Ummm... OK, gonna sit back on dis 'un and watch da 'fireworks'!

PLEASE, learn and know batt/charger safety!!!

I'm a fishee but I am really feeling like a Duck! I am feeling pretty embarrassed because I'm thinking it could have been avoided had I used the charger that originally came with it. But I think it's super important to put this out there in hope that others will not make the mistake I think I made.

Savoir-Faire is everywhere!
I never trusted charging eGo type batteries and bought a LiPo bag to charge them in.

I don't know WHY I didn't trust them but they took so long to charge and I couldn't always be right there monitoring the situation so I wanted to minimize any damage that could arise from charging them.

I recommend people seriously consider getting a charging bag. I've charged from my computer many times with the battery just laying here on the table and my mom sitting right next to me. Damn!

Hi Fishee, I'm glad that you're ok and your house is fine. Lesson learned the hard way huh? It's very important that you charge batteries with chargers that are made for that battery. :)

For those that think this is a trolling post.....SMH
Accidents do happen to nice people. Maybe take this opportunity to educate about battery safety and the importance of using the correct chargers for the different devices. Explain how just because something fits, does not necessarily mean that it is safe.

Again Fishee, glad you and yours are safe. :)

I'm really, really glad you're okay. This is the downside to using lithium batteries - they feel like time bombs to me.

Not to turn this into a Provari thread because that's not my purpose here, but my boyfriend made me really paranoid about the batteries in our eGos, so when I read about the Provari the safety features were a big factor in the purchase.

I gave my old eGo to a friend but warned her to never charge it unattended. That was the genuine Joyetech one; I pitched the off-brand one because I don't want anyone using it.

We use 18650 batteries in our Provaris now (AW IMRs) and even though they are technically safer, I still don't charge them when we're not in the house and the charger sits in a Corningware pan. If they vent, they'll vent into that and not onto the furniture.

Thank you Robin it's really good to see a friendly face. I posted this at first because of the shock of it. Then when it started to sink in that I was likely the the cause I only wanted to get this stuff out there for the sake of those who are making or getting ready to make the same mistake i did. This is by far the most serious thing that has ever happened to me since I started vaping.

Savoir-Faire is everywhere!
Plug in charger w/o batt. Set DMM to correct DC volts setting. Touch probes to charger output terminals.
I'm interested to know if charger output is above spec.
If so, the charger is defective and dangerous.
He DID say he had the battery for a little over a year, too.

That strikes me as being quite a long time for one of those. I don't think I'd use one that long.

Had a lady once tell me she saw a rat the size of her cat (male Maine ....). Turned out to be a little mouse.

What caliber of gun did that sound like? .357? Howitzer?

Ha! My BF's mom was telling us about these HUGE rats that dug around in the dumpster at her apartment. We finally saw one - it was an opossum! LOL

Ive seen those Lippos bags that the guys w the R/C cars use but never thought about using them with other batteries.

Here is a link I found to a post about Lippos bags on this forum..
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/tutorials/355629-how-use-lipo-safe-battery-charging-bag.html

I bet alot of people dont even know these bags exist and why the R/C guys use em...

Now I need to find one to fit my Nitecore i4 charger......

Uh, there aint much I could do to test it. It's very melted and burnt. once I get the pics posted you'll see what I mean. It's one of those without the wire. It's like just one piece where one end is usb and the other end with the threading. It was originally for a cigalike kit I have. I hate to even admit that, because something in my gut wasn't comfortable. But this is also why I'm almost 100% SURE IT WAS MY FAULT.

I have mild pack rat tendencies but still managed to discard half a dozen unused cigalike batts just in case they get angry one day and pop; not likely. Also not likely I'd use them since spoiled w/ 18350 and above.

Agree... this was an important post. I'm glad OP is ok, and we can learn from what happened and from the discussion.

I had never heard of a LiPo bag but I do plan to get one now. I often leave my batteries on the charger overnight and sometimes when I'm not home... but never will again.

Who knows how many accidents or even worse, this post has saved. I'm glad it was shared.

Time to buy a new one that is made for your devices that you actually currently use.

Yeah, that would scare the hell out of me, too.
