I've been smoking 2+ packs a day for 20 some odd years. I never wanted to quit smoking. After trying a disposable PV on a lark a couple months ago, I realized it's potential as something to switch to in place of cigarettes.
Right now, I feel as if I am caught in the middle. I don't really enjoy smoking as much as I used too, and I don't always want to use a PV. Currently, I am down to a pack a day without really trying. Quitting smoking was not my goal, however now... it seems stupid not to make the switch.
There have been two things really holding me back from making the full switch.
The first Satharra, is similar to what your husband is dealing with. I have had asthma since I was small child. I've found that
vaping can be harder on my lungs than smoking is. When I start to use a PV, I tend to cough and hack and may have to reach for an inhaler. After a bit the coughing will subside and I can
vape on without too much difficulty.
Aside from the inhaler I've found two things that help... switching to a higher blend of VG, and using a 901 atty. Up until a few days ago (Thank You LBug!) I was using a KR808 and it is way harsh compared to a 901.
The second thing holding me back might coincide with what Pope's wife is dealing with. Finding flavors that I wanted to vape in place of smoking a cigarette, as well as getting that "full lung" feeling.
Switching to a higher VG blend as mentioned earlier helped cut down on the harshness, but also increased the vapor for that "full lung" smoking feeling. I have to admit watching the larger clouds of vapor come out on the exhale seems to help on a psychological level as well.
As far as flavors go, I have been testing and testing and testing and have so far only found four flavors that do it for me: Peach, Green Tea, Sweet Caroline, and AC. (Thank you Sensay, I've smoked less than 1/2 a pack today since trying AC, without really trying.)
What is so surprising is that I wouldn't think those 4 flavors would be my go-to vapes.
I like peaches but would pick other fruit over them given the choice.
Green tea I drink after pouring a ton of sugar in it, and would go for oolong given the choice.
Sweet Caroline is the only
tobacco flavor I've tasted that I like. (It's not sweet)
Cinnamon is okay, but I wouldn't rush out for an Atomic Fireball, yet I love AC.
The point I'm getting at Pope is that it is probably a good idea to make available as varied a selection of flavors as possible for your wife to try. There are several suppliers that have sample packs and sizes. (I can recommend a few if need be) Granted it's hit or miss, but if you can find 2 or 3 flavors she would rather vape than smoke... it goes a long way towards winning the war.
Sorry for the novel.
