Yep bad flavor and only on semi-lengthy drags - quick vapes taste great on every coil I make. but once it heats up to that glowing leg = bad flavor

Know what you mean. I dealt with hot legs when dealing the AGA-T2, RSST, and SS Mesh.

As FB mentioned, it should fire up from the center of the Microcoil. Legs going to the Posts should not get red at all. After you wrap the coils around the drill bit, and then slide it off the bit ... are you squeezing the coils together as you blow torch it??

i'm not doing any of that anymore, i'm using the coil gizmo :) but when i used a drill bit yes that's exactly what I was doing...also tried several times without squeezing and blowtorching.

Yep, happening on both RM2s. Those other 2 issues were solved...by getting a new screwdriver (yep, solely the problem - using the horrid KFL+ screwdriver on the RM2 = bad idea) and putting a piece of wire under the loose post and screwing down the post ontop of that.

I'm thinking it's either bad wire, or I'm not getting proper tension on the coil legs through the post...either is conceivable, but the coils themselves are spot on. I do find it easier to avoid this by using more wraps...maybe because the end wraps aren't getting pulled outward as much to go into the posts.

Its obvious that they aren't spot on as you have a hot leg problem.... IMO a micro coil is less likely to have a hot spot or leg as opposed to an ugly coil... After a micro coil is wrapped and mounted, pulse fire then run whatever mandrel you used to mount the coil back through the coil a few times will eliminate any hot spots you might have... This can be found in Russ's video's.... It's not a myth, its fact....

When I say it's spot on I mean prior to mounting - the coil gizmo produces some hellacious looking coils. perfectly tight and even. and I have been doing the mandrel trick - which has WORKED on my 10wrap + coils, very well. but not on less than 10 wraps

Can you take some pictures of what's happening, or do a video?

Just throwing out some thoughts here.... What are you using for a mandrel? Are you using the mandrel for mounting the coil? Are you pulling on the mandrel inside the coil after you tightened your post screws down? Sometimes if you move the coil without the mandrel inside it still, the coil ends can go all catiwhompus...

I'm using the second smallest rod with the gizmo (~1/16) and yes to all questions. I pull it out with the mandrel after tightening - then retighten and do the pulsing, then put the mandrel back in and comb it etc

This is a quick example shot. when I build a coil and the legs do not line up perfectly with the post holes, I bend the legs on the mandrel to line up with the post holes before mounting and doing the fire and squeeze. This keeps the act of mounting from pulling on the coil and making it wonky, it also allows me to exactly position the coil relative to the air hole.

hmm ok, I'll try that tonight :)

by the way - if that were to save the day - and I wanted to venture down to say .8 ohms to give that a shot - is a 1/16th air hole big enough for that? and 6 wraps of 28g? or is that so few wraps it won't vape well
