The first week of e-cigs has been grueling. Far from having a problem with wanting analogs, my biggest issue has been the damage they did to my sense of taste. At first all the flavours I bought - apart from one or two that saved my sanity - tasted like plastic, or like nothing at all, or like mentholated ....-juice. Here we are a week later and suddenly the subtle flavour of many of them is becoming enjoyable at last.

A couple of days ago I sat down to dinner and noticed that the fried tomatoes and onions that my brother had cooked were really good. Like awesomely good in fact. Then little by little I started getting taste from some of the Dekang juice mixes I had here that, only a few days ago, were pretty blah.

So I retried the 30ml bottles of Marlboro and Mint bought from another vendor and they too were OK now. Then I had a shot of some Black Sambuca mix that I made myself and found it far too strong.

What a weird and wonderful trip. One thing that has occurred to me is that the usual weight gain isn't likely to happen. With the great flavour of these juices, who needs to eat to excess?

LOL I smoked analogs for over 45 years up to 2-3 packs a day. It's amazing the flavors we will try. (Right down to the butter popcorn, Bacon, and my standbys. Chocolate/Vanilla 555, RY4, and a couple of others I'd have to look at the bottle to remember. I always carry about 6-8 flavors everyday . Oh and peanut butter. OMG it's desert in a vape
And the chocolate hazelnut all from EC blends..

You are lucky your tastebuds recovered so quickly. For me, I thought everything tasted better right from the start. Then about 4 weeks into it, I couldn't taste any of my ejuices. I could still taste food and beverages, however. It's a weird phenom that I'd say most of us go through at some point. It took me a good 2 weeks to start being able to taste any ejuice again and probably another 2 weeks to get my full sense of taste back. A lot of it has to do with hydration, so make sure you drink plenty of H2O.

Yeah, I'm a dinosaur as well. 45 years, 60 a day towards the end. Bleugh.

I'm thinking Vegemite; pate and strawberry; and peanut butter, manuka honey & banana. DIY mixes butofcourse.

You can keep the bacon flavour (must be an American thang!) but choc/hazelnut sounds awesome.

For me, spicy foods are the biggest change in taste. I had Indian roommates in college; between that and smoking, my spice tolerance got pretty high. After vaping since March, my spice tolerance has taken a hit. For example, at CoCo Ichibanya (Japanese curry chain) I used to enjoy a spice level 4 or 5. These days a 4 is slightly uncomfortable for me and I have to go with a 3.

I went through that. I didn't know about the hydration but I am thirsty most of the time. My UT loves that I drink a lot of water of course. I still have to go heavy on my flavors but I had another problem caused by an injury so I'm just glad to taste at all.
I've done all the Googling I can do and I am still at a loss... what is a UT?

I had the same experience! As a menthol smoker for 20+ years I was stressing to find the right menthol when I first started. But come to find out after a week, I prefer coffee and fruit flavors more. Several told me it was due to my tastebuds coming back. I really enjoyed food before cigarettes but now its even better. Also my tolerance for spicy foods is not as high as before. Vape on! :D
