Organic Cotton Question Firing em Up n a DIY question thrown in.

I need to pick some expert builder's brains here. I had my SZeaster kayfun v4 clone set up with a 1.4ohm 28ga coil (full contact/2.3mm id). At work I started getting 'that taste' so I just put my PT 2 on and finished my day.
When I took the build deck off, one tail of my wick was fully saturated and clean. The other tail was grungy black and fully crudded. And yes it was burned about 3/4 through.
Not my first gunked coil. But only one tail? Too much wicking, not enough, short, long, huh?
I did not get a lot of gunk per say with MBV juice. But my DIY seems to be gunk waiting to be released via a coil. Maybe I am hijacking my own thread but is that too much VG?

I would guess a hot leg. I would rebuild it.

Are you using sweetener in your diy juice?Sweetener will gunk pretty quick,also certain flavors will gunk faster than others also,but sweetener will definitely do it every time.

Either a hot leg or the wick is choked off on only one side of the wick. I'd pull the wick, dry burn the coil and see if only the coil is glowing or if you do indeed have a leg. If the coil is nice and as it should be, try re-wicking and see if you can ensure an even density.

No sweeteners, just 50/50, 10% nic, and 5% Capella Green Apple.

Thanks guys, it appeared to be a hot leg, not sure why there was no visible difference in the legs.
