I built a simple shaker with some cardboard, rubber bands and a computer fan. I cut off half the fan blades and just strap the juice bottle to the hull to absorb the vibration, works great i think. I wanted to see if it could replace the steeping but ended up with somewhat different results.

For some flavors that require little steeping the effect was pretty spot on, a hour in the shaker gave the same results as a couple days of sitting. For some other flavors it came out differently all together though, i think inawera black cherry had the most pronounced effect. Straight out of the bottle it tastes like plastic, 2 weeks give it a sweet ashy cherry flavor, 3 hours in the shaker made it even more sweet and brought out the cherry but had no tobacco taste. Now im wondering what additional steeping might do to it but i wont find out for a while..

thoughts?

I don't know that I've ever witnessed stratification of juice in a bottle, but I don't vape really dark liquids with high particulate counts. There is a process of micro blending the ingredients and that can take a week or more of steeping. I recently ordered 4 10ml bottles of juice to try and every one had a soapy taste at first. After a week of steeping it was almost gone. A few more days and it was all good juice.

I shake juice every time before filling a carto or tank. I wonder what a vibrator would do for juice (the therapeutic kind). ;)

Awesome, how about some building instruction, or a couple pictures. I want one. :)

I tuned mine a little
ripped off all the fan blades and replaced them with a couple fat screws for less noise
reinforced the rubber band - cardboard connections by sewing some string through them
added an old hdd for ballast (it would otherwise move around on the floor, lol)
added a switch for easy on off
put toilet paper in various places to dampen vibrations

for size reference that bottle in the last picture is a 10ml one, it could be a lot smaller if i bothered to break some plastic but this was the easiest way + im thinking about adding some spacers to make the spare room in the box a kind of a container for my base liquids and flavors and steeping liquids and such

Currently it can only shake one bottle at a time since otherwise the bottles smash together making loud noises.
The sound it makes is comparable to an average household PC, cant really hear it from the other side of the room.
Cant really measure how well it shakes since i don't know of any measurement unit for that nor would i know how to measure that, lol.. let say a lot? :p The fan is comfortable with any voltage from 3 - 20 and the higher the voltage the faster it vibrates but if it vibrates too fast the juice will just wobble and not shake so i picked 6v as the sweet spot for this particular contraption.

Anyway, i decided to have the black cherry mix shake a little more, in fact i forgot it in there over night and half a day so it got a good 20 hours at this point. It adopted the same yellowish color that the steeped liquid has, the cherry has diminished a little and the ashtray flavor has reared its tasty head. Not as deep as the steeped variety but still pretty tasty at this point.

Do they still make those? Memories. My mom and dads pride and joy one year. Man they stood on ceramony a lot now that I think of it. We sat at the dinner table and he carved. They had the butane candles too. High tech! I still need to know if shaking is done at vendors or is this a DIY thing. Is to simply to speed up steeping? Or is it better than steeping? who knows....

One of my DIY success mixes I vaped most of it gone the week I made it. Found some left yesterday and it doesn't taste as good anymore! Lost the coconut it had with berry undertones and turned in to a I can't hardley tell what's in it flavor. Not bad but not good

I use an electric carving knife by attaching 10 to 30 ml bottles with a rubberband to the blade and letting it rip.

Ok. Because someone gifted me some Pluid with a Classifieds purchase of the Can and he told me it was pretty fresh and let it steep I used the massage /vibrator wand from the GoodWill store. It's like massive huge vibrations for football players type thing. And lay that little 10 mil bottle on it sideways and it mixes the hell out of it. Geeze Great idea. In it goes with my DIY arsenal. I need a wide rubber band though. Hanging on to the bottle pressing in to it gets old fast. Fingers feel good....

How much steep time does that seem to accomplish? How long do you mix with it in general?

Thanks for the reminder on those, I need to get one just because of how cheap they are, plus I bet that would greatly improve mixing while doing hot water baths.

@ hazarada

I like the idea, and I'm a techie/geek myself, so could easily make something similar, but I'm not sure I follow what you've done here. I guess the small pictures aren't helping either. But when I think of holding (Even by hand) a bottle against a PC fan center hub, I don't understand where the shaking/vibration is coming in? Is the fan you are using damaged somehow aside from teh blades being removed? I mean, if I were to do that with any of the 100's of fans I have, I'd imagine the fan just spins and the bottle would get a slight wear mark from the spin, but I'm not thinking there's be any vibration or shaking going on unless the fan bearings were broke or fan was off center ect.

Am I getting that wrong, or am I just thinking about it wrong, or what? How's that working if the fan spins properly?

I mix mabey 10-15 seconds, and I don't do the warm water bath anymore either. This mixer has been a real time saver. As far as how much steep time it accomplishes, I can't really say, because when I start using a new bottle, I mix another and it sits for a few weeks anyway before I get to it.
