Oh man, thank the maker, so glad to see the old forum is still here! I half expected it to have folded under in the sands of time!

I am in crisis, fellow vapers.

I took up vaping three years ago when this forum was still young and the technology was, too. I spent several weeks educating myself, started out with the good old Joye 510 kit, and eventually got to feeling like a real info-stud on e-cigs. I upgraded to a Puresmoker Prodigy V3, which I ran stacked rcr123a (safe chemistry) through at 6v. (Evidently this is now seen as more unsafe than crack and Russian roulette combined, but I've never had a venting or an issue.)

This was such a reliable, satisfying setup for me that I basically fell off the radar here and never looked back. Nothing broke, I bought my liquid in bulk by the liter, accumulated RCR-123As and 510 mega cartos until I had a nice big box full, and everything was great.

Four days ago, the contact screw on my V3 broke in my pocket, and the mechanical switch on the .... of the tube fell out and was lost forever down a storm drain!!

Worst part: Puresmoker no longer sells parts for the V3, and evidently the technology has advanced in 3 years to the point where I CANNOT PHYSICALLY ASSIMILATE IT! My brain aches from trying.

I bought a gas station disposable ecig the second day to try and stave off the analogs while I frantically researched. It was such a nightmarish insult to my mouth and wallet (died in 4 hours) that I ended up back on the analogs anyway.

I am genuinely ashamed of myself, but I have no idea what to do now. Evidently my rcr-123a's are now useless and outdated, as are my 510 cartos.

I recognize my need to re-educate myself will take weeks, but I need to get some kind of replacement unit fast lest I fall back into the analogs permanently. There are no local e-cig stores and the gas station fare is an insult.

The unit must be capable of running at 6v and must be able to ship to my house with a quickness. I'm also slightly cash strapped and don't want to pay more than $100 for the whole kit.

Please have mercy on an old vaper and treat me like you'd treat Grandpa trying to buy a new car after his ever-reliable 1946 Model T finally died. I humble myself before you, the new generation.

I would suggest the ego.
I would suggest using the ticket system to ask what adapters would fit your existing (still working equipment)

There is a nice 1100 ego battery for 12.99
And a few tanks at 5.99 or 7.99 for glass tanks
An ego 450 charger at 3.99
Some e-juice And you are good to go

use coupon code lovetovape5 for 5 % off
shipping is about 3 or 4 dollars

Before you answer the questions, take a look at the VV boxes from SmokTek. They can be reliably pushed up to 6+ volts without shutting down: SmokTek "SmokBox VariCool" - Custom Variable Volt Box Mod - Efficient switching regulator! adjustable 3,4,5,6.5 volt's & everything between. Total setup with batteries and a charger if you need will come in around 80 bucks. There is a coupon code for SmokTek too. See Coupon button at top of any ECF page.

They ship fast, but can do extra $$$ overnight options if you want to go there.

Just how "northeast" are you? At all close to Boston?

Yeah if you don't want variable voltage, then do this. Not going to get 6 volts per say, but 1100mah for 12$ is pretty nice. In my opinion you don't need 6 volts for a clearomizer tank system. Most of them will run at 2-2.5 ohms.

Hello: did anyone even read the post? He is wanting something that will run around 6v's. He was stacking two batteries in a mod. I don't think an ego twist is what he was looking for!

You prolly should check out the Vamo. Not many APV's are running on the rcr123's these days. You may still be able to use the charger though, depending if it will charge the li-on cells. I don't know if guys had the Variable voltage and wattage back 3 years ago, but it is a nice feature to have. I have seen some of the devices for $40-$50 at American Vendors and then buying the batteries maybe like $15-$20.

I read it, haven't the foggiest what it means.

If he has a battery, why would a tank cost $100 ?
Is he just asking for a tank that could run on a 6V battery ?
If he doesn't have the battery, what does the 6v thingy apply too ?

So, I just tossed out a suggestion for a first aid kit while he got up to par and did whatever that 6v thing meant ... and with an adapter his ego stuff would probably work with whatever he ended up with in the long run.

Besides, once he got to madvapes, the DIY parts section might have what he was looking for, I think all he really needs is a screw for the contact switch ?

I too was going to say - most comparable devices run 18350, 18500, or 18650 batteries.
If you're used to, and want to stick with what looks like a bottom button mechanical, you could look at things like this or this, or this.
But that means new batteries too...
Or, as someone suggested, maybe you go "digital" now that it's readily available and get something like the very popular VAMO that lets you adjust voltage OR adjust watts to find the right vape...again - new batteries...

Good luck!!

You guys are the best!!!! Thank you so much. I feel like such a dinosaur trying to puzzle this stuff out.

"Whaddya mean it doesn't have a carburetor?"
"Fuel injection. New thing. Works way better, runs off an electronic control circuit."
"Electronic WHAT now??? Next I suppose you'll tell me it doesn't have a front-crank starter and it runs on unicorn tears!"

I exaggerate...only slightly. Just as a follow up: My reason for wanting the 6v was because when I started, my 510 at 3.7 volts was okay, but not the same throat hit or vapor production as smoking. When I went to a 5v pass through, it was a lot closer, probably the same as a Light Cig, but still wasn't QUITE there. The 6v V3 produced that awesome throat hit and vapor production I was looking for.

At this point I don't think I could go back to a 3.7v. I could survive with a 5v, but I found my sweet spot at 6.

So if you're picking up, for example, one of those mods that's under $50, and spending another $20 on new batteries - you still have room in your $100 budget to get a couple new gadgets for your juice - like a lower resistance cartomizer or clearomizer that might provide the HIT you want at lower voltage. Just a thought!

No worries, friend. Thank you for all your help.

To clarify further: the Puresmoker.com "Prodigy V3" model I used was a stainless steel tube mod with a 510 connector on the end and a mechanical switch on the bottom of the tube. It could take either one long 3.7v battery or two short 3.0v RCR-123a batts stacked in tandem.

When I mentioned this in the E-cig-forum chat room, everybody kinda recoiled in horror: "Those are terribly dangerous! Nobody stacks anymore!". Grandpa has been making his clothes out of asbestos, it seems... but I loved that 6v throat hit!

I don't really care in the slightest about adjusting my voltage or messing with crazy crap like that, but I'll take whatever works. Digital displays and the like are probably wasted on me. Gimme that throat hit and that vapor production and it can be a rock with a battery compartment for all I care.
