I think your getting a little greedy with the provaris, save some for the rest of us!

Some of us have made a bigger dent in the Provari stock than others :p I have done my fair share but Zen tops us all with his collection

Hi everyone,
I have a really good friend who has been smoking for 50+ years (she's in her mid-70s, and she's my mentor). I'm going to visit her in Cali in a couple weeks and she's told me she wants to switch to vaping. Otherwise she's not going to quit smoking - she likes it and doesn't want to quit. But when I told her my story, she asked me to help her switch. So I feel her chances of success are very good.

I'm taking a rolling workshop's worth of juices and hardware with me, and I'm in good shape with what I'm going to do on that front. She's had the exact same experiences as I did (tried a couple times using crappy cig-a-likes and gave up), so I think what worked for me might work for her. And if not, I have many other options for her to try, and 4 days to do it in.

I'm starting to compile a list of must-read (and must-have) items for her. It took me lots of time and digging to find bits and pieces of info when I started - way too time-consuming for her, considering the looming deadline. She's a lifelong professional engineer with a masters in chemistry and very intelligent - so I need CURRENT, authoritative, expert-level, factual and robust info/tutorials. Ideally in one place (but def without comments, hearsay or meandering). She has to get 100% up to speed in a VERY short time.

Because vapageddon is looming, I have to teach her coil-building, basic juice mixing and other DIY stuff early on - we don't have time to wait for her to get there organically (at least the stuff that's best taught in person) at this visit, because I won't be seeing her IRL again anytime soon (at least for another year).

So what I'm asking is, what would you do? The big game-changing factor here is TIME. As in, we don't have much. She'll have to be DIYing and stockpiling nic and gear from the very earliest moments of her conversion, racing up the learning curve in record speed. No moseying, like I did (like most of us did, with the luxury of time for exploration).

Any help greatly appreciated. This lady is like a mom to me, and I really owe her. I want to do this right. And I can't imagine any group of people who could help me more than you folks. Thanks is advance!!!
I have had extreme failure in getting a person of that age to switch. They get discouraged with tech. In my experience anyway. It overwhelms them and they stick with the stinkies. Let's face it. With stinkies, all you need is a cigarette and a lighter. No batteries, juice, or coils to worry about. My advice is to keep it as simple as possible. Keep it REAL simple. That's going to be hard to do with the royal reaming we are being forced to take. I wish you and your friend the best of luck. Prayers your way.

Lightningvapes.com is having a sale for the next 6 hours - 20% off. 500 feet of 26 gauge kanthal is only $16.80. Based on my calculations, I now have enough wire for 16.81 years.

I know wire is low down the list for those materials "generally recognized as necessary" for stockpiling, but I couldn't help myself.

I'm getting a bunch for myself AND some thicker wire for my But Out Bag. You never know when you're going to need to trip someone, catch a critter for food, need to fish to survive build a tent, or other various reasons. Great prices on everything they have! Thanks for the heads up! +1

How many stores both b&ms and online vendors are going to stay open after August 9th, 2016. I don't think there will be that many. They'll sell what they have and then get out is what I suppose will happen. And they'll sell through their stock quicker than we think.
All I can say is that if I owned a vape-related business, I would not fold quite so easily.

I'm sure some won't and will try to wait it out to see if things can get changed. I think it also depends on who gets in the white house and congress. But there are alot of people that just went in to make a buck. Not true believers, if you know what I mean.

It bothers me a LOT. But what can we do. Some people simply refuse to believe the Govt would do that.

Yoy can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink.

I've been thinking about this. Sure there are those 'wantabes' that never secured their supply of smokes. They would show up for a weekend outing with 1/2 a pack and admittedly smoke 1PAD. Those of us that prepared would offer comments such as "so your quitting this weekend eh?".

I have no sympathy for those folks.

I suppose there are a BUNCH of folks that simply wander into their local B&M to get supplies. Unless the B&M mention the deeming their customers have no idea. The same goes for every 'vaping' related website I've made purchases from over the last few weeks and months. Not a peep on the deeming.

So unless something is mentioned on the 6pm news it is rather doubtful that John/Jane Q. Public vape user knows what is going on. Unless of course they venture to sites such as this one.

Then again the 4 local B&M's that I've wandered into in the last few weeks did not mention a thing about what is going on to me. I had to ask. All of them downplayed the situation rather than voice concern and outline the steps they are doing to fight it because their business will be greatly effected by it.

I have enough nicotine to last a very very long time. I have more mods and RTAs than I know what to do with. I vape unflavored so don't have to worry about that. Wire and cotton I can get from non-vaping related sources.

    I'm prepared.;)

I'm sure most, if not all of you watched Dimitri explain the bill in detail at Phil Busardo's channel. That was a long video but extremely detailed. His passion for the vaping industry, among others is amazing. VERY well educated and well informed advocate - for whatever he stands for. Including his restaurant. Anyone been there?

With that said, Momma's going shopping tonight, big time. I'm in AZ so I have 5.5 hours. Will hit Lightning's first then DNA and others, then Heather's. Sunday vape sales are really good. Is there a dedicated thread for vendor discounts?

Oh, and FastTech (I'm starting to hate that name) has a 15% off 'certain' items. The owner emailed me back when one of the coupon codes I had wouldn't work on a Monday. He told me,"If you're buying in bulk, call customer service for a 'possible' discount." GFYS you Rude and Holier than Thou SOB. Don't think I'll be buying from them any more. In fact, I don't see them supported or advertised on Phil's site or any of the other highly regarded reviewer's sites either. [Done ranting.]

I'm already seeing shops shut down in the metro area here in Phoenix, AZ. Several aren't ordering any more supplies/juice and on their way to shutting down also. The more popular shops remain open and advocate heavily to keep their shops alive. They'll fight until the end. Okay, off to shopping/stockpiling.

So, I still haven't bought a mech yet. How much would you charge for just ONE of those things if I don't buy one before vapocalypse?

Don't yell at me Two Bears, I've been blowing all my cash on nicotine base.:)
