I seem to have hot legs on most coils below 10 wraps that I make. So at 28ga, 10 wraps is getting me about 1.2-1.3 ohms. I really like it actually - but am wondering if some of my juices may not taste as flavorful without a lower ohm. Seems like some taste as good if not better than around 1 ohm.

Considering getting some 26ga kanthal, which if I'm not mistaken, 10 wraps would be closer to .7 ohms. What are the pros/cons of using 26ga vs 28ga?

Do most of you find better flavor at lower ohms or are you just wanting a warmer vape?

Just trying to find my sweet spot. For now I'll stick around 1.2 or 1.3. I'd love it if I ultimately prefer that range as it's better battery life.

The "sweet spot" not only varies by individual user, it also varies by what juice, what mg, what wicking material, etc. So, we each have to find that for our juice and personal preference.

That said, if you find you're happy having gone up to 1.2 or 1.3, then by all means try 1.5 or 1.6 on your next build.

All I can really tell you is that for ME, unflavored 24mg 100% VG is EPIC at 1.7-1.8 ohms (30 ga kanthal A1, spaced coil) with silica wick in an RM2...on a grand...using a SONY VTC5...on Tuesday...if I hold my REO in my right hand...if the TV set is turned down :)

Would you say that one more time for clarity purposes, lol!!

You can also change what you're wrapping them around, the ID (inner diameter).... ;)

I've been sticking with 1.4mm (~1/16") builds with 8 wraps of 28ga for dual coils- 0.5ohms, and ... when I was doing single coils, I seemed to like 2mm(~5/64") ID, 8 wraps, 28ga- 1.3ohms....

It seems whatevers easiest and works good is whats best.... I like the 1.4mm(1/16") ID because its easier to place the coil....and wick....and 8 wraps is easier than 10 for me :)...

I used to vape higher ohms, but since I got my plume veil my go-to build has been a dual 24g 5/6 wraps on 3/32", for a 0.25Ω vape. I normally wouldn't vape this low, but in the plume veil it's just awesome. Using KGD cotton wicks. Dual VTC5's in parallel. Flavour and Vapour madness!!!

As you're seeing, sloth, and you're likely going to hear more of is that the sweet spot is just so highly subjective.

What I can say is that I subohm with duals (netting .5 ohms) to get easy access to what I consider a "full" vape - a goodly amount of vapor, not hot, and great flavour. Getting there also requires dialling in coil placement, wicking setup, and (of course) choice of atties. Really, the only constant is the reo itself.

I'd really encourage you to experiment (mind your safety protocols, naturally). You've got the skills and definitely the interest. If we know you, you'll be back in here in 2 days with 5 build setups to rave about (maybe teach us all sump'n in the process).

About hot legs.... I don't seem to have a problem with them, no matter how many wraps... I picked up the technique of just running the screwdriver/drillbit/ect... through the coil after pulsing it, from super-X's videos... it alleviates any hot legs and fixes dual coils evenness instantly... and is way easier and works better then squeezing/pinching the coil with pliers/tweezers....

That doesn't seem to work for me with less than 10 wraps...I'm waiting on some Temco kanthal instead of ebay kanthal. maybe bad quality wire...

Papa - haha, I plan on a dual coil atty at some point soon, maybe an Odin--it will be intriguing :vapor:

Nah....that's why we have 2 hands. Oh wait....I forgot about the beer. Never mind...yeah Kickstarter.

Actually, I use the free hand to shake my fist and point accusingly when I watch football. The beer I take in through one of these....

I use a pair of ceramic tipped tweezers, and gently squeeze the coils together while pulsing. The tweezers are non conductive.
