These darn vape shops are sometimes stupid or deliberately want to sell lots of low nic' juice and expensive coils.

6mg is not much at all until you up the watts to at least 20-30.

The evidence is many people quit with very basic hardware back in 2012/13/14 vaping 18mg or 24mg at less than 10 watts, even as low as 5w. I know a vaper who successfully used 36mg on a 2012 device that (according to the math) was barely making 5.7w with a fresh battery.

5.7 watts! (It seems almost unthinkable, although rip-off companies are still selling this outdated junk declaring it 'premium' vaping hardware).

My latest convert is vaping 16mg at 14 watts. It's barely controlling her cravings. I wanted to up it to 18mg (max in UK) but she won't go for it, because our local shop told her "everyone uses 6mg".... well, they might in a 75/150/220 watt rig, which is what they want to sell. I recommended 16mg as that is what she can buy without going to the mall.

She is using two tanks, one with a 0.6ohm coil, the other with a 1.2ohm.
I told her - forget the ohms - just vape.

I think it is because a lot of vape shops only carry 3 mg, 6 mg or 0 mg... at least the ones around here. Most of what they carry is subohm equipment too. They seem to think everyone want to blow massive clouds.
I was told that some states are making 6mg the maximum allowable strength. Tobacco companies trying to make ecigs useless I suspect

Hey guys. I haven't been here in a while. I picked the stinkies back up during a divorce and finally am trying to get back to vaping. Haven't smoked in a week. My problem is this...things have changed over the past 2 years and I'm struggling to get a good setup. I'm using an istick with a nautilus 2 tank with 0.7 ohm coils. 6mg juice(recommended by vape shop). I don't feel like it's enough, so I purchased the Smok Osub80. It has a baby beast? tank. It's just too much. Too much air flow for me. I can't get a good draw cuz of the airflow. It makes me cough. If I turn down the airflow, I don't get much vapor. Maybe sub ohm isn't for me. If I don't find something soon, I'm worried that I'll start smoking again :( Help please!
Hey man, I'm new to the site but im versed in the vaping science. Sounds like you need to get a higher nice level and either vape that at a lower wattage. You said the coil was a .7. At that range all you need is about 20 watts with Nic level 18mg or even higher. From there you drop Nic level along with raising the watts. Slowly over time. You will feel yourself not needing the high Nic.

Perhaps. But not if you read between the lines of @djsvapour's answer above yours (big power, more juice sales).

Or… you could go right to a comfortable vape temp (perhaps a bit cooler than an analog) of .85Ω or half with duals at 12mg and greater vapor output. Have done it successfully many, many times. IOW, get a higher density at lower nic. And all it takes is a few hours invested to dial it in. Provided you have the know how to build equivalent output efficiency (vaporization rate) at that res. It is that easy.

Lots of money, time and frustration saved. Spend the money on quality gear and juice instead once you do.

Tensioned Micro Coils. The next step.

Good luck. :)

A vape shop with nothing but sub-ohm equipment - and I don't care how carefully curated it is - is a hobby shop at best, and a cynical cash-in at worst. Catering to all styles and stages of vaping is one of the true marks of a quality vape shop, IMO.

The Nautilus 2 has 0.7 and 1.8 ohm coils, I think. I've been using the 0.7.

Try the 1.8 or 1.6 coils with 12-18 mg nicotine. My daughter and I use Nautilus or Nautilus Mini tanks, and these ratios work quite well. Watch your wattage - I use a CoolFire IV, and prefer to set my wattage at 8.5 for most eliquids. We also prefer to use 50/50 pg/vg ratio eliquids. For us, and the way we vape, this works best as far as coil life and flavor are concerned.

Coils are fine to use, and you may enjoy the familiarity of your old equipment. Just be aware it may not (depending on how old) be able to handle super high VG liquid, and you may want to up your nic to what you started with the first time, if you can, as it's likely lower powered than your new stuff....

Do coils expire or go bad? I was going through my old gear and found my evic vt. I bought the coils probably 2 1/2 years ago.

Congrats on the find! No, they don't go bad. And neither does e-liquid for the most part.

They are the same coils, but use the 1.8 Ohm coils with the NaughtyX.

^ I almost got my phone taken away for using it "in court" to post this. We were in the waiting area for potential jurors and apparently court rules apply there. I don't know about the 0.60 Ohm atomizers because I haven't used them but I haven't heard anyone saying that they are particularly good. I have used the 1.5 Ohm atomizers and they were disappointing. Usable just not the quality I expected with the 'Nautilus' name slapped on them. I really like the 1.8 Ohm coils though. Really nice MTL vape for me and you can play around with them on a surprisingly wide range of Wattage.

Listopencil, you just got the win for using your phone in court. I take it you are on the jury pool?

Anna

Just now got out of it half way through day two. I was about ten spots away on the list when they filled the jury and alternates. They called the list off this morning and we had to show we had reported. Anyone not reporting got an immediate bench warrant. I was using the court's wifi to post here, lol.

It wasn't even one of the bailiffs that caught me. Damn receptionist type lady came flying out from behind the security screen and busted me. Ah well. It's all good. She was kind of cute and I enjoyed watching her Anger Walk back behind the screen and into her office area. I was on the far side of a large room away from her door.

If you'd like the jury experience, my son has a DUI case coming up??? I'd really enjoy having some ringers on that one. He LONG finished up with the 2nd one, where he was really at fault. This one has been continued like, forever. It was really sort of egregious, he had red eyes from going rafting on the Salt River with friends. He was driving fine, but rather youthful, like 17? He was asked if he had anything to report and said he had "The Card." The first cop was gonna let him go as he was driving fine, then the supervisor hauled him out and he did field sobriety tests until he finally failed one.... Then got hauled off for processing, sigh. At the time, this was not a huge deal, but then he proceeded to get the other one, and FINISHED everything while this one was continued to infinity.

So much happened. The cop who decided to haul him out got kicked in the eye with a stiletto heel, but he still WORKS??? So we have the one eyed cop now, his poor lawyer has tried to cut a deal with 3 different prosecutors, and then his Judge (who was really nice) retired. She was replaced with an idiot career politician who ended her stint in the State House and decided she'd like A JUDGESHIP with her AA degree in Criminal Justice. Yeah, 90K a year for THAT? I'd love to make that kind of money with a gosh-darned AA degree. I guess I could have gone into custody SW but NO THANK YOU.

Anyway, I hated her on sight, but it's not her fault (I guess) that Tucson City limits decided that NON-lawyers could be JUDGES!!??? So my son's poor lawyer was trying to argue constitutional law with a blithering idiot, so now we will enter the Trial Stage, since one of her first acts as a Judge was likely NOT to be throwing out a DUI stop on Constitutional Grounds, it really doesn't matter how dumb she is, except that she is doing the sentencing.

I'm not optimistic, and the kid could do some jail time if things go horribly. :( Tucson's ah, lovely this time of year??? LOL.

If I listed all the things I hated about this, we'd be on book #2. But, I have in fact vaped in the bathrooms at Court, now that I think about it. :) No scary receptionist came after me, either. I made sure I was alone.... Very alone.....
