How does it compare to a zenesis?

Short mode on the 2.1 is really, really cool I gotta say. I sense the Zen and orion will both be at the pinnacle for me. Both have a very solid Genesis pedigree. It will come down to where they shine in different areas. It's like having kids. I love them both for different reasons. For me, that translates to they will both be used a lot, just in different applications, depending on my mood, or needs at the time.

I gave a review earlier in the thread and agree with a lot of what fill said.

My main positives are the size in small mode, the screw cap and flavor.

This is one comment I will make to someone who is new to genesis devices and comparing the two.

Without question the zenesis is much easier to wrap a coil on for me. There is just more space to work.

This is not in any way a bashing of the Orion. I love the device. I actually have five currently in my possession.

I'm just saying that for someone who does not have experiences with these, making a successful coil can be a bit of a challenge. Once you figure it out or by using some of the methods (cigarette paper) it gets easier. The zenesis is definitely easier to set up for a beginner. This also does not mean its not a advanced device. It is.

I really really like this. Drilled air hole out to 1/16 and it is perfect for me. Flavor dropped a little but draw is on the money.

Small mode Is freaking awsome!

How was drilling it?

I have one that came pre drilled. I'm such a screw up when it comes to doing stuff like that. I'm afraid I'll mess it up.

I definitely want to open the air hole on at least one more.

The drilling was super easy. It is a lot easier to follow a pre-drilled hole than it is to make a new one :)

I have one of those cheap small drill presses and drilling the air hole and mouth hole (v2) was easy as pie. I buffed the crap out of it to rid any burrs. That would be harder on the v2.1 due to the finish.

If/when I get the v2.1 in my hands I'm more than likely gonna leave it bone stock. I was one who drilled and wished I hadn't. :(

I agree. It was a bit challenging or a little different at least than a zen. It took me bout 3 tries to get it on the Orion.

It wasn't hard. I went through 2 drill bits as I dont have a press or the right drill bits even. Mine went dull pretty quick. I got the job done though.

Based on reading several forums, the Orion is probably one of the most finicky to set up right. Mesh needs to be completely oxidized or you will cuss like a sailor. Tightening the top terminal nut really helps that connection. Seems 90+% of hot spots are at the top lead.

You can always wrap on wick prior to installing. I find on the original (electrode connectors) it is a must. Now those are fun to set up. :lol.

not a review, just my personal opinion so take it for what it's worth. I most likely won't let go of these 2 devices at the moment. It is not a comparison per se, more like independent self opinion. I do like bottom buttons however, a side button is dumb proof so yea.. it's your choice.

Orion 2.1:

-orion is a great apv
-looks BOSS on 18350!
-great flavor.
-easy set up
-lots of vapor (less than the zenesis)
-good quality, though i might tweak the finish a little
-tighter draw. someone coming from another device wouldnt need to adjust to the draw.
-sturdy
-flexible

Zenesis: (open draw cap AYS)

-zenesis is a great apv
-easy to set up
-good flavor
-huge amount of vapor, you'll choke yourself to death lol
-looser draw. Coming from a different device, one needs to get the hang of it. When you figure it out, you'll appreciate it!
-better "raw materials" finish is great
-top cap is flexible, a simple turn to adjust the throat hit though one can accidentally knock it off and ruin your perfect coil LOL.
-not as sturdy as the orion, could need a stand
-quartz tank while "pretty" is a little fragile
-switch is great in my opinion though some people need further adjustment
-wobbly when standing up

These 2 are on top of the chain when it comes to commercially available hybrids in my opinion. The amount of usage varies where i'm at i guess.. if i'm out, i'll probably vape on the zenesis with a poly tank, AYS has a 5ml tank. Though you can tweak the button to add orings, springs or what not to make it sturdy, i dont want to mess with it. Don't sneeze infront of an upright zenesis unless you have back up tanks..

would i buy them both again? fu5k yeah!

I love these 2 devices for different reasons. Some people complain, i don't. if you think the zen's draw is too airy, use a smaller hole drip tip! If you think orion is too tight, bore it out.

If one is having problems with shorts on orion, this is what i do. Before i roll my mesh, i oxidize the hell out of it first. roll, burn vg juice a lot of times. No need for insulators period.

wait, let me put my flame jacket on because these 2 devices might go if i score a hybrid hellfire HA HA HA!

Mine has been sitting in NY since 6-28-12 - still there. Same thing has happened with other oversea shipments - so no worries - usually sits in NY for a week

Mine was still sitting last night at midnight in NY - Today in the afternoon it was delivered. Never showed it coming into Cleveland at all. Just NY, then my house.
