Greetings folks,

Been smokin' for over 40 years or so -- started with Lucky Strikes and have progressed since then from many of the filterless cigarettes down to the local filtered cheapos (with the latest tax hike here in NC they run about $26/carton). I still have a tendency to pull the filter off from time to time and typically smoke about two or more packs a day (sometimes even three). Oh... also been known to dip a bit, smoke a pipe from time to time, and do like an occasional stogie -- yup, I seem to like tobacco. Needless to say, I've quit many many times... never stuck though.

Okay, on to the questions since I have spent hours on reading the forum and have not found too many folks that have the "habit" quite to my extreme...

1. There are tons of "kits" out there from a variety of vendors. Does anybody know of vendors in North Carolina?

2. Based on my "habit" as I described above, what do you folks recommend for an e-smoke?

Thanks in advance!

I ordered mine from CIGNOT Cignot your Midwest Electronic Cigarette store. and it came in just a few days - the price is excellent (their no-box kit is good value) It's a 3 piece kit.
You can buy really from any of the suppliers listed on the front page of the forum - its says next to their thread title where in the US (or outside the US) they are. I don't think it matters if they are really close by or not - most of the 'popular' vendors in the US at least seem to ship pretty fast all over the country.
The other popular model - which is a 2 piece kit - is a KR8 and cignot don't do those but V4L do and many others (see the reviews pages also)
As for what kind of e-smoke - you will be vaping juice, which will have a nicotine content level - the highest easily available is 36mg and that is quite high (there are higher but not so easily available everywhere, some places do higher though). I smoked light cigarettes, about 1-2 pack a day, and I get by fine with anything between 12mg - 24mg (kinda depends on the juice flavor). You can buy most any flavor, even things like fruits/drinks/tobacco as well as unflavored nic juice. You have a LOT of reading in your future! (lots of info on this forum) :)
Hope that was some help.

Also as for a kit and with your description on your smoking habit, my opinion only would be to go with a 5v-6v modle like the Siver Bullet or a GGT, You can have the best of all worlds and vape from 3.7v to 7.4v and this way find your sweet spot instead of just starting out with a small 3.7v modle kit which you might not like to much and then say this isnt for me, just my 2 cents because everyone is different and taste seems to be so subjective, I think you will be quite happy going this route and save a ton of money doing so..

If you want tobacco flavor and strong nicotine, here's a good place to get it:
Tasty Vapor

The aroma is more like pipe tobacco than cigarette tobacco. It's available in 48mg strength, the highest you're going to find in a flavored juice.

You can also get 48mg juice from My Freedom Smokes:

Chris Yelton is the owner and they are located in Charlotte, NC.

Whoa, Recommending 48mg and mods to a newbie???? I really don't think those are good ideas. Helper, I would look at d510's and kr808d-1. Both are qualtity ecigs but very different. The 510 is a 3 piece ecig that appears to provide lots of output but seems to require quite a bit of maintenance and has short lived cartridges. The kr808d-1 is a 2 piece ecig that is easily to maintain and cartomizers (the cartridge/atomizer) last longer. Easier to use away from home. Alot of good vendors here carry both. 24mg max to start out!

I think people were just reacting to 2-3 packs of non filtered smokes and wanted to get him started on a replacement. I can see recommending a higher voltage ecig, but definitely if you get the 48mg stuff start by mixing it with equal parts pg (24mg) until you know how much you are going to smoke and how it will affect you. You can always go up from there but starting out with 48 is just scary... lots of starters overdo it, just go slow.

24mg ain't gonna get it. Don't get the nicotine, won't continue using the ecig.

Don't expect a newbie who is trying to save money on smokes to spend $100+ on a high-voltage mod setup. Most people will buy a 901 or 510 and go from there.

Been smokin' for over 40 years or so...

He's not a newbie to nic. Cigarettes, pipes, cigars, chew, for over 40 years. Give him some credit for his experience - If he starts getting too much from 48mg juice, he'll know it.

I smoked 1 pack to 1.5 pack on the weekends. I'm using 6mg Nic juice and it is suiting my needs just fine. I would highly suggest going on a lower Nic juice. It worked for me and I kicked the habit just 2 days ofter getting my device. so far it's working, let's see if I can sustain.

Congrats on the 2 days!!

They (whoever "they" are) say if you can do it for 12 more days.. you're in the clear!

I smoke 36mg on my protege 3.7. I smoked the same 36mg juice in my prodigy V2 5V and it made me feel like poopoo. I just cant see smoking 46. Who needs that much nic?
Anyhoo from my e-cig travels, I would start with a battery mod from a good supplier and skip the cigarette looking things imo they SUCK and you will be getting a battery mod anyhow, so save some money.
here are a few: Prodigy/ Protege/silver bullet/ GG/ super six and more. and from the amount you smoked I would say 36mg juice would be great. I was a pack a day, and for me 36 at 3.7 protege is perfect. GOOD LUCK and dont give up ;o)

I'll put my 2 cents in. I've smoked 50 years and was currently smoking about 2 packs a day when I just started vaping at the very end of December. I had some 18 mg. and 24mg. Neither did it for me in the AM for sure. Since I was planning on trying DIY I had ordered some unflavored 60mg juice. I had to add some to my 24 mg flavored juice to up the strength to help satisfy my nicotine craving. I would recommend getting some 36 mg. and some 24mg. so you can have a higher strength for the AM and a lower strength for other times. If you are anything like me, my nicotine craving in the AM is super high. I am still smoking some analogs. But sticking with trying to make the switch. Not finding it as easy as some of the people here have. Maybe it's the number of years or whatever but I'm not going to give up.

Bye the way, I use a Joye 510. I'll defer to the experts on what is better to start with. I know that higher voltages give a better vape from all the reading I've done here. I didn't want to invest in all that money before I knew how I was going to like it.

I was a 2pk a dayer and I have tried the 48 mg to cut cravings, it works, and very well mind you.

I started vaping 9 days ago and haven't touched an analog since! Ordered a Joye 510 from Cignot (great price) with numerous sample flavors. I smoked 1.5-2 packs a day of Marlboro Red/Lights for 31yrs. I ordered the 26mg nic and it's plenty for me. Even have to be mindful of how often I vape...get a slight headache from too much nic intake.

Wow... talk about information overload! I just did some research on the current brand that I smoke ( LEGEND 100 F SP ULTRA -- Tar: 4, Nicotine: .3, and Carbon Monoxide: 6 ). As I mentioned before, I do smoke quite a bit as a programmer -- average about 14 to 18 hours a day in front of a box and I am quite tired of the cough, the smell, etc.

Right now I am leaning towards My Freedom Smokes 501 Starter kit for the hardware, but I am still quite perplexed about the juice/carts etc. I would really like my conversion to the e-cigarette to be a smooth and favorable one (especially if I am looking at shelling out a couple of hundred to start). There is just way too many opinions, bad stories, good stories, and so on; seems like every time I think I have the logic down another story pops the bubble.

I don't think that you should hesitate to use 36mg to start - that's what I did. I smoked 1-2 packs a day of Parliament Lights for 37 years so I vaped 36mg for the first two months. Only now am I vaping at 24mg or so. If it gets you off the analogs and keeps you off, it's ok.

MyFreedomSmokes is a great vendor. I don't use the 510 (I use a VK) but I do get juice from MFS and it is fabulous stuff.
