All I want is a freaking "beep" that I could program the timing of through a USB adaptor. It would cost pennies.

I swear I'm getting alot more Nicotine now than before. The one GOOD thing about patches and gum...besides the fact that they don't work...is you always knew how much Nicotine you were getting.

As far as a puff counter that you could download onto your computer or Smart Phone to monitor daily intake...that would be cheap as well...Just skip the LCD on the actual Cig.

It's because the Chinese invented these things....we have to steal their idea and make it better.

The Chinese are genius for coming up with this.

To the OP: Mike, I'm very sorry if you feel that I hijacked your thread in any way. I thought I was participating. One last post?
... the led light is bad enough. Can you not just measure the amount of nicotine added during the day and divide this by the average nicotine levels in a cigarette? for instance if you vaped 5 mg in one sitting that might be the equivalent of 5 analogs
No, the LED sucks big time, much worse than any of the fanciful "improvements" mentioned in this thread. At least THEY would have a purpose to someone. What the hell is that damned LED good for? Huh? I mean, I know they blink some codes to tell ya what they're up to. But, do they have to be on the tip, clearly intending to approximate the glowing tip of a lit cigarette? (in various colors) That's just really, really, really stupid. If some sort of LED indicator is necessary, let's get the appearance a little more refined, please, and get away from the child's toy look. Case in point, the power switch integrated LED on the TorneGo ... I approve. Another case, the Janty Kissbox Classic ... no LED whatsoever, nice ... I approve.

As far as I know, your suggested method for calculating nicotine absorption won't work for the same reason that it is impossible to say how much a cigarette smoker absorbs, short of blood analysis. Different people vape differently and will absorb varying amounts of nicotine from the same amount of equal strength juice consumed.
The 1st thing I would have to do is remove the beep, squeal, click, vibrator or what ever else it was. I would be going off all the time. Right now I'm happy as a pig in sh** that I'm not smoking anymore. My 1st month in 32 yrs. As long as I'm not sick I'm gonna vape like crazy.
If I thought I could pry the LEDs off the tips of my PVs without screwing up the circuitry, I probably would do that. Don't know why you feel the hypothetical audio cue would be going off "all the time", especially as presented in this thread as a programmable feature ... you could turn it off. But, I'm with you on your excitement about quitting! I just passed eight weeks after more than 35 years. I don't even think about cigarettes anymore. That is shocking to me, when I think about it.

Vape on!

Hello All...

Just thought I would add this, I found it the other day while reading in another thread.

A guy wrote:

1 pack of cigarettes equals approx 20mgs of nicotine
so approx 2ml of 11mg strength-liquid, would equal about 22 cigs per day.

This calculation was a good find for me, so I will know just about how much to Vape. And, the strength he mentioned was at 11mg, but the e-liquids come in a variety of strengths.

Hope this helps :nun:
That's very fun and all, but probably totally wrong.

Basically, it ignores the absorption rates of cigarettes versus electronic cigarettes.
It also ignores the fact that cigarettes vary GREATLY in their nicotine content.

The fact is nobody here knows how to draw an equivalence, other than what your body tells you.
Currently, I am buying into the 50% argument, rather than the 10% argument.

In other words, it makes sense to me that we are getting 50% as much nicotine from electronic cigarettes as we are from real cigarettes. There are many posts and threads throughout the nether regions of this forum where people are seriously at work studying these questions.

I get where your coming from. Some people want to make sure they aren't getting more nicotine than before because they don't want to become further enslaved to it.

A friend of mine swears she has an e-cig model than turns off after 10-15 hits, but she might just be confusing that with a dying battery.

As for me, I plan on decreasing my dosage down to medium after this last refill carton. The goal is to get to zero and not be at risk for tearing someone's head off in a fit of rage induced by lack of nicotine.

I serously doubt that a single beep to indicate a preset level of puffs (or whatever) would use a MUCH power as that damned LED on the tip of most batteries, which turns on whenever the power is applied and stays on until it is cut.
While neither consumes a great deal of power, the LED spends MUCH more of its time powered up.

LinkReincarnate: I could be wrong, but I think most of the people who tossed ideas into the hat were more or less doing thought experiments and enjoying discussing whatever possibilities could exist. But, I've been wrong before. As for myself, I'd probably get a kick out of the info provided by the LCD 'suggestion' I threw in. But, in my view, that feature would just add to the geekiness of the device. And that appeals to me. As far as adding clunkiness by the addition of a beep, a tiny peizoelectric transducer and a tiny chip to control it would probably fit inside most PVs without any kind of physical outward change, other than a tiny port for the sound.

Now, a USB port for downloading saved statistics would necessarily add "clunkiness", but wouldn't it be kewl to view and graph the data on your PC? :D

Not that I think any of this stuff is likely to be offered ... nothin' wrong with conversation, huh?

How about a rigging it to tell you how many Tofu calories you have consumed or better yet an alarm clock with I-Tunes option...

Keep it simple for me..;)

I struggled with this issue when I first started and have now fixed that problem. The logical thing I do that works for me is drip. If you think about it, a cigarette is finished when you can not smoke it any more. I drip 3 drops and get about 10+ good hits from it. At that point vapor, TH, and flavor drops quickly, giving me the feeling that I am done.

BTW: The act of dripping sort of mimics lighting up a cigarette. It recreates the process.

I like this. Excellent point, that I haven't seen said in exactly those words.
