OK, I confess!! I confess that I pre-ordered a Protege within hours of them going up for sale.
Why did I wait to come out in the open with this fact instead of proudly announcing it like everyone else?
Because I don't pre-order things!!! Never have, never thought I would.
I'm the type of person who reads, studies, researches and ponders before I make a purchase.
I read virtually every review on the internet about every product I buy. My family says I'm
obsessive-compulsive and that I take the fun out of buying anything. I want to know everything
that can go wrong with a product before I plunk down my hard-earned cash.
And then of course, after every purchase, I immediately get buyer's remorse. Should I
have waited for this, should I have bargained for that, what is coming out next week? Will I get
my money's worth, will it hold up over the long term?
So what made me buy the Protege on impulse before the first hands-on review has been done?
I console myself with the following reasons:
1. Made in the USA (TN no less, ya gotta love it)
2. Everyday customer service witnessed first-hand on this forum (good job Steve & Casey)
3. Rugged stainless steel construction
4. No fancy electronics to fail
5. 6 month warranty
6. Versatility with different adapters
7. Reasonable price
8. Compact size but should have decent battery life
9. Locally serviceable
10. Readily available, fairly inexpensive batteries
11. It is just so dang cute
Actually, looking over my list, maybe this wasn't such an impulsive purchase.
Maybe I should be patting myself on the back rather than hiding in the shadows.
I wondered why the buyer's remorse never reared it's ugly head after clicking the submit button.
Anybody else have a confession to make? Come on, it'll make you feel better. ;-)
