OK this time I'm really done. E-Cigs have worn me down.

It sounds like the ultimate issue was irritation with the juice. Whatever the Virgin setup was, OP didn't complain about the battery... but twice s/he complained about irritated tongue.

Anybody recommend juices that are less irritating than what is used in what OP has tried?

OP, can you link to the Virgin setup? People here will be able to tell if you can use different juices with that device. This could save you money. No point in buying an expensive device if it's a juice problem.

. Unfortunately, I then had my tongue all ripped up from the Propylene Glycol.

Also, I ordered the vanilla and I don't know what to say but that was some nasty vanilla. I'm sitting here now with what feels like a chemical burn on my tongue. That stuff is really nasty. I mean, come on...

So, all my thanks to all of you who have tried to help me on this journey, but I think I'm just not meant to go this route.

Truly disappointing!

Tovah

This may or may not be the issue, but my husband started vaping when I did. I love it and all the flavors. He on the other hand did it long enough to put down the analogs and quit it altogether. His problem with vaping was that it made his throat sore even after getting used to it and the initial throat irritation should have gone away.

We went out one night where there were smokers around us and I came close to bumming a cig from someone just because he was having such a hard time with the cravings that night. Of course I didn't because I know it only takes that one cig to start back up.

After that we went to a local shop here and experimented a bit with the juice. Come to find out he reacts to the flavorings in them. They set us up with some non flavored juice with a 12 nicotine level and he's been great ever since.

Then there are strong non tobacco flavors like cinnamon and mint, these really help changing it up and are both in my routine.
I've wasted a lot of money on juice that I can't stand but some of them I'll turn around months later and try one again and like it, or at least use it as a mixer, which is where a lot of them wind up. I enjoy some sweeter juices now but at first they didn't help at all.

I'm with you. Most of the juices I have are mixers. I'm always tweaking the juices. I recommend having a graduated cylinder.
Grad-Cyl.jpg

As soon as I get tired of a flavor I empty the clearomizer into the graduated cylinder and start messing with it. Being able to carefully measure the different juices helps. Some of my favorite vapes are mixes.

Here's one for $3.75:

Bel-Art Scienceware 284520000 Polypropylene Single Scale Graduated Cylinder, 0.5" ID x 0.6" OD x 5.7" Height, 10mL Capacity, 0.1mL Graduation Interval: Amazon.com: Industrial & Scientific

I’m not going to tell you what to use, everybody else already has and they know far more about it than me. I had a terrible time switching from cigarettes to vaping. Took me months. Sore tongue, sore throat, vaper made me hack, all of it. I also wasn’t using a high enough nic juice. And I failed with a cig alike several years before. I smoked for over 40 years so I wasn’t really expecting an overnight thing but sheesh. But I eventually did quit. Hang in there and as you have found there is support here in abundance. :)

That's a good way to think. Give it another try. Just make sure to do the research, on a good set up. A lot of people say its the juice that makes what you think. I personally think that its the juice and the system. Juice is no good unless you have a good system to inhale it with.

Wow!
You guys are the best. I can't tell you how much I appreciate all your help and encouragement and really sending out some great information.

OK. I'm giving it ONE MORE TRY! I got alot of info here and will try to whittle it down to what I believe would work for me.

All my best to all of you,
Tovah

Tovah if your going to do the EVOD setup do not use juices over 60%. VG otherwise the EVOD will choke due to too thick of a juice resulting in poor wicking and dry hits. Just FYI.

When you ordered Virgin vapors did you order 100%vg? That's a really thick juice for any tank that's not a RBA or RDA.

i was in your shoes at one point in time too. i got a blu disposable e cig, it ran about 13 dollars. lasted half a day when it advertised 800 puffs. the battery died probably before 200. i was irate. gave up on the whole idea of e cigs with just that one incident, i guess i had higher expectations for it, and i thought it was the best there ever was out there for e cigs because of the flashy advertisements, and those were the only e cigs i saw at the time. however, after trying it i concluded they were the biggest waste of money, much like the patches or the gum.

than several months later i went to a local SMOKE shop, not a vape shop, and got a terrible ego style vape starter kit (i believe it was by a company called "mr. nice guy" which after some research i found out that they were one of the companies that created that synthetic ......... stuff called "spice". good idea to get a vape there...right? haha. nope!). the clearomizer leaked overnight, and i vaped it in the morning unknowing, and the liquid was all in my battery. completely fryed it. i was left 35 bucks less in my wallet, with a leaking ce4 style clearomizer and a fried knock off ego c style battery.

thought it was just the knock off so i persued one more time. tried another smoke shop. got a "tsunami g class starter kit" for about 40 bucks. same kinda deal. this one worked a little better and a little longer. however after about a month it was useless and the battery stopped working. not to mention that the liquids i got there were terrible.

at this point i was convinced to my core i was done vaping and i was disgusted and ...... off........ then i found a vape shop.

picked up an ego c twist, an iclear 30 with replacement heads and a bottle of hand made specialty liquid. they even have a bar where i can test the flavors before i buy it. PHENOMENAL. i love it. still working to this day. i still run on the ego c twist 1000 mah battery, gets me through the day at about 4 volts. even picked up a Kanger t3, and an iclear 16. now i cant stop vaping! i just wish i knew better quality gear before i wasted almost 90 bucks on useless garbage!

whenever im not vaping im on here reading about vaping, or helping people with vaping. vaping isnt just a way to get me off smoking anymore. its turned into a passionate hobby (is that wierd?). you just got to get the good stuff going and i promise man. you wont be disappointed.

also try different kinds of vapes. clearomizers (i dont recommend the ce4 style, or stardust style), go for the iclear 30, the iclear 16, the kanger protank, vivi nova, or a kanger t3S (its different from the kanger t3 cause you can change the coils for dirt cheap). also you might want to look into atomizers if those arent your style.

i get all my stuff from my local shop. http://jojo-vapes.myshopify.com/

for juices i get the blueberry frost, spearmint ice, spider bite (delicious), or i have them mix the strawberry patch and the lemonade to make strawberry lemonade (my personal fave).

your solution is out there man! i promise! just keep looking!

Tovah,
By "Phoenix", I'm assuming you're in Arizona? If that's the case, I figure you're in a outlying area or maybe far from it? I'm 30+ miles north of Prescott and I had to start my journey with vaping pretty much on my own. No vape shop around then  and the one that opened in Prescott recently I haven't gone to because I've got the set up I like and a general idea of the juices I like.
I started with a cig-a-like, it was one of those "membership" things and I was lucky to stop that craziness before it got started and got my money back. Panda had a cig-a-like that turned out to be great, considering I just googled e-cig. Then I found ECF and the adventure REALLY started!
As others have recommended, try juices from Mt. Baker Vapor. Best E Cigarette | Buy Electronic Cigarettes | E Cig Juice - MT Baker Vapor
I got into the Peanut Butter Cup and Butterscotch, but that was because I wanted to make the break from the whole tobacco smell. Did an 8 month run on those juices before I got bored and decided to check out other juices and then I went to "samples".

1. Drink a lot of water. This will help with the general irritations in your mouth and throat, and combat the loss of naturally occurring liquid in your mouth which happens when you vape.
2. Your sense of taste is going to dramatically change in the 1st to 6 weeks you quit analogs. Just so you know!
3. Get a bottle of higher nic juice in a flavor you find you like, and get maybe a lower nic level (what you were accustom to while using analogs) for the rest. The high nic is for when you feel the urge for analogs and your lower nic just ain't cutting it.
4. Be prepared for Vapor's Tongue. Have another totally different type of juice to switch over to. Some peeps go menthol just to get the taste buds working again.
5. Vaping is different than smoking. Vaping is similar to smoking a cigar.

In general, you have come to the right place! I smoked Camel Humps and later RYO for over 33 years. I didn't think I'd ever be able to quit. But I have 9 months without analogs and don't ever want to go back. If you need support, have questions, etc, etc, this is THE place to be.

I really hope you find what works for you, it's really cool to get that tobacco monkey off your back!

There are super cheap kits out there that work and last. I bought one of these over a month ago. It still works.

Reusable / Rechargeable / Disposable E-Cigarette Kit

Disposable 510 E-Cigarette Kit

This one costs $7.95. It's perfect for a back-up. It seems that many newbies put all of their eggs in one basket. I suggest diversification. Get several different kits. Don't spend all of your money in one place.

This one looks good, too:

I've been using 100% VG in an EVOD with no issues.
My preference is more vapor / less to no throat hit.

Yeh having a sore tongue is the pits. I'm in similar place, got geographic tongue 1week in. Really want to stick it out. Been searching Web for solution. So using unflavoured VG 20mg juice, that helps. tried biotene mouthwash, better but not much. Trialing some olive oil now & then. Gonna try hydrogen peroxide as heard that can help.

I know what you mean about the vanilla! I've been buying liquid from ECBlendflavors for about a year now. Their flavors are really good and the juice prices are phenomenal. You can buy small (testers) bottles cheap, to see what flavors you would really like. I seem to be hooked on ORANGE. Watermelon is also one of my favorites. If you want a really good battery that isn't too big, to carry when your out and about, I have an Ego K series battery (it is etched-pretty cool). It'll go a long way. I started buying Kanger heads (MT3S) recently. I also use the Kanger heads with the L-Rider Robust (just be sure and carry extra batteries with that). Anyway, you can't go wrong with that battery if your on the run (always get at least a 2nd one for backup-just in case). I put it in my pocket while at work. Once you get the right set up, (believe me) you won't even look at a cigarette!
Hope this helps. The previous posts are also very helpful. LOTS of Luck!:)
