Hang tough Leaford! These people are acting in fear, (of losing tobacco related money and/or some kind of political backing) because they know the e-cig is catching on, and it will continue to do so. There is nothing they can do about that! The truth will come out. Maybe the more they make a stink about it, the quicker the e-cig will have to be "proven" safe.

Then they can .... and let us vape all we want.

The sad part about it is they disguise their greed by pretending to be concerned about our "safety" Pffft.

In California, doesn't anything that contains any form of any material known to possibly be a carcinogen had to have that crazy warning? I think I saw it on the outside of a convenience store, because something in one of their shelves contained something. Hopefully someone from CA can chime in. I could certainly see them requiring an extra warning for the e-cigs sold in CA.

I'm a Cali native and believe me this once great State is full of idiots in the Capitol! At least the Governater vetoed the bill making the sale of ecigs illegal. But he did that to piss people off that weren't supporting his agenda. Now he's a lame duck and they are all scrambling for power trying to show us tax payers how much they 'care' for us, BS I say!
They make these laws and spend way to much of our taxes when they should focus on education, the infrastructure and creating jobs.
California is a big State and for decades it's had a power struggle between Democrats and Republicans, they get elected by the people then go to Sacramento and get nothing done but fight amongst themselves. No wonder people are moving out to other States.
Now Meg Whitman is throwing her hat in the ring, she's the former CEO of Ebay, going to watch her and see if she might be a decent Governor, we'll see...

PS- and Jerry Brown the Attorney General would only be happy if everyone ate nothing but granola bars, give up cars, and live in communes. He's so liberal he makes Obama look like Limbaugh ;)

We get good news in one lawsuit, and another one rears it's head!!!

Calif AG Sues E-Cigarette Maker, Says Cigs Unsafe - ABC News

Eventually this industry is going to be regulated or put out of business. My question is why isnt V4L and other e-cig vendors joing the fight with smoking everywhere to get this defeated. I have a few other questions and statements as well.

1. Why are the products we use not being tested by an independant lab? My ex-wifes family created, developed and then marketed the products GOGO Juice, Truckers love it, and Cmere Deer. Every batch of product they receive from the lab they send a sample to an independant lab for testing and to keep the lab that produces their product honest. When i first learned about this i thought it was extremely expensive but after talking to my uncle in-law soon found out that it is very inexpensive to do. Also, because his products were being consumed by people he had to make sure that each and every batch was safe. It was only due diligence on his part. As far as i can tell all the e-cig vendors and juice sellers fall back on studies by the australians to back up there safety claims. Why are they not doing this themselves?

2. As far as i can tell only the Australians have done research on vaping and the FDA in a very narrow study.

3. I am under no illusions that vaping may eventually be found to be harmful to myself. But, as a 20 year smoker i truly believe that it is "safer" and "healthier" than tobacco.

This isnt so much a statement about V4L but they are quickly becoming an industry leader and i think as such they could distance themselves from the competition even farther by doing the research themselves. Its not cost prohibitive. Leaford is in China at no small expense improving product development and quality control. Just as much capital should also be put into safety and testing.

Just my 2 cents worth.

another ......... trying to get his name out or trying to entice the tobacco companies to throw money at him.

I am such a firm believer in the responsibility of the citizen's role in government. I understand where everyone is coming from, but instead of worrying about corruption and ulterior motives, actually pick up the phone and call your congress person! Even if you don't live in Cali, tell them you want them to support e-cigarettes and that as along as research is pending the American people should be free to smoke them.

Congress men/women are more worried about being voted back in then they are about the money they'll receive from 1 issue, and this type of persuasion actually does work, its just a matter of getting enough people to do it. But, most of us are too busy ? Maybe next time you're about to make a post on this forum, look up the number to your congressional representatives and call them. Then come back and post!

Ok, enough ranting from me, I just like to see real democracy work, especially to defeat corruption. It's possible, you just have to want it.

Practice what I preach:

Contact your Congressman
The link above lets you put in your zip code and brings you to your representative's contact info. I just called my congressman and talked to (presumably) a secretary, she took my message and she asked for my address. I know that means I will get mail I don't want during election season, but I gave it so they could verify that I am indeed a constituent of his.

As for what I said on the phone:
"I wanted to make my opinion known that I would like the congressman to support the legality of electronic cigarettes should any legislation come up."

Sounds lofty possibly, but it was short and to the point and thats basically all anyone needs to say/do. It took 30 seconds and if enough people were to do that, they will listen.

Anyways, I hope this will help calm your angers and make your feel proud of your country and yourself for participating in Government.

Do you mean New Zealand? I've seen the New Zealand study, but not the Aussie one. Do you have a link to the Aussie one? Thanks

As a life time Cali resident, with parents also life time Cali residents, I can remember my parents saying "If it's Brown, flush it" And they said it about his father before him!

Do you know how much money the State of California stands to lose if people quit smoking? They have lost 75 cents A DAY on me alone!!! Hate to say it, but money motivates, and not in a good way! ;)

Yup that would be prop 65 and SE from what I saw was not doing that. I actually need to PM Geoff at tastyvapor he probably knows but yes a disclaimer on all know car and suspected car is required and I think SE might be in real trouble here.

There is no scientific evidence that Nicotine causes any kind of cancer. I suppose if you lit your vaporizer on fire and inhaled the smoke it might be harmful.

If it is on the list of known or suspected car which while im not totally sure I think nic is then prop 65 applies and a disclaimer must be posted.
