still waiting on those magnet spacers to give that orion v1 a shot. does anyone have any pics of a v2 standing next to a v2.1? the reason i ask is because i got both of these second hand, but i think i may have gotten two v2.1s. were they the only ones to have the matte finish? are there any ways to distinguish the two?

regarding the twisted coil: did you wrap the kanthal around a pen and twist like a bread tie? or did you painstakingly twist each loose end arounfd one another like a hair braid?

i need to rewrap my katana so i would love to give this a try! tried a twisted coil from my friend mudd's description (no pics) and that thing was shorting like crazy on a gtus/provari setup. E1, so it would not even fire, haha.

thanks, tierrataz!

.15 twisted kanthal, 1.7 ohm coil.
Trick is to use a drill for such perfect wire.

tick - get length of kanthal, it shortens WAY up when twisted tightly, fold in half, use a nail or something to hold at the bend, stick free ends in drill and tighten chuck-thing, then slowly run drill as you hold nail/folded end pulled sort of tight .... don't go too far or wire will kink up, like try and double twist ....

where u get that kanthal, its 15g?

and whats the directions for using the drill to twist, i think i have the right idea, but want to hear from expert lol

.15 mm would be about 34.5 AWG. 34g is .16mm and 35g is .14mm

Pretty much as 'blu' said. The guy who did that said he had his dremel on the lowest setting and spun it for about one second. It is pretty no doubt.

I plan to try this when I need a new coil. In the meantime, my coil is nicely broken in and clean. I've been flushing the tank out each night before bed and it still looks relatively new.

questions.

1) what dimensions do most of you cut your mesh to? I am finding that mine almost overwick and too much juice is getting pulled up. This is causing the vapor to not fire as hot. I have been using 4 or 5 wraps.

2) what does the twisted coil do for you? Can I use any of the kanthal wires when doing this?

3) how many wraps do most of you use? I know some do three. Is that too hot? I use five on my others and it seems to be fine.

thanks!

do you notice a flavor difference between that and more wraps? any burning taste? is your airhole stock?
As it is not power regulated, I like a 1.5 ish ohm coil running at 4 Volts, this setup lasts for a good 4 to 5 hours with the callies customs IMR 2250 mah batteries without going down in power for a good long time. I love this setup for a good tobacco liquid, the flavor is perfect, no burning taste, perfect wicking, never any dry hits and all is stock, except the glass tank.
