@jslick. Rat bastage! Paid on the 16th, still don't have it. Fell through the cracks I guess. Been following on VP about the switch issues. A bit bummed before it arrives. Looks sweet sporting a bliss though.

Got a PM back from Dancer, he's upgrading the spring in the switches, sending them out to all existing owners, and says it won't be a problem in the future. It was a simple fix for mine that requires a bit of a paperclip wedged at the base of the spring to ensure contact with the bottom cap. It will make more sense when you get it what I'm talking about, but shouldn't take more than a minute.

I don't know what "twisted coils" means. I just hit the jackpot with a long wick shaped like a "U" that goes into both holes but it is only coiled around the side that lines up with the air hole. Wicking is spectacular, vapor is thick and rich, but flavor is still leaving me wanting. I'm hoping that it is just a matter of "breaking in" the wick, but I'm still not sure what that means. Is it that the longer and "dirtier" a wick gets, the more flavor that comes through? Also, since I use 70%vg 30%pg, would the 325 mesh or 500 mesh be better?

Big Ern, know anything about seasoning & never using soap in cast iron skillets? It takes time through usage to get a wick to optimu performance. It has to season.

Twisted coils were covered in the thread a few weeks ago. Might be better for you to concentrate on basics right now. I'm sure you'll get there in no time. :)

Based on your sig, looks like this will be your first genesis device?

If so, I'd just get it up and running in stock form and see how you like it...

I have several, all with various draws, and while I fully appreciate the open draw on some, I also find that the 2.1 performs VERY nicely in stock form. Both flavor and vapor production are great.

Start with getting a good wick set-up, getting a basic coil set-up, if you're not fully satisfied, change coil set-ups, etc... There is plenty of time to drill out the air hole if you really feel you find the need, but that's not a reversible change... Try the basics first.

It is a tighter draw than most of my other devices, and personally, I still have no intention to drill it out.. Variety is nice and it performs well..

Also keep in mind that any change you make to airflow WILL have an impact on both vapor and flavor production, for better or worse... :2c:

Hey guys, I should be getting my first V2.1 next week :D

So this tune thing. Can anyone direct me to a video of this? Does this make the draw a bit airy as I hear the stock draw is tight?

Ty for any advice :)

Big Ern, I usually find a new wick starts getting tasty on day 2-3. Flavor continues to develop but at a smaller rate after that. I vape 3-4ml a day on my Orion .

How you oxidize the wick affects flavor development IMO. If wick black before you start vaping, I don't find the flavor ever gets its full potential. I use the Jack Frost method. It's covered in this thread and you can search using thread tools. I do not oxidize by time, rather by color of mesh. I'm looking for a uniform slate color. It doesn't take very long for each side, no more than a minute.

Conversely, if the wick/coil are crusty & black from usage performance goes down. Time for a dry burn or recoil. I always retorch my wick to slate color on a recoil. A lot will depend on the liquid you vape. Sweeteners and dark flavorings such as coffee gunk my set up quickly.

Hope that helps. :)

Cerver, + infinity to what vapor says! Orion is near legendary for flavor production. "Tuning" will adversely affect that. It's a lot like the art of jetting a carberator ( knew an Indy racer ages ago). More air will get you more vapor but at a substantial flavor & TH loss. There are better ways to get more vapor and not devalue the device. Les will not sell top caps.

As Les has tried to preach since the beginning, it's in the wick/coil build. If you can resist a drill I think you will find we have a tremendous amount of control through our builds. Twisted wire is kick azz for vapor though I find the flavor is different. Not reduced but mellow & complex at the same time. Nuances in my DIY liquid are quite difference between a single & twisted coil.

If you use the thread search tool, you can find a video whereas shows how to use a 10ml juice bottle to experiment with air holes. I would strongly encourage you to try that before you commit to drilling your cap.

Hope that helps. :)

Do NOT, NOT, NOT bore it out as you will lose the "flavor ability" for which these Orions are prized. For tuning, follow what everyone says about building a proper wick/coil. The ONLY tune I would recommend would be the one from "The_Great" a few weeks ago where he replaces the ground screw setup and raising it, allowing the coils to line up better with the airhole. That is the ONLY reversible tune, so if you don't like it, you can revert it back to stock form.

The Cobra is right there with the bliSS & Orion...IMO. It's slightly taller than the bliSS, but it holds more liquid, is smaller in diameter, & weighs less due to it being titanium. It has the multiple wick design too. I'm digging it.

Nice post :)

I have a Cobra + 4 spare tanks on the way (Ordered one of each tank)

It should arrive in a day or two. (Really looking forward to trying it)

Have I mentioned how much I'm enjoying the 2.1??

Anyway, here is the result of my cracked tank. Smok polypropylene tank cut to fit. I bought a few, this one was a bit of a sloppy cut just to get a working tank on it.

Overall, it works. Had to use larger than stock o-rings for the tank to fit properly, and its thinner walled than the "proper" tank so some juice from condensation seems to sink down between the tank and threading / top tank o-ring.

That said, I have another o-ring sitting between the top of the tank and the top cap to resolve and its working well until I can get my hands on a quartz tank..

Regardless, I'm back in business...

I am really liking my Orion, especially the size when I use a 18350 battery. I will have to cut my juice down to half of the nic content though. I just can't believe the difference in how it delivers taste and nicotine. Maybe I just got lucky on my first set up. It has been going strong since Saturday. I must thank Quigsworth for the set up I used. No shorts, no dry hits and lots of flavor.

The flavour from Orion is awesome/unmatched, but I still prefer the throathit I get from a LR DCT (I have to up my nicotine level to get the same throathit from Orion)
