Not so much along those lines, but "Clones" made by the Original OEM.
---
I knew the Owner of a company that made Very High End knives. Very High End and Very Expensive. He needed some help Trouble-Shooting some CNC Code and I meet him at his
shop on a Sunday.
I got there kinda Early and when I walked in, he was putting his Newest Folding Model into plain White Boxes. I asked him what he was doing because his knives normally went out in a Velvet Bag inside a Cool Presentation Box. He told me, with a Huge Grin on his face that he was Boxing up "Clones".
It took me a second to Figure it out. Because how could the Original OEM make a Clone of his own product?
But he explained that there just Wasn't any way to stop people from Cloning his Knives. So instead of losing out on that market, why not make his Own and sell them
thru a "Middle Man" distributor. The profit was much Less. But as he put it...
"You can Never go broke taking a Profit". And his Clones were as Good as the Originals. Because they WERE the Originals. LOL.
So sometimes when I see a "Clone" I wonder if it was made by another Party? Or if it was made By/For the Original OEM?
