I would love to go 0 mg but scared to. I think its to soon since I quit smoking to try it. I will eventually though. IMO, if I can't get down to 0 mg nic, I feel like all I have done was trade one bad habit for another.

One of the main reasons I wanted to quit smoking was because I was so tired of being a prisoner to cigarettes. Planning my day around my smokes. A real pain in the hiney. Well, I may not be smoking cigarettes, but my day is still planned around vaping. A healthier alternative, I am happy for. I would eventually love to be able to say I am nicotine free. :)

Nice sentiment, but why quit nic?

Alot of peeps vape to avoid dying early and to not suffer cancer or emphysema on that slow spiral to eventual death.

I doubt I will ever be nic free and many others here too I suspect.

At least we will be here a lot longer to enjoy more of that nic :D

Regardless, I'm very happy for you and hope that you attain your goals.

Welcome, fellow vaper person :)

Me too. I started with 24mg of nicotine and down to 16mg after the first month. I plan on ordering 12mg on my next order of eJuice. It might take me 6 months, but I am working towards quiting nicotine all together. I also, vape more like I would smoke. I try not to be sucking on it all the time. I did vape quite a bit the first two weeks, but now just do it to get a nic fix.

However, I wouldn't call vaping a "bad habit" so much as a habit. Studies I am reading say nicotine is about as harmful as the caffeine one gets from drinking coffee. Practiced in moderation, neither are any where near as "bad" as smoking cigs.

Good Luck!

One way to look at it is that while you're still using nicotine you're getting 1% the carcinogins you were from analogues, while also not smelling like a smoker, breathing easier, and being able to taste better (E-cigs, run faster, jump higher). I've personally stepped down from a pack a day of full flavored American Spirits to 18mg juice, and am now vaping 6mg.

I'm kind-of the opposite of you PaporPlas... I started low out of wanting to just vape as much as I wanted, but it was too low. Sampler packs at about 12mg and two bigger bottles at 18mg. Now, almost out due to improper carto filling and such... Probably going to try 24mg this next time. I still have not quit analogs, but my usage is down, which I'm glad for. Hoping to be able to get that quick nic buzz with 24mg, which would probably help with the analog cravings.

I know why smoking is a bad habit. Why is vaping a bad habit? I mean, yeah, it's a habit.

Is this about using nicotine versus abusing it? I agree that that's a personal decision. But you're trading nicotine for nicotine.

But does the person next to me need to know what mg I'm using? What if I'm on 0mg? Is the fact that I'm exhaling vapor that smells like cookies bothering him enough to stop? Is his aftershave bad enough for me to ask him to move?

How deep does the rabbit hole go :)

when I was at 12mg I decided I would give 0mg a try mixed up my favorite flavor with no nic and vaped it and nothing else for the rest of the night I was fine I didn't kill anybody I woke up the next day started vaping it again went to work about 1/2 way through my day I realize I was having a hard time concentrating and I had a dull nagging headache then I remembered that I was vaping 0 nic so at that point I decide i would do the slow step down instead it really wasn't to bad if I didn't work in a high pressured job I'd probably would have kept going with it and I decided that the day I go to 0 nic I'll be taking PTO for the week.

Rabbit hole indeed. Being very new myself I have already been over the questioning of why vape at all. I know the nicotine is the reason I have been able to cold turkey the smokes and like everyone says you can cut the nic down slowly and wean the body off it. I dont see this in my immediate future but there is a path by simple adjustment if one wanted to unlike smoking where trying to cut down rarely works for most people.

LOL! I like your logic here... But I see what she's saying, she would just like to be completely free of this kind of habit one day and that's a great goal, just take baby steps and you'll get there one day. Stop smoking today, then cut your nic rate a little each day, week, month what ever rate your comfortable with and you'll get there. So in the mean time enjoy vapin.

I fell off the wagon last year. I started vaping with 36mg and weened myself all the way down to zero and stopped altogether. I felt fine but missed the hand to mouth but fought through the urges. Then I had a loss in the family and went straight for the camels. That started a downward spiral and I ended up smoking more than I had originally within the first few weeks.
I started vaping again which was much harder the second time, but I've take my Nic down from 36mg to 12mg and don't plan to go any lower. If I do, great. If I dont, great. I feel like if I stop again, the first tragedy that comes my way will have me running to the gas station to buy smokes and calm myself. Of course this is just me. I know myself and know that I need the ritual of inhale, exhale and the clouds to calm my nerves. For those that get to zero and stay there, congrats! I figure if I do a day without vaping, cool. But I still want to have my PV around just in case. I'm addicted to nicotine, yes. But I'm extremely addicted to the act of smoking/vaping. I feel like a traded a very bad habit for a habit. Now if only i could stop biting my nails. ;)

I have wondered if this could be the result of "quitting vaping."

Thanks for the transparency and words of wisdom.

I have also been vaping like I smoked. I only go outside to vape. I do not want to get into the habit of sitting here at my computer with an e-cig any more than I do with a cig. I guess it's fear that vaping is to good to be true and will be found to be even more dangerous than smoking. I have read all of the research and right now it seems to be a better alternative to smoking, but there was a time when smoking analogs was not considered dangerous either. I mean, I have a picture of my mom sitting on a hospital bed 9 months pregnant with me and about to give birth at any second and she had a cig in her mouth and the ash tray sitting right next to her. lol So I guess it goes back to the old saying "if its sounds to good to be true, chances are it is."

My plan is the baby steps. It may take me a month or a year, but eventually I will get there. My main focus right now is to not pick up analogs ever again and if that means vaping 5000000 mg of nicotine, then so be it. LOL

I have had to answer that question "why vape at all?" and I try to explain to non-smokers the advantages and they look at me like I am crazy. lol So, I guess I started thinking it to myself. Now keep in mind that when the urges and nic fits are in full swing....... I could care less about anything but my vaping. LOL And very thankful I found this place!!!
