So I am a new vaper (2 weeks and 1 day as of now) and happened to sit in front of my laptop this morning and it was off. It has a glossy LCD screen and the sunlight was hitting it and I realized that the entire thing was covered in an oily film. Couldn't figure it out initially because this had never happened before. Then it dawned on me it is from me vaping! It has to be...

So, I started looking on the 'net and forums and found some older threads about people discussing the same thing. So my question is, is this concerning to anyone at all? I mean, don't get me wrong...I know this film is WAY better than the sticky tar in analogs (along with the other chemicals) but I would imagine any type of oil or film into the lungs might not be the best thing. I guess one thing that struck me as well is that it is not like I am in front of my computer a terribly long amount of time and even in those times I am not vaping the whole time so it seemed to have built up pretty quickly.

Any thoughts?

Mike

PG/VG is metabolized in the body, so I wouldn't worry too much about that.

I believe the film damages your computer screen more than it damages your lungs. Disclaimer: I am a computer professional. Not a doctor. ;)

I also believe that the PG/VG film can make old filth on the screen, that you haven't noticed before, more visible. Give it a good cleaning and see if the film builds up again at the same speed, or if it's slower next time.

I vape at work all the time. I've never noticed any sort of residue on my screen or anywhere else.

Can I ask what juice you're using? Could be an additive in the flavoring used.

Me too...I've been vaping in front of TWO monitors at my job for months and no film at all. I never clean them either.

Build up, absolutely. I was posting on thread linked above and followed the advice re using a mixture of water and vinegar to wipe it off and it works like a charm.

My thoughts are that temp had something to do with it but very possibly also that there was a build up of grime from smoking before I switched to vaping and the vapor interacted with what was already there. That's what I'm hoping anyway...lol.

I experienced my first windshield and side window fogging when it began to get cold here. The windows would not defrost in our Terrain, so bad I went to the dealer to see if my heater core went south and they found nothing wrong with the vehicle. I found this thread in here or here and made it all clear that it was us vapin in the car and there is vape residue. Clean the windows and fog was gone and now couple times a month I have to wipe down all the windows.

I vape at my computer every day for hours at a time. I blow the vapor directly at the monitor because it looks neat at night time :p

Haven't noticed any film or build up, just the usual dust.

Ha, I do the same and neither of my monitors have any noticeable film...my windshield in the winter is a different story though.
