It is beyond me how anyone would not know nicotine is addictive
People are different. Some have no trouble getting down to minimal nic levels, while others do; if they try they just vape more liquid to get the same amount of nic.Funny thing tho, after vaping and no cigs for 8 yrs, my nic level is down to 3 mg. I started at 18 to 12 and I just don't enjoy high nic levels at all anymore. Gives me a headache now.
Since we have nicotine receptors and it crosses the blood brain barrier I would say addiction to nicotine is very real. But it seems to depend on the individual also. Not everyone gets as addicted as the next person. I definitely had trouble giving up cigarettes, my brain would play tricks on me, that feeling of panic, got to have it now craving. The irritation and agitation while quitting. it took all my will power and vaping to quit smoking. Was not easy for me, but doable. Nicotine dependence - Symptoms and causesI can tell you with some confidence there are plenty medical professionals who do not believe in addiction full stop.
It may also depend on what tobacco one smoked. I always smoked lights, so around 12 nic I heard was comparable.People are different. Some have no trouble getting down to minimal nic levels, while others do; if they try they just vape more liquid to get the same amount of nic.
Genetic research seems to point to a hereditary trait for an addictive tendancy, meaning some folks are more likely to become addicted to a substance than others. In my college years and right after, I used another smokable substance recreationally. I found through my friends that smoking cigarettes helps prolong the experience. I could easily quit the "other substance", but the cigarettes had put a monkey on my back and I spent the next 30 years trying to get that dang monkey off of my back.Since we have nicotine receptors and it crosses the blood brain barrier I would say addiction to nicotine is very real. Nicotine has been my monkey too, I did not have a problem stopping smoking weed in the 70's after a really bad experience, not sure what was in that batch but it was scary. Never craved it, stopped cold turkey.Genetic research seems to point to a hereditary trait for an addictive tendancy, meaning some folks are more likely to become addicted to a substance than others. You know the story. I tried nic gum, nic patches, Welbutrin, and hypnosis. Nothing helps be get off smoking. Out of curiosity, I bought an NJoy disposable e-cigarette at the convenience store in addition to my daily pack of Marlboro's ... and by gosh I said, "I think an e-cigarette just might work."
I did some research online, found ECF, and ordered my first e-cig starter kit. A week after dual using, I was able to completely stop smoking. Haven't had another cigarette since. It's been over 7 years.
I started vaping 24 mg nic, it was too much. Dropped to 18 mg. Over the years I weaned that down to 6mg. Dropping lower than 6 mg I get those withdrawal symptoms again. I'm still a nicotine addict and will probably always be one.
I think that was when the government was spraying the plants in Mexico and the US with Paraquat.Nicotine has been my monkey too, I did not have a problem stopping smoking weed in the 70's after a really bad experience, not sure what was in that batch but it was scary. Yikes that was bad! All I know is the hallucinating effect of this one type was extreme and I thought I was going to die. That was it for me LOL!I think that was when the government was spraying the plants in Mexico and the US with Paraquat.

My memory of paraquat is that it is a not particularly safe herbicide. It works by sucking water out of plants and killing them. If it ALL reacts with water it leaves no residue. The problem is that it often doesn’t all react. Perfection is rare. It turned into a real problem because since it can be used to make plants dry really quickly it is sometimes used on purpose by drug growers to do just that.Yikes that was bad! This is 100% why vaping worked for me. And it is why I still vape. I'm usually on 1-2mg/ml, because I vape so frequently. Nervous habit. If it wasn't for vaping I'm confident I'd still be a smoker, raising my total years smoking from 9 to 14. I'm pretty sure that at this point, if I make an effort to cut the nic down to 0, I could do it. But I'd struggle like hell to quit vaping altogether. I could do it. I don't want to, though. So perhaps it is more than just nicotine that I'm addicted to. Perhaps it is the behavior, too. Hand to mouth and inhaling/exhaling is part of my addiction, too.
I forgot to add that FLAVORS were extremely important for my early success with vaping. In hindsight, if my e-cigarettes had tasted like a tobacco flavored cigarette, I undoubtedly would have failed with vaping. Thank God there were fruit and desert flavors to choose from. This is 100% why vaping worked for me. And it is why I still vape. I'm usually on 1-2mg/ml, because I vape so frequently. Nervous habit. 100% agree with that as well, I couldn't have done it without flavors. It took a few juices, but when I found one that "clicked" for me it was game-over for cigarettes. Now I'm vaping unflavored 99% of the time but I could not have done it without flavors.I forgot to add that FLAVORS were extremely important for my success. And this is the very reason why banning flavors will be the end of vaping in the US.100% agree with that as well, I couldn't have done it without flavors.
