Question:

I received my first orion today, got it set up and producing vapor on the first attempt (thanks for the tips tierrataz), when the cap is off it is a little chimney, when I screw the cap on (hole lined up with wick), I get very little vapor.

What is the proper way to draw on the Orion, hard and fast or slow and easy?

Thanks.

With the stock airhole - draw very slow

Noob question alert- what gauge kanthal is shipped out with the Orion 2.1s? I don't think it's 32, Just curious! :D

I think its like 17 or something like that.

OK, I am no longer a newbie, but have a newbie question.

when the taste starts to fade on any of your genesis devices, what steps do you take? I mean do you change the coil? dryburn and dunk in water? Check for shorts?

what is the process most go through? I am having one of those days where the taste is muted on all of mine.

maybe its just me. :)

I have a jewelry cleaner that produces steam, I put distilled water in and after a dry burn, I steam clean the coils. Works for me.....I need to get a bottle with a bent neck (like I use to use back when I played football to get water into my mouth without taking off my helmet), till then I will use the steam method. That is what I have done to regain my flavor when it becomes muted. Haven't needed it on my Orion yet but another Genesis RBA device.

I think its like 17 or something like that.

I didn't get any Kanthal with mine, but I have plenty from my past purchases from HoH, so no worries. :)

Ya, that's what I did as well, used my HoH kanthal, but this stuff seems thinner (the wire I received with the Orion.) Just curious, as I am keeping it seperate from my 32ga, just wondering what to label it.

You can label it "Orion" like I did.

Or "36" which would also be correct.

I've been using the wire that came with it so far but I guess a lot of people prefer the 32.

So odd that les sends 36 with the Orion. 32 is the industry standard as far as genis go, though 30g is also excellent if you're going for more vp and th.

Its not 36

It would be 33 G.

33 gauge Kanthal A-1 resistance wire
Maximum continuous temp- 2550 degrees F / 1400 degrees C
Resistance- 17.2 ohm/ft

A friend got his OrionV2.1 Friday and brought it over yesterday and we went to town setting it up. We were having a heck of a time with shorts at the top coil, but eventually got it cranking. We used the wire provided when I got tired of wasting my kanthal :) and ended up doing a double braided coil and a 4/5 wrap. It was kicking it out then, with no wicking issues at all. Makes me think there is something to braiding the wire that works well and may try it on my next coil, if I ever make another
