had the chance to "educate" a complete noob about mixing liquids.

"Here, I have a little tip: you can mix a single, premium expensive bottle of 18mg liquid with a gallon of NON-nicotine liquid. You'll still be at 18mg and pay much less for an entire gallon of e-liquid which will last for an entire year! How cool is that ??"

Sounds like one of the local B&M's by me haha. The staff are completely oblivious to the fact that vaping is a means to quit smoking, all of the other stuff like sub ohm'ing, clouds, and tricks come afterwards to people who want to get into it. The worst IMO, is selling beginners sub ohm kits as their first vapes. Most don't know how to work a VV/VW mod and the vapor production is too much. My main B&M sells the disposable tank ego - style kits to people buying their first set up and have no clue if they'll even like vaping.
Illuminati is a great flavor, my main B&M used to carry the Propoganda line but they don't have it anymore...and yes of course when you combine 18 & 3 you get 21mg. It's simple maths! (Complete sarcasm)

Stopped by my local vape shop for the first time in months last weekend. Noticed the owner was vaping an IPV4 with a Herakles tank. The conversation that followed went like this.

Me: Hey, how do you like that IPV4?
Him: It's awesome. Best mod I've ever had. Battery lasts forever, great hitting, I just love these things.
    Me: How much are they?
Him: Oh, we don't sell them. I bought this for myself.
Me: :?: OK then, how do you like the Herakles?
Him: LOVE it. Awesome flavor. Blows huge clouds. Coils last a long time. I've been using this same coil for 3 weeks and it's still hitting like it was brand new.
    Me: How much for those?
Him: I paid $30 for it online. Not a bad deal.
Me: So you don't sell those either?
    Him: No.
Me: So what you're telling me is you don't stock or sell anything that you would use yourself, and all of the good gear that you do like you don't actually stock?
    Him: :grr: :censored:

Needless to say, I didn't buy anything.
