Welcome aboard
Got my first two Kayfuns about two weeks ago. Wife immediately grabbed one. We both just love 'em. I've got two more on order.

Here's what I have:
$24.38 Kayfun v3.1 ES Styled Rebuildable Atomizer Kit (4.5mL) at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping
I use 30 and 32 gauge kanthal bought 100' of each:
Resistance Wire
I use sterile cotton balls for wick from Walmart.
I use this resistance meter: (this is great to use as a build stand too)
https://www.fasttech.com/products/0/10006334/1504903-atomizer-resistance-tester-ohm-meter
The last things I use is a 5/64 drill bit, and a BIC lighter or mini propane torch for coil winding and annealing.

One additional thing of note. You can expect that your current nic level will likely be too high for the kayfun. Had to get some 0 nic to mix with my 18mg to bring the nic down by about 1/3. My first tank of 18mg about knocked my socks off. I've been doin' 18mg for over a year (an excuse to cut down LOL)
Best of luck bud

Any opinions on the best gauge wire to use etc.? I'm a complete newb when it comes to rebuilding but I'm a very fast learner

30 gauge is a good all round gauge to start with; you can use it in both rebuildables and recoiling clearo heads.

Later on you might want to try some thicker gauge wire; 28 gauge is popular in rebuildables; but when you use thick gauge wire, your ohms tends to go down alot. The thicker the wire, the faster the ohms goes down.

Yep, like I said, I'll be using the Kayfun on my iTaste MVP V2, so I don't really want to run super-low ohms. Around 1.5 seems perfect for me. I have found that Fasttech sells 50 pre-nade 1.5ohm coils that you simply have to thread your cotton in and then its over and done with, and for only £1.29, I'm wondering if this is any good until I get confident with my builds?

I'm not confident about the prewelds because there's been reports of them giving problems; 'weld' probably got translateing into chinese as "join together with heat" which got translated into - "solder the damn thing".

Order a 100 foot roll of kanthal 30 gauge from temco off ebay;

yeah it's worth it....the guy that set me up at first did a Russian 91% and after seeing all the crap my "almost" son in law is having with the one he got(I gave him mine out of pity)..have fun!!

Remember Youtube is your friend!!

You probably got a KF clone that they called a R91. I have an authentic R91 and have never had a problem with it. It also has an adjustable 510 center pin that will fire on any mod - something the KF doesn't have. I've heard that the KF + has an adjustable center pin but I don't know if it does. Too often people call clones by the name of the real deal even though it's just a cheap clone.

You did notice that these are Nichrome and not Kanthal coils, right?

Yeah, I did end up noticing that when I went back to look at them. My bad! :(

I think next week I'll be ordering a Kayfun Lite Plus V2, 30 gauge Kanthal and I'll probably just buy a lot of cotton/cotton balls locally. Thanks for everyone's help. Last little question, if I want to be building my coils between 1.2 and 1.8 ohms, with 1.5 being what I'm mainly looking for, what size drill bit should I be using? I will also need to buy that as well. Thank you very much! :D
