The sole reason I got into building and Mech's a few months back was due to the pending FDA B.S. I also never had a desire like yourself, thing is I really love it once I started. It's not difficult, actually pretty easy.

I agree. I bet you found two unexpected bebefits to rebuilding.

1. Better flavor
2. A consistent vape

I have always fully believed, and stated on many occasions, that the states will take care of what the FDA does not when it comes to vaping control/regulations/bans/taxes. We need make sure that we are not so focused on what the FDA is doing we forget to watch the attacks at the state and even local level against us.

Which reminds me............We need to make NJ residents aware - Government is attempting to force them to choose to use one of the highest risk Flavors tested and documented to date. - Menthol

While Many fold safer than Smoking, Menthol is significantly less healthy than vaping, say, pina colada  (Documented Cell Death testing)
Information gathered from Olivers latest Documentary Release.

Mechs are ok as long you avoid two things.

1. Don't build stupid low

2 don't run a sub Ohm Tank on a mech
Sub ohm tank is perfectly safe on a mech, fact is there are a number of mechs designed specifically for Tanks like the Kato, Gizmo, etc.

Here's some of mine

Been DIY'ing since 2012. For now, I'm just stockpiling 100mg nic and talking with my friend who owns a mill and a lathe. He must know someone with a CNC. :)

How can the land of the free, a supposedly great democracy become some draconian and prohibit an entire industry like this, particularly one that is helping people get off smoking ?

Just to clarify, we are a Representative (or Constitutional) Republic, not a Democracy. The Constitution and Declaration of Independence don't even mention 'Democracy'. Please do more research and understand more about America before you make statements like that in the future.

To go a bit further, the side I happen to disagree with isn't the 'Democratic' Party, but rather the 'Democrat' Party...which are drastically different in today's political climate.

Have only read the first couple of pages and the last few, so apologies if already discussed, but any reason you guys are stockpiling now ? Am i misreading the deemings, or is it that you just don't trust the FDA. Do we not theoretically have access to everything that's currently on the market, until Aug 7, 2018 ? Aren't vendors going to introduce new products at least until Aug 7, 2016 ?

I think it's a little unclear what will happen after August 8 to those manufacturers (including house and lab liquid makers)that don't formally start the approval process by then. There's also some uncertainty about whether and which resellers will continue. I think there is a certain amount of fear that the FDA may take more aggressive action after that date, as they've written the regs with options to advance them at their discretion. That's my take on the situation.

I think many already had a pretty solid stockpile based on the events leading up to this, but some now wish they had a stock at least for peace of mind. For some, vaping is helping them stay healthy and they don't want to risk returning to smoking, including myself.

Hopefully it will just mean many of us will have a lot of extra stuff to use in the future or help another vaper.

I've been debating between mech and regulated for stockpiling. Going the mech route scares me. I know I can educate myself on safety, etc., but I think I would always be a little nervous using mech mods. Regulated would be the way to go (for me) normally, but regulated mods are just not going to last as long. I really resent being put in this position by the FDA as it compromises my personal safety in so many ways.

I feel the same way. I want to get a mech just in case, but I really don't feel comfortable using one. I like my regulated mods.

My concern is How do we Better prepare all those rushing out to purchase some things they have on previous exposure to?
Stockpiling Nic sounds Great, and my Freezer will attest to my determination not to be dictated to. However, Improperly handled, highly concentrated Nicotine Can be a serious Risk.

I'm not going to Preach all the Safety Tips in this post but PLEASE, PLEASE, Please ask someone if there is anything you are uncertain or uncomfortable with.
Many of us have had a long time to work out the kinks in protecting ourselves and loved ones.

Speaking of which, I have my first ever order of 100mg nic coming. I've never dealt with nicotine in these kinds of strengths and am somewhat concerned.

Can someone tell me how do you handle 100 mg nicotine when transferring into smaller bottles? Do you wear gloves? What about the fumes? Are they harmful?

Has anyone spilled or dripped any 100 mg nicotine on themselves?

Nothing concrete then to suggest say nicotine or hardware won't be readily and legally available for purchase in September 2016 or February 2018 ?

Once deemed tobacco products (which they will be as of August, right?), will we be able to purchase them online with credit cards or even get them delivered? I am concerned about that, so I feel a real pressure to buy everything I think I might need to vape for the rest of my life by August 8. Lol, this all feels so surreal.

Wearing gloves is usually recommended,and probably a good idea,although personally i don't,but i still agree it's a good idea.
As for spilling or dripping it on myself, yes,i have gotten it on my hands several times from grabbing the syringe that i stuck into the bottle, and had no effect from it,just simply washed my hands with soap and water.Gloves are still a good idea though, because not everyone may react the same way,and someone else getting it on their skin may have a reaction to it.

Either gloves or near a faucet to wash your hands

How about shorts? I bought half a dozen of those "2 cent" fuses at a time when I was considering getting a mech, but I never ended up getting one. Any experience with these fuses? Do they actually work?

Yes shorts can be an issue.

But MECHS are not suitable for beginners.

I vape aerotanks when out and about and kayfuns at home. Love the ease of just swapping coil heads in the aerotanks. A coil lasts a week of exclusive use. My wife wanted me to buy her a 10 year supply of kanger heads. A $500 investment in cheap heads isn't the smartest play and rebuilding those dual coil heads in no easy task.

Building coils for a kayfun on an $8 coil jig is super easy. And a good coil lasts for months. Re-wicking once a week is as easy as changing a kanger head.

I like many love the convenience of just unscrewing, tossing, and putting in a new one. But if we really do get screwed as bad as the regs imply, learning to build a single coil tank is much easier than when I first started doing it. Coil jigs do the work for you and many rta's are designed with simplicity in mind unlike years ago when it was an art form. Now it's just a mapped out process and requires almost no fiddling or worries.

It's to the point now where the hard part is getting the wick right and not wrapping the coil. Once you figure the wick for a specific tank it becomes second nature. I'm a simpleton builder and can do it without thinking about it. It's worth learning considering what we may be facing
I agree with this. If you have not learned to build just try it. Once I learned it I realized the intimidation was far worse than it needed to be. Get a simple single coil dripper and practice. You will be amazed at the simplicity. Then you will no longer be a slave to buying coils. I too love the ease of popping in a coil but rarely do it because I do not want to buy them and I like to have the option of the variations in ohms at my fingertips. I use any number of things from the little blue screwdriver that comes with drippers, to drill bits. Very rarely use any coil jigs anymore

Don't forget using hot springs as a way to protect against shorts. That's what my REO mechs use. I don't sub ohm, and have only lost one spring due to a defective pre-made atty. I'm not too concerned about using mechs, since I have been using them for years.

Regarding the August 8 date--Some of us unfortunately live in states where tobacco products can't legally be bought over the internet. Face-to-face sale only. It's possible that some will get through after that date, but personally I'm not chancing it.
