I'm enjoying your cotton very much, Tree. I didn't have any flavor issues with the sterile stuff, so I wasn't looking for an alternative. Nonetheless, I do find some differences. For one thing, that "cottony" taste that I get with a fresh build is there in equal degree; however, it tastes like natural cotton, and not vague "zingy-ness" like the bleached stuff. Also, it seems like the fibers are more robust. This, I imagine, will prove to be a boon or bane with a few days time. Maybe it will hold up longer. (that's my guess) Also, the format is actually really nice. The flat rectangular pads are easy to divide into wick-sized portions, and the fibers seem to be more aligned. If I weren't all'a time squonking, I'd be curious about whether this stuff actually wicks faster than sterile cotton. (?)

Anyhow, thanks! I can say for sure that it is at least as good as sterile cotton. If there's anyone out there who actually boils their sterile cotton balls, this would be an excellent "use from the box" alternative.

May I introduce the "Dibby Bubble-headed Shorty" wood DT!?!?

Short and round, perfect for my likes:

Does justice to the Cyclone:

Nice color match to the Touchwood mod:

And while I have your attention, meet the rest of the boys. Looks pretty good on the 2.1, eh!!

And this one:

Ain't too shabby on this one either:

And one of the whole family including the "Brit":

And here's....What tha.....!!!

This hand crafted drip tip is not only a terrific gift from a most excellent reonaut, it is representative of what makes REOville such a magical cyberplace. A big ol' heart felt thanks to the "dibster".:thumb:

Groucho Reo? i swoon...

TBH I do have a proper wood lathe (of course), but it's not set up for this miniature crap. I don't think a man's supposed to have a mini lathe and turn pens for all his friends until he's over 58 yrs old or something. (Yeah, there's a rule like that, I just don't remember exactly). If I'm actually still interested in this in a couple days, I'll be setting up the proper lathe (pro'ly need a special chuck, and a special tool rest at least).

Hey now dibby... I'm only I my early 40's and I turn pens on a shopsmith... Not sure if I can get the centers close enough to turn a drip tip, but I'll see,

How's are you handling sealing the inside hole of your drip tip? Vapor is steam.., steam is water...water makes wood swell...you get the idear.

Thanks
Geo

Or move up here! :)

We're not that far apart, maybe a little over an hour? Takes me an hour to get to CKS & about 1.5 to go to OC fair (gun show). But if ever you ever get bored sometime & would really like to learn, I can teach you machining on the lathe & mill......and I won't even ask you to sweep up!

I'm not. This is totally amateur. When they fall apart . . .. . tough. :)

If I make any for reals . . . . . I'm open to suggestions.

btw; hi Geo!

Hi right back at ya,dibs :2cool:

If and when I get a round tuit...I plan on bonding the wood to an alum tube. I can finish the outside with a sparkly ca finish (mirror gloss) and the inside will be aluminum...so no fear of moisture penetration... Plus, with aluminum...I figure it'll be better than brass.(since the octopus is aluminum) and if I happen to nick it with my spendy HSS chisels I will feel better with them hitting aluminum vs stainless.

Shameless plug here...cuz I'd like to tap into your expertise...please see me question I'm about to post in modding forum... Regarding firing pin.

Thanks
Geo
