It always cracks me up when these threads eventually turn to shooting or crippling someone because they "dis" you about your vaping. Some real bad dudes in here.
"Dude harshed on me about my vape....so I crushed his Adams Apple...." Then we all agree that THEY'RE the jerks. Ooooookay.
It depends on who they are and how they approach me. If I know them and they are not acting like a jerk, I have a discussion with them. If they are arrogant and pretentious, I respond back in kind.

I like to keep things in perspective. Give me lip about vaping, I'll either try to educate them or I'll just randomly name vegetables. It depends on them and their approach. Either way, both parties will remain unharmed.
Call my dog ugly? Thats different..... But my dog can probably handle it.

I get the "you don't know what's in there" regularly from smokers and non-smokers a like...

My standard response is "Actually I know exactly what's in these since I mix my own juice."

So I recite the recipe for whatever I'm vaping at the time like... In a 30 ml bottle I use 5 ml of 24 mg nicotine in a VG solution with 1.3 ml of PG, 60 drops of coffee flavor, 3 drops of Kona coffee flavor, 12 drops of Ethyl Malto and then top it off with VG. Shake the heck out of it and steep for 2 days. The results are 4 mg nicotine in smooth coffee flavor.

Then I counter to smokers... can you name even 10% of the several thousand chemicals in your cigarette? Most can't name more than 3-4...

To me, the key to any of these type of conversations is education... while it can be irritating to deal with the misinformation that's constantly spread about e-cigarettes, for every encounter that I spend 5 minutes spreading some truth and common sense on tobacco harm reduction... the results are 1 less person with misinformation to oppose this stuff.

Well i was at the supermarket the other day and was walking out to my Jeep minding my own and puffing away and a smoker came up to me so i was like hmm well i guess hes gonna ask some questions about my gear or what not. Well was i way wrong, he was like yo dude you vapers are so dumb you have no idea what your putting in your body. I was like hmm ok and the 7000 all rolled up in your analogs are ok? I mean im not about to dis a smoker how can i? I used to be one lol. So it went on and on he was saying how dumb i was then i took a drag because heck i needed something to calm me down. To be polite i exhaled upward to the side and he said keep your nasty lung juice away from me um i was done at that point. The nerve of some people i swear. Anyone ever had any similar experances?

Calling foul. If a stranger walked up to me and started aggressively calling me names I'd either walk away, call the cops, or prepare for a fight. Last thing I'd do is try to reason with them. All the rationale in the world cannot prevail against sheer insanity.

Maybe I'm just naive, but I simply cannot fathom this, as it's been described, happening in a supermarket parking lot.

Quality of content is nosediving the last few days. Spamming for the 15 mil?

Something to keep in mind when telling these people what's in your juice... the % of flavors is misleading, since the flavors are mostly PG (a few are VG). I wish I knew exactly how much, but I'd guess that when I make a 20% flavor mix, it's really only about 2% flavor, maybe less.

Quite true and a good point... flavors are likely mostly PG and for myself 4 mg nicotine is .4% actual nicotine or more simply 99.6% VG. So when you boil it all down... 2-3% is something other than VG/PG.

My dad used to say never argue with an idiot. They will bring you down to their level and beat you with experience. And yes it can happen in the supermarket parking lot. I have had it happen all over the place. Certain types of people in general always feel the need to inject their thoughts/beliefs upon others and they don't care where they are when they do it.

I never had anyone say anything negative to me either. But I had one incident I thought was kinda funny. I had to go to an office and speak with a guy at his desk. During this I noticed the small generic ego battery topped with a clearomizer. I said, "Oh! You vape also?" He looked at me like I grew another head. I could tell he had no clue what I was talking about. Again, small town. I pointed towards his set up and said, your vape gear. He replied, "Yeah, it helps some." I could tell he wasn't very happy with it, so I tried to explain that there were several better setups, if that wasn't working for him. Just for example I showed him my Reo. He glanced at it and said, "Yeah, I had one of those. I like this better." I just thought to myself, a second ago you didn't know the term "vape" but you did own a bottom fed box mod with an RDA? Not for this to sound like I'm belittling new vapors, we could have just as easily been discussing vacuum cleaners. I just think it's funny when you run into people who know to much to help! o_O

I was sitting at a red light, happily vaping away waiting for it to change. It was near a bad area of Fort Worth, so this might explain it, but an old guy crossing the intersection in front of me started pointing his finger at me and yelling something. He probably thought it was a (different kind of "pipe") and called the cops. *sigh*

I don't know what "harshed on me" means, but when someone follows you to your vehicle while being confrontational, then keeps you there against your will, they are asking for whatever happens to them. That has nothing to do with vaping, but personal space. I have defended my personal space on several occasions, and a jury always found me innocent. Why? Because the other person had me in a corner with no option but violence to stop it. You do have personal space, and you can use violence to protect it. It's not my fault that you choose to open your mouth and hit your knees any time you are confronted, I will stand up for my rights.

Also, it's an old car thief trick to follow someone to their car while distracting them with some kind of offensive banter. When you are worried about avoiding confrontation, they club you over the head and rob you.

So you are one of those people that thinks you don't have the right to defend your personal space? Or are you the type that doesn't respect the personal space of others, and don't like it when they know about their rights because it might endanger you? I have always stood up for my rights, no matter what it has cost me. But that is part of being American, a duty I take seriously.

I think you might have me a little wrong. I fought proudly for 14 years on 3 separate battlefields for the rights you enjoy. I cower to no one....including you. But one thing my experience has taught me is when to fight. If someone wants to whine about my vaping, I can deal with that like a man....not a scared little punk ready to swing every time someone aggravates me. The scenarios you speak of are a little different than the op described.

Every time I read threads like these it just confuses me, in my everyday life I never have people offer me unsolicited advice or impose on my personal space. And other than some tattoo's (which just about everyone has now days) I'm not an imposing figure by any stretch of the imagination. Definitely have not had my "personal space invaded" to the point I need to defend myself and get the cops involved. Shrugs? Maybe I forgot to shower?

So, after someone follows you to your vehicle, acts aggressive, makes threats and won't let you leave, you would be ok with that? I've got a lot of friends in the military and none would let a pos like that walk away. The guy kept him there for 5 min, not a quick smart alec comment as he walked by, but stood there talking trash for 5 min. That's someone that needs to be taken down a few pegs... Nothing about handling that situation makes you a "scared little punk". No, by doing nothing you are encouraging that pos to go pick on someone else. Maybe a woman that he feels like hitting next time. Or a kid. Or some handicapped person. Who knows? No, letting him get away with it is the most cowardly thing you could do. If you could have taught him a lesson and didn't, you are responsible for him continuing to do the same stuff to others.

I don't know where the not cowering to me thing came from, I didn't threaten you? I don't even know you. But, I've never cowered before anyone myself. I just do my duty as an American to protect other Americans that might not be able to defend themselves.

Here is another way to look at it, would your actions be the same if it was your wife/daughter/mother being accosted by this guy? Because when he walks away from you without a scratch, that will just encourage him to try again on someone else. Eventually, encouraged by success, he will keep stepping it up until he hurts or kills someone. And it would be your fault for not stopping him when you had the chance.

Being followed to your car and given a lecture by a smoker is crazy. Sorry that happened to you, OP! I would have just gotten in my car and ignored it. No rationalizing with a crazy person.

But it definitely doesn't sound like violence was required, and I don't think personal space is something worth defending with violence.
