I'm way more in awe of it rather than proud of an accomplishment.
What does that mean...well, when I spent $80 of hard earned money for an NPro kit, it was almost like throwing the towel in on life. I felt so awful physically that all I really had energy for was to sit down, drink coffee, and smoke cigarettes all day (2-3-+PPD). I couldn't breath, I was coughing all the time, waking up in the morning with my face swollen, blotchy skin, "0" energy ~ none. Couldn't sleep, couldn't stay awake. I was 62 years old and had smoked cigarettes for 44 years, since I was 18. I re-upholster furniture for my living, and a small couch my husband and I had to go pick and carry to the van almost killed me, it took an hour for me to catch my breath and stop shaking, coughing, it almost put me down to the ground. It scared the hell out of me. I thought it was the BIG one. (I was hiding all that from everyone. How STUPID I felt to keep smoking.)
As with many smokers, it finally scared me. I knew it was over unless I could find some way to get off cigarettes. I'd tried, patches, cold turkey, it just put me down in the dumps so bad I'd always go back. Very depressing.
I did a Google for 'smoke free' and found an ad for e-cigarettes!
On March 9th, 2009, my NPro arrived. I did everything wrong with it, but in three hours' time (had to stop and recharge!) it seemed like it might work. (It tasted and smelled CLEAN, I won't say the juice was delicious!) I lit a cigarette waiting for the battery, and it tasted so awful and stunk so bad, I put it out. That was my last one! Three days later, still no cigarette, I told my husband how I'd spent $80! HE stopped smoking too! He still chews, which is fine, not interested in the hassle of e-cigs, however.
The journey began, I never in my life had dreamed not smoking tobacco would be one of the easiest things I ever had to do! Three weeks later I found ECF, (which by the way had about 5,000 members!) and thanks to all here the transition not only became fun, but the learning process will never end. All I can say to people is RESEARCH. Look for the facts, not a way to justify opinions. So far the small downsides and learning curve of an electronic device is the minor thing ~ what we miss by not combusting/inhaling tobacco is totally incredible! There is so much more information online now than 12 months ago, go for it!!
And God Bless all of You and ECF, you guys made my life so worth living again. I try to keep my words at a minimum now-days, but see what I just did ~ again!

 Congratulations!

My one year is coming up. :w00t: March 26, 2009 was my first day "smoke" free. I hadn't even thought about quitting, but a friend of mine, on a pet forum, was starting a new online business. She and her (then) boyfriend were opening up a DIY Liquid place (it's now known as Juicy Liquid) and asked if I'd ever heard about e-cigs. I got my first 801 from her and the fixings to make my own juice, but while waiting for them to come online, I ordered a 901 from Rob at Alt Smoke. I started with that and continued with it and the 801 when I got it. I was a week in when my hubby decided to jump on the train. It is now almost a year later and missjaaxx is now mrsjaaxx. I still get my flavor from Juicy Liquid, I still buy my hardware from Alt Smoke, and I still mix my own juice.

ETA: Sorry, not quite a hijack, but pretty close.

Thanks to all, it really is fine to see my numbers!
KentC, what a nice thing to say, I can say the same about you!
Wolf, no hi-jack, welcome in and will be watching your number turn as well! I posted in this Thread so everyone could join in, and so all can see how really easy it can be. Not un-frustrating, but the big picture is so achievable. It doesn't matter if I vape forever, my motto has been to do no harm. By Gosh, it has seemed to work!

Thanks! I don't plan to quit vaping any time soon. I have been building up my supply of atomizers. I think I'm up to about 23 stocked away. When the ones we're using start to feel heavy on the draw, I do some hot water rinses on them. Atomizers seem to last much longer with my SB and BB than they ever did on stock batteries. JMHO

Congrats on this wonderful feat! I have quit analogs twice in the 18 years of smoking. Once for a period of 2 years, the other for just over a year. I remember feeling so proud of myself being off them. But always ended up back on them eventually! Im on my third attempt so far, 2 months in. I ordered my kit last week and hope to have it any day. You are an insparation to say the least!

And they want to ban these products?? This just makes me livid! The tobaco co's should EMBRACE this, and market their liquid. Real Malboro NIC, or Camel, (or DuMaurier for us cannucks). And like all else tax it, cause well their greedy :) (not that I want this to be more expensive)

A very hearty congratulations to you Kate! How are you feeling now - as opposed to how you felt before?
Before? I was closer to dead, mentally and physically, than I even knew. The only thing I had enough energy to do was sit and smoke. When the coffee ran out I went and got some more. When the cigarette ended before the coffee, I went and got another. I did whatever job I had to do just by sheer will. I was totally consumed with an addiction I no longer had any control over. Addictions do rule your life, even if you won't admit it or let it show. I couldn't breath, only ate to have a smoke after, nothing tasted good, my lungs and bronchia were totally clogged and mucous thickened. I gurgled when I took a breath. Sinuses always swollen and infected, my facial skin looked like a mummy's, blotchy from clogged capillaries. Yellow fingers, couldn't even bleach that out. I had ZERO energy, only stamina granted by my German/Swiss heritage. I couldn't sleep, coughing all the time, couldn't function when I was awake. Every picture of me that exists shows me with a cigarette in my hand. Memory problems/thought processes extremely diminished because of sleep deprevation. Heart Palpitations. Shakiness from the weakness.
To compound the problem, I work at home, so am here usually alone 24-7. No social 'help' or 'limitations' on my access to cigarettes. I was totally depressed and out of close contact with people, my own family too, because I could imagine how I smelled and looked, but I couldn't smell anything! I could see how I looked, haggard and old. At 62 I felt like 90. Or more!

You name it, I was that!

But after struggling make that darned e-cig work right (learning curve!), it was definitely like being born again, all new, almost all of those symptoms were wanning or gone! I felt clean, refreshed, energy galore, and fully functional, after the first week, and it was like a miracle, sounds goofy but it was for me a miracle. (Some of that energy was probably withdrawal, but it was a good energy.) I will never put another cigarette in my mouth. I do have a short-of-breath day still, once in awhile, probably always will, but I'd say my lungs are about 85-90% of my pre-smoking young days (age 18). Breathing Excercise (constantly) and a Primatine tablet helps a lot, and I can now work through shortness of breath, where before I had to stop and sit down for awhile until it passed. Now it just feels uncomfortable sometimes.
I feel Terrific! And happy, my family is thrilled, and so am I. It's great not to have to hide away anymore. Now, I do a lot of Ranting on ECF!! I know, I always get so wordy, sorry.
