Hello Everyone,

My name is Matt I am 32 and live in Rochester,NY. I work as an IT professional. Ordered a Volt Pro starter kit which should arrive tomorrow, and I hope it does cause I have visions of vape-ing all weekend. I have been a cancer stick smoker for 17 years, about a pack a day, and dont yet know if I am going to quit yet, will see how it goes.

Definitively a lot to take in and learn, so many different sites to buy from and different parts. I think I am going to want to try some clearomizers with my volt. And assuming I like vaping and it cuts down on or replaces analogs I will be looking to buy a really nice variable voltage unit, have not had a chance to look into what the best one is yet, I know I would like to stay under $100 on it so a Provarti may be out of the picture, I may be leaning towards a lava tube... but like I said I dont know yet. I picture using the volt 808 for on the go, and a larger better unit for at home.

juice sampler packs..... so far the best deal I have found is on mad vapes, the "TopVapor USA E-Liquid" in 5ml bottles for about $2.50 each. Is there a better deal somewhere? I read these juices are 100% PG, but at the moment seeing how vape has never touched my lips except trying a blu one time I have no idea what mix I will like.

I could probably rattle off 100 questions here, but I know how to search so I expect almost all my questions will be answered in do time. I look forward to leaning from you all, and participating on the Pay it Forward thread eventually.

Thank You and Happy Vapeing

Congrats Matt. You will like the volt. It is a good product and a great company. I have good news for you. You won't have to go far for a bigger battery. Smokeless image also sells the X2 battery. It is the same as a kgo, except that it has 808 threads. It will work with all of you cartomizers you get with your kit. So for $20-$30, depending on the size you buy, you can have the best of both worlds.

Also, once you get your volt, you can go to their subforum on here and under the stickies, find "faces of volt". Post a pic of yourself with the volt, and they will send you a free battery, pack of cartos or bottle of juice.

Welcome to the ECF and your first Vape Kit. Never had the one you are getting but Im sure it will be fine. You are right, there are a million places to order from and a million things you can order. And if you ask for opinions here you will get limitless amounts of different combos lol. Just do your research here and youtube or wherever and take a shot on some things. Dont forget to look in your area for brick and mortar stores. I have two near me and they have been the best ways to save some money and try before you buy sort of thing.

Good luck quitting the stinkies, vaping for me was no magic bullet, it still took the will and motivation to quit but they were a great tool in helping me out. I didnt try to pretend the PV was as good as a cig, I viewed the PV more as something that was better than nothing type of thing. Just a crutch to get me through the tough times.

Anyway, have fun on the forum and on your vaping journey! :)

Hey and welcome!

I've never had the chance to try out a Volt. I started to vape last year by getting sucked into the blu hype. I currently have a eGo passthrough and it is streets ahead my friend.

If you want to try VV at a decent price I'd recommend and eGo Twist. Only around 25 bucks and introduces you into the VV world. I'm personally saving up for a Provari though, they're just too sleek to not have one.

As far as juices go, I know you were asking about better deal, that I'm not sure of. But I found this brand called "The Vapor Room" at a local Brick& Mortar store. They have absolutely the best flavors I have tried out of any brand. I have yet to find a flavor by them I dont like. Id def. recommend picking up a couple of those at 50/50 pg/vg to see how well a vape can actually taste. (my personal fav is their sweet tart) And you can even make your own sample packs.

And just to chime in about helping you quit smoking. When I got the Blu I quit for like a week, but it kept dieing on me and was such a struggle I went back to analog. Once I got an eGo and had all the options for my own clearomizers and tanks, and a battery that lasts all day I havent touched a real cig. So play around and find something that works for you first and foremost, and then you'll realize theres no need to ever handle a nasty analog again.

Happy Vaping!

Hi Matt, ok not Rochester UK then! lol.. should have read your hello post first..

Looks like you are jumping in at the deep end.. a good thing as it will save you money. Most people (like me) start on the cig-a-like kits first and quickly move on.

A couple of things about your choices of juice though: 1) Most important, to get off the analogues effectively its a good idea to go up at least one nicotine strength - the body seems to absorb nicotine slightly differently (I have found) when vaping so choosing higher nicotine has an effect similar to lower strengths of analogues. Maybe this is because analogues contain a lot of other stuff too e.g. carbon monoxide, which is absent when vaping. BTW, because you won't be sucking in all the extra crap you're used to there will be some withdrawal symptoms. 2) I have found VG juices give clouds of vapour and little throat hit, and PG the exact opposite. VG suits me because its kind on the throat and I'm too old and knarled to notice "throat hit" anyway these days! lol. But for you, all VG probably wont mimic the effect of analogues as well as a mix or all PG..

Just thoughts from a recent ex-analogue smoker.. :)

Hi Matt. You've picked a good starter e-cig. For a cig-style, it's the best of the best. It may be easier than you think to quit the analogs. For some people, it's easier than others, and the time and number of cigs they smoked, or motivation, doesn't seem to have a whole lot to do with it.

I quit a 40 year 3 pack habit instantly, with a lot less capable e-cig than the one you're getting. I didn't even particularly want to quit. I bought an e-cig just for yuks and thought maybe it would be cheaper than snus to cut down some. The day I got it was the last day I smoked a cigarette, over 2 years ago. No withdrawals. No cravings. No strange "detox" effects other than some kind of bizarre, but fun, dreams.

The way I did it was just to vape. Vape a lot. Vape more than you ever would have smoked. I started with 24mg juice and vaped until I got dizzy a few times. I put it down for an hour, then started vaping again. Next thing you know, it was time for bed and I realized I hadn't lit a cigarette. When I got up in the morning, a time when I usually had one lit before my feet hit the floor, I grabbed my little Joye 510 and vaped again.

My biggest suggestion is to vape. Vape a lot. Never, ever let yourself run low on batteries, cartos or juice.

Regarding VG/PG. You're going to have to find your own optimum ratio. Most people prefer a VG content from about 20-50%. VG smooths out the harshness of PG and the throat hit of nicotine, and VG mutes flavors to some extent. Juice lacking in VG (more PG) lets more of the throat hit from nicotine come through. PG is a better flavor carrier but some people have a degree of intolerance to it. VG also produces more vapor.

I'd suggest looking in the "deals" forum and try to sample from more than one vendor. Don't underestimate the importance of finding the right juice. It's more challenging than finding the right PV and it's importance to your success is often overlooked.

As for other variable voltage. I'll just say there are several available in the $100 range, from the more established and time-tested Lavatubes and box mods to the newer Vmax, VV 350 or the "Flavor of the day" Twist. Despite what the Provangelists will preach, you don't need to spend a fortune on a top-of-the-line Provari to get a good, dependable and well performing VV unit. Prices are dropping all the time and have never been lower on VV devices.

Sailorman.... thanks for the info I have not heard of the Vmax yet, I am checking it out on youtube now.

I know from a youtube vid I saw yesterday comparing lava tube to a provarti that the lava tub seemed easier to use, the methods of operating the buttons to move the voltage up and down did not seem as good, and the price is half. The provarti sure does look pretty though.

And do you find you sleep less? I wake up like a shot at 7 or 8am.. first time in my (smoking) life! I don't sleep as deeply either, slightest thing wakes me.. :(

My guess would be this could be do to changing how much nicotine your body is used to, maybe you were vaping so much you were getting more nicotine than your body is used to, causing you to sleep lighter, just a shot in the dark

I like your list of flavours, and strength should do nicely - depending on what you are used to normally. Notable is only one purely tobacco flavoured juice - American Standard. That's admirable since most who start vaping want tobacco flavours first and foremost.

If the one tobacco flavour in your list is disappointing and you want to try another "purely tobacco" juice I can recommend Vaperite.com tobacco blend #1. My partner used to pick tobacco on a plantation as a kid and the first reaction to vaping this juice was "OMG I am right back there in amongst all the leaves with stained hands and clothes stinking of tobacco". Its pure! Vaperite is a good starter for anyone wanting to get off analogues as they extract from tobacco naturally.. no artificial flavours.

Hmmm, I still sleep like a brick and don't want to get up in the morning. But I do suffer from insomnia in general, and take between 3 and 6mg of melatonin when I goto bed, so that knocks me out nicely. After reading so many stories of people waking like that I had hoped for it, but c'est la vie I guess. I still feel worlds better when I do wake up, so I'll take that. :)

Welcome Matt, sounds like you're well on your way. I just got an Ego Twist and can't recommend it enough! For a little over $20 you can see what all the fuss about variable voltage is about.. truly, I discovered flavors I never knew I had!! It makes THAT much difference! As for juice,, I love ECBlends. They also have 5ml bottles for $2.50 and you can customize like crazy, even make your own mixes. Deejstuff is pretty fabulous too. Good luck to you, you'll find great advice here to help you along this journey.. and it IS a journey!

with my kit from SI I have the "smooth sampler pack" that has 5 tobacco flavor cartos in it. From what I am reading and knowing myself, if it does not taste like a marlb light, it will not taste right to me, and I will notice that it does not taste right with every puff, so I have a feeling that I will end up not going with a tobacco flavor as my all day vape.
